Activision sniper kills Call of Duty rumor

A few days ago a rumor was swirling about a claim an ex-Activison employee made to Next Gen about developer Infinity Ward. According to the insider, Infinity Ward had renegotiated their contract with Activision to be the sole developer of all things Call of Duty.

As it stand now, Infinity Ward has only developed Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare while developer Treyarch was behind Call of Duty: Big Red One, Call of Duty 3 and are rumored to be developing Call of Duty 5.

For a moment the world was at peace. Birds were chirping, sun was shining and food tasted better; then Activision shot it down. Describing the rumor as "erroneous information regarding the CoD franchise," Activision has essentially promised for CoD in quantity and not quality. Next stop, Call of Duty: Aerosmith!

Update: During editing the names of the titles were moved and I somehow placed COD4:MW with Treyarch. We all know IW made it. Mistake fixed.

Bad editing error on my part. You see how it says "Infinity Ward has only developed Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2 and ..." Well CoD4 was there but the link was broken so I deleted the name and pasted in a new hyperlink.

Put it in the wrong spot.

You need to do some fact-checking, because you just messed that list up. You also forgot to mentioned Sparks Unlimited, who started the console COD series.

I also didn't mention Grey Matter Interactive or Pi Studios, but those studios don't have anything to do with this story.

Sure he made a mistake, but everybody does.

Game rumours on the internet will alaways be rampant, this just seems to make sense, as In my opinion, Infinity Ward's efforts were better.

But to be fair, I disliked COD 4

To be fair it must be very hard to do yearly updates with the quality of the COD series.

I thought COD3 was weaker of the series, though I hate COD 4 online.

Treyarch screwed up on CoD3 but I thought that Big Red One was the best one in the series, regular CoD2 was fun and I'm not a big fan CoD4 (too many missed areas that should of been fixed). I also never played the original CoD.

Seriously though, I kind of liked COD3. Now, I admit... COD4 was freakin' awesome and blew it out of the water, but it was still kind of fun for me.

I would also think that with the stellar sales numbers that COD4 has reached, the money grub... I mean publishers, would want to keep IW pumping out those cash cows.

If the rumor that Treyarch will be developing COD5 turns out to be true... I seriously doubt anybody (including myself) will be looking forward to this game. Why in the hell would Treyarch even think about doing another COD game if they saw how much negative feedback COD3 got? Please Treyarch! Stay the hell away from the COD franchise! PLEASE!!!
