Video: Liberty City has a heart

So begins the discovery of Grand Theft Auto IV Easter eggs with the big lady herself, the Statue of Happiness who we recently found to be very collectible. This Easter egg (embedded above) shows us what's really hidden deep inside the chest of Liberty City's Statue of Happiness and really, it's exactly what we expected. A giant, bloody pumping heart that's held in place by a few chains. Very sexy. You'll have to fast forward to the end of the video to see the Easter egg, but it's worth it in a gory, disgusting yet very loving way.

That is sweet. Is R* is trying to send a message with that easter egg? In the statutes hand it looks like a cup of coffee. Inside the Statue a beating heart.

I love just how many "hot coffee" references are in the game... In one early cutscene Roman says something like "Coffee? What was he thinking, that's bad news. It only leads to lawsuits..." Glad to know R* can make jokes at their own expense.

Hey, I'm all for easter eggs, however I'm a little dissapointed... I would have preferred something funny like maybe a FIB outpost monitoring the city or something like that... The heart is just weird.

Question: Are the sales numbers of the 360 vs PS3 posted anywhere? I ask because I read a rumor that any plans to release sequels on this generation of consoles would be soley on the ps3 due to "superior" hardware and not on the 360. But what if the 360 blew the ps3 version out of the water? It wouldn't make sense. I love my 360 and think GTA looks great with only minor nit-picky problems I would only mention because there are no major ones. Anyways, any info would be great! Thanks.

Just ignore all the BS that fanboys constantly spew. Both Episode 1 and Episode 2 of GTAIV are exclusive to xbox 360. So enjoy that. Don't worry about some supposed "GTA V exclusive on PS3" bs. Hell, that game probably won't even release on this gen of consoles. It's so far off the in the future that I can't believe fanboys are arguing about it, though I'm sure it's mostly PS3 fanboys. Because let's face it, the 360 is always currently more fully-featured and has better games, so the only thing PS3 fanboys can ever talk about is the Future. They've been doing it since day 1. Because the future is uncertain, so that's the only way to make the PS3 seem better than it is. Yea, and the world is coming to an end in 2 years btw.

Got a question though. When he pulls his cell phone, you clearly notice that he has a different color sheme for the actual screen (one which is much easier to read than the default one). How can you change your cell phone's screen color? I have a hard time seeing and reading text on it.

Granted I'm not really far into the game so far but if there is an option somewhere to change that, please let me know.

It could be that he eventualy gets to upgrade his phone. Remember he got his from Roman and (as i recall) was told that he could use that untill he could afford to get something better.

I think that's it. If you've been online yet in the game, you can go to a site to download backgrounds and ringtones, but when I try to do it right now, it says that the current model is not supported.

Recently went and tracked the heart down myself. sticking that bailed landing is a tough sonofa--, but it is possible. Pretty gruesome thing to behold. Funny as hell though.

you could never deny the huge amount of good quality games (f***** good) 360 has given to us. Orange Box, Halo 3, Assassins Creed, FM2... I could go on for ever. GTAIV is probably another kick arseeee we are getting. Im mentally preparing to enjoy the game.

What everyone seems to be missing with this heart thing is not that Rockstar put a beating heart of Liberty City inside the Statue of Happiness, but what Rockstar is saying, symbolically, about Hillary Clinton, who if you recall, was one of the loudest, most vicious voices in condemning Rockstar for the Hot Coffee thing.

This is only a little out there, but to me seems perfect plausible. First, some basic details:

The real Statue of Liberty has written on the tablet in her hand, July 4, 1776, the date which America declared its independence from Great Britain. And the very heart of that declaration is the freedom of speech. It permeates every idea that led to the founding of this nation. So in effect, the freedom of speech(which covers anything from saying someone is an idiot to what you can put in a movie or game) is the HEART of liberty.

And how is that represented? Chained and hidden in the guise of Hillary Clinton. And the most significant date in American history, the birth date of the inalienable right to the freedom of speech, has been erased from its place of honor. And what is there instead? The most important thing to Hillary Clinton: Hillary Clinton.

So if you ask me what the Statue of Happiness is to me, in GTA 4, I'll tell you it's a giant f*ck you to Hillary Clinton, that millions of people will see.
