Birthday Microsoft points, the new cake currency

The creative Birthday Microsoft points birthday cake you see above was made in honor of Smokemholcomb's 29th birthday, which took his wife over six hours to make. We aren't sure what the conversion rate between real currency and Birthday Microsoft points is, but one has to think they're expensive if the entire cake is only worth 29 points. Also, for the caring fanboys of the world, if you want to buy some Birthday Microsoft points for your favorite blogger on his birthday, we're sure he'd appreciate it very much.

I'm sure the "birthday points" are only redeemable in his bedroom.
Ozyman666 @ Apr 28th 2008 12:15PM
I think you mean conversion rate, not conversation rate.
XPrivateXRyanX @ Apr 28th 2008 12:29PM
Yeah I agree. lol
Brett @ Apr 28th 2008 12:45PM
I wonder what the conversation rate would be, though! I mean, come on, its on a birthday cake! That's bound to start some conversations. And maybe his wife made it to draw his attention away from the Xbox - in effect, converting the cake into an opportunity for conversation...

I'll be first to say it:
THE CAKE IS A LIE

(He's actually 30 Birthday Points old.)

You're making the mistake of assuming we favor you in some way.

I wish I had a wife that embraced gaming like that.

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED:
Reach Middle Age
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 28th 2008 12:56PM
Is 29 middle age?
on the cake, that is very creative. Nice.

I like the MS points. Makes it so I can get the dumb cards on the cheap (free 1600 points with purchase, some kind of crazy discount at the merchant who sells the cards, etc). Makes it so I can get some Rock Band stuff at "half price" or so, while my PS3 friend has to pay the actual $2 or whatev and never get a deal on em.
And cake is yummy

Damn, I thought this was going to be a generous new Microsoft marketing scheme..

the ratio is the same as unicorns to leprechauns.
UNSCleric @ Apr 28th 2008 2:27PM
Why did it take OVER SIX HOURS to make?
Andrew @ Apr 28th 2008 5:02PM
I thought this was going to be some new program Microsoft is running. It would be kinda cool if they gave you they amount of points for whatever year you were turning. (19, 25, 32 etc) Or if they were feeling really generous they could give you 10x the year you were turning (190, 250, 320 etc). That would cost them millions per year though probably.
Brave @ Apr 28th 2008 4:29PM
29 Birthday points? wouldn't that make Microsoft 57 now?
Gabriel @ Apr 28th 2008 4:37PM
Did he mean to say "conversation rate" or did he make a mistake? Anyway, I'm thinking of having my brother get my family to do this for my birthday this year. That cake looks appetizing, lie or no lie.
