Soul Calibur IV special edition includes Yoda threads
Another game release, another special edition. The Soul Calibur IV special edition has recently been detailed by Namco Bandai and includes your standard special edition trinkets.Over-sized tin? Check. Art book? Check. T-Shirt? Check. Also included is a "Tournament Kit," a rather grandiose way of saying a reusable blank tournament bracket card. Interesting note to Star Wars fans, the Xbox 360 special edition includes a white t-shirt with Yoda/Siegfried art while the PS3 version includes a black Darth Vader/Mitsurugi tee (all versions are XL). We'll leave it up to you to decide whether or not the collection warrants the $80 price-tag.

DARK vader?!?!?
What are you, from Canada?
Xav de Matos @ Apr 23rd 2008 12:24PM
HAHAHA.
Yeah. My bad.
I guess my lack of interest in all things Star Wars kinda just came out.

I don't know if I could be any less excited about Star Wars characters in this series.
Neuromancer @ Apr 23rd 2008 12:25PM
Agreed, this is absolutely ridiculous. The only way I could be less excited about it would be if I were dead.

If i had no shame wearing a combination of fighting video game + star wars t-shirt, then this is a nice lil collector's package.

I'm seeing a trend here.... Starwars characters in Soul Calibur.... D.C. vs Mortal Kombat....
What's next? Carebears in GTA4?
Michael Paul @ Apr 23rd 2008 1:20PM
OK, if the T-shirt is XXL I'll go for it. They'd better plan ahead on this...
AoE @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:55PM
I think they did actually; most of the world is... *ahem* not quite as well fed as a lot of Americans are. XL is the happy medium that seems to work for the majority, which is why you'll find with most things that pack in a shirt, XL is the size they go with.

Hahaha, +1, Gavin...

Id like it... but not for 80 bucks.... regular for me. =D
Deck @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:16PM
Considering a shirt is probably gonna cost $15 by itself anyway (if not more) this is actually a pretty good deal.
I love Star Wars, and I like Sould Calibur. I am not opposed to them together though I do believe it does not make sense. Nonetheless I may be picking this up just for the shirt (well, the game obviously too!)
webster1990 @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:43PM
XL!? im only a S, spose i should wolf down some pies....or just not buy the special edition.
AoE @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:52PM
WTF? Siegfried and Yoda on a shirt? It looks like an invitation to get punched in the face. :(
I'd get it but... no, wait, I lie. After they announced the awful star wars tie-in (damn you star wars fans, for being legion) I died a little inside, so no special edition for me... it's going to be painful enough getting the regular edition, knowing what cross-marketing horrors lie inside.
AoE @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:58PM
Btw, whose idea was it to combine these two forces anyway? I don't know too many soul calibur/fighting game fans in general who give a crap about star wars, and based on the few star wars games i've played, it doesn't seem like star wars fans give a crap about good video games... so why the tie-in? Is this namco's way of gently telling us SCIV will be like a star wars game, and suck?
cocobunny @ Apr 26th 2008 4:23AM
The game will retail $60 anyway, so another $20 for the extras doesn't seem too awfully high. Still, I'm not sure if I will even be buying this game at all, but we'll see.
As a side note, I enjoy both Star Wars and fighting games (I figured most nerds do). Here (in my opnion) is a list of good Star Wars games for those who think they all "suck".
-Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi (SNES "Super" versions)
-Shadows of the Empire (N64)
-Rogue Sqaudron series (N64, Gamecube)
-Jedi Power Battles (PS1)
-Jedi Knight/Academy/Outcast (PC)
-Knights of the Old Republic I and II (XBOX)
-Galactic Battlegrounds (PC)
-Force Unleashed (360) looks to have serious potential
-Lego Star Wars series (360)
-Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
Seems like a decent list to me...
