We realize that many, many
Grand Theft Auto fans have already perused the contents of their shiny, new Special Editions of
Grand Theft Auto IV -- which includes an actual safety deposit box, among other things -- but there are also plenty of gamers out there who opted to grab the vanilla edition instead. It is with this in mind that we point you to
360Sync's unboxing of the
Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition (it's the Canadian version -- note the "Édition spéciale"). Grab your smoking jacket, pour the
Courvoisier, and savor the images.

Damn Canadians and there French packaging. ;) The lock box is pretty cool, and the duffel bag is better than I thought it would be (the custom lining makes me feel like a pimp).
Knight Marquise @ Apr 30th 2008 6:49PM
Yes, I was actually pretty impressed with the special edition as well, although I kinda missed not having a behind the scenes dvd.
XPrivateXRyanX @ Apr 30th 2008 7:03PM
Yeah I really wish they included a behind the scenes disc.
DjDATZ @ May 1st 2008 12:30AM
This bilingualism has me with 2 big maps of the city and you with 1. Who wins now? :P
Flakundenga @ Apr 30th 2008 7:31PM
yes i dread that french/english thing in canada. most game weight twice as much just because they have two manuals >:(
KrasnyTova @ Apr 30th 2008 7:59PM
Poor you, gonna need to carry all this extra weight... must be hard on your nerdz back.... more than 8 million people doesn't speak english in Canada. Minority sure, but would you like your game to be in Chinise just because there more than you ? ( And yes there more people on earth speaking Mandarine Than English, that's a fact )
LuckyEMS @ Apr 30th 2008 8:04PM
or they could just print more then one copy of the game
dylan @ May 1st 2008 1:48AM
@Krasny : or maybe he gives a shit about the environment and doesn't want tons of extra paper floating out in the world, I know I am very disparaged to find so many booklets inside my games, I rarely if ever read them anyhow...
baby sea tuna @ May 1st 2008 9:17AM
Seriously. Try buying a Wii game. They come stuffed to the gills with mauals, Nintendo Power ads, and a book of warnings that is usually as fat as the instructions themselves! Whenever I get a game, I do a "husking" that usually involves stripping out all of the stickers, security tags, and other extraneous bullshit before I even play it. OCD is just another way of "keepin it clean!"
bigmac375 @ Apr 30th 2008 7:44PM
hey, ive seen Dj around here before!
and i wish i ad his ocd about the sticker, but its too late to start now.
DjDATZ @ May 1st 2008 12:29AM
yea, i'm still here. ;) just busier than before. lol
yea...another reason why i don't go to EB is cuz they cut the damn sticker!!! rattles me so much. LOL
lysernix @ Apr 30th 2008 7:52PM
Ok thanks for posting this... I've been looking and looking for a US version of the unboxing on the 360 - I've seen the Austrailian one (and PS3 at that I think) floating around but not a definite, US, 360 version. So first yes.. thanks for that.
Now with that said... I can't believe the crappy little cardboard sleeve the music CD came in. I hate to nitpick but that was a really cheap cop-out in my opinion.
I pre-ordered the SE from Amazon (with standard shipping so it's still not quite here - but I'm fine with that... I'm patient). I got some free gamer pics when I ordered, plus I'm getting a license plate that looked pretty cool... and I had some gift certs... so it just made sense to order from Amazon.
But let me say I'm pissed about the music CD!! The jewel case on the preview pics looked spectacular. The cardboard looks like crap.
Maybe I'll forget about it after I play the game... cheers!
lysernix @ Apr 30th 2008 7:54PM
Oh crap... and now I see that's the Canadian version! Oh well... US is prolly the same. Guess we'll see...
xenocidic @ Apr 30th 2008 9:34PM
The music CD went from it's cardboard sleeve into my car's 6-disc changer where it has stayed ever since
baby sea tuna @ May 1st 2008 9:19AM
Personally, I think all CDs should come in cardboard sleeves. We've got enough plastic kicking around this world as it is.
D Boy Flex @ Apr 30th 2008 9:27PM
Does anybody know if there is a comparison between the US version and the Aussy edited version? Or maybe does anybody know what they cut out? Just curious as so far the game has been great and I would not want anything left out. I have only barely made it to the second crib Bohan, but it has been a sweet ride so far!
ryan @ Apr 30th 2008 10:14PM
off topic, but since the GTA4 glitch blog was filled with plus 30 comments already...
i ran into a glitch after getting drunk on my date with Michelle. whole chunks of level went missing, all i could see was my character against a white sky and black ground. after a while everything went back to normal.
glitch or is it intended?
Khayrhalt @ Apr 30th 2008 10:30PM
