It's almost always nice to see a fresh demo pop up on
Xbox Live Marketplace. Today is one of those days, thanks to a brand-spankin-new (and
very early) demo for
The Bourne Conspiracy from
Sierra and High Moon. The demo clocks in at 1.2 gigabytes (yow) and promises "An intense, fast-paced, authentic experience." In other words, the demo promises about as much as your average Mexican restaurant. We've yet to put the demo through its paces, but we're eager to give it a try, as what we've seen of
The Bourne Conspiracy so far has us intrigued though it hasn't managed to really excite us thus far. Here's hoping the demo paints a good picture of the game to come.

The Demo has 3 stages. The first stage concentrates on Running and the basic "brawler" system, the second stage is more of an "action shooting" stage, where gunplay is introduced, and also includes a boss battle. The final stage is the shortest, it's a car race from cops.
Overall, Stranglehold was a much better looking game, I have to say... something about this game feels last-gen to me, graphic wise. I think it's the character poly count, and the lame facial expressions on the hero and masked baddies. The takedowns are fun and brutal, though, and the action has punch to it.
I was never a fan of the Bourne movies, but, from the demo, this game is interesting enough to make me consider renting it. The fight engine feels like a step towards re-inventing the brawler/beat'em-up genre...

Rich, you're gonna get castrated for that Mexican comment. lol
I'm eager to try this out. Particularly cuz it'll be the only thing I can do on my premium 360 now...i'll be returning the Elite tonight.

Rich has defiled my Mexican heritage by making such a racist and insensitive comment. On Cinco De Mayo no less!
That is not an accurate portrait of a Mexican culture! He forgot to include "spicy" in his list of adjectives. ;)

Oh come on. What's wrong with being authentic? There are tons of real Mexican restaurants in Oklahoma. It's actually one of the nice things about living here :)
Now I'm hungry...
ZEBRA NINER @ May 5th 2008 4:27PM
Hahaha, you also forgot to include "served with a bowl of chips and salsa". Mmmm, I recommend getting the Carne Asada. So, this game is about Mexican food, right?

Just played the demo, it does need some work here and there but it really looks good.
It has the Bourne feel,
It has shooting fighting and racing
this looks like a really really good movie-licensed game (like we havent seen in a long time)
I wonder if the story goes outside of the story we saw in the 3 movies ...
The best comparison I could make for this game is that: "it could be a better (next-gen) "movie game" than "007:From Russia with Love" (plus the fighting)

I really wish they would've found a way to speed up the shooting mechanic. The hand to hand/sprinting/escaping is so fast paced, but the second you pull out your gun you become sam fisher in the first splinter cell.
overall, pretty good demo. game should be fun.
Jose42 @ May 5th 2008 1:46PM
The first two stages were really fun. I liked the shooting mechanics, and the fighting system was phenomenal. I even liked the quicktime events, but the driving section was god-awful. It felt more like Twisted Metal 2 than something current gen. Don't get me wrong, Twisted Metal 2 was one of my favorite games evar, but it was very cartoony. Bourne seems to be trying for a slightly more realistic feel than evil flaming clowns driving ice cream trucks. Really though, this looks to be worth at least a rental.
Waffle @ May 5th 2008 8:42PM
Yeah, the driving was not so good. I'm a Bourne fan and the driving was not as good. The controls were too loose and the streets were virtually empty!

i really want to play this game and i have been looking forward to the demo....but i can't play another game other than GTA IV until i beat it, not even for half an hour.
Grimm @ May 5th 2008 7:59PM
Yeah the games alright it's just lacking polish like most movie licensed games. Why can't we have another game as good as Riddick?
