Halotography: An artistic look at Halo 3

One of our loyal X3F tipsters shot us a link to an amazing, beautifully artistic, Halo 3 screenshot gallery from Flickr user Joshuadamon. The Halotography set is JD's perspective on the Halo universe using the popular screenshot feature provided in the best-selling Xbox 360 exclusive.
Some shots, like the one above titled Chicken!, showcase perfect moments in the game, while others are so stunning you'd forget you were looking at in game screens.
Thumbs up to Joshua Damon for his beautiful work and to everyone else who gets creative with their copy of Halo 3!
[Thanks, Conner]

Oh, and I forgot what to say what I meant to say:
Halo is quite the good-looking game. Under appreciated graphics, I think.

Incredibly underrated, with all the shit going on it is amazing what they did at such a large scale with such great AI to go along all at once.
Games like COD4 get all the credit because it is more "realistic" as far is what people are used to seeing everyday, but in my opinion those kind of games just don't have the great physics and great vibrant displays that halo has always had to offer.

Woohoo you posted it! Yeah I like these pictures :P

He often just uses blur and other affects to make his picture look, but they're good overall.
Everytime I take screenshots I take a artistic approach to it.

These shots are fantastic! Funny you should post this, because I just finished working on a movie poster for one of my design classes, using screenshots from Halo 3:

Halo 3 is the most beautiful game, isnt it?
Ray @ Apr 27th 2008 7:36PM
....no
sirpilf @ Apr 27th 2008 7:48PM
umm why is it that when a developer (take guerilla and killzone 2 for example) touches up screens of gameplay everyone bashes them, but then some random kid takes in game screenshots with "artistic" angles/views and blurs the heck out of them and makes them look way better then what you see ingame, its "the most beautiful game"...

I don't know how this post turned into a console war thing but I think we can agree there is a big difference between a developer releasing official screens of a game and a fan trying to be creative.

Hey, way to get all defensive.
erivera3 @ Apr 27th 2008 9:08PM
Yes it is, Ray is an idiot.
Ray @ Apr 27th 2008 9:29PM

how is a crappy halo 2 upgrade the "most beautiful game"?
Digital Limit @ Apr 27th 2008 10:15PM
Crappy Halo 2 upgrade. *points to Lockout vs Blackout*
Oh, right; You're insane. Got it.
Ray @ Apr 27th 2008 11:10PM

amart @ Apr 28th 2008 12:25AM

I think everyone can agree that you're an idiot for making a double post.
Digital Limit @ Apr 28th 2008 3:13AM
Ray, I was referring to the graphics. Pay attention.
Chris @ Apr 27th 2008 9:22PM
What's "Halo 3"? Is that some kind of code word for "Grand Theft Auto IV"?
ogvor @ Apr 27th 2008 11:42PM
Reminds me of these absolutley beautiful Teamfortress 2 wallpapers made by a person called Flamingmenace on DeviantArt

I love the vignette effect. Added with the blur and they come out very nice.
CB @ Apr 28th 2008 2:50AM
Shame they're not wallpaper sized!
Digital Limit @ Apr 28th 2008 3:13AM
That's the worst part that definitely needs to be remedied.
T.J. @ Apr 28th 2008 10:25AM
Ahhh! Depth of field overload!!!!
PS. Ray is not an idiot.

You did read his Halo 2.5 comment, right?
You probably did. How sad.
jax sedrin @ Apr 29th 2008 9:32AM
Not that I have anywhere near the artistic/creative eye that this guy has, but I also like taking halo screenshots...
