Video: Ubisoft welcomes you to Far Cry 2
Always better than boring old screenshots is full motion video, so that's why we bring you this latest video gem courtesy of the folks over at Ubisoft's Far Cry 2 team. In this introductory video, you'll be treated to visual bliss as the dev team showcases Far Cry 2's Dunia engine, how combat will take place and where the story is headed this time around. Fun fact: the dev team actually took a trip out to Africa to gather some 7GB of pictures and video to aid in developing Fary Cry 2's look. Fun fact number two: We love producer LP Pharand's accent. Watch and enjoy.

Is it just me (or perhaps it was meant to look like that) but the frame rate looks nothing short of shockingly bad......

This will definitely be pushing all platforms. PC should become a benchmark alongside Crysis I would imagine.
Trekster_Gamer @ May 7th 2008 1:55PM
I will definitely be getting this, I hope it at least comes close to the look on the PC, I am sure it will sell 2 to 3 times more on the console platform overall than the PC. One thing about Farcry that I have loved over all other FPS is like he said in the video, you can play to win the level anyway you like, it's much less linear than Halo3 and Cod4 (don't get me wrong they rocked as well!).
erivera3 @ May 7th 2008 5:19PM
COD4 is linear, Halo 3 is not.

I'm surprised that they've got plans for porting their next-gen world rendering engine ("Dunia": BTW, Duniya means "world" in Hindi/Sanskrit. Coincidence?)
This after they dissed the 360 and PS3 as being 'inferior' to the PC when they spoke of porting Crysis to them last year. The real reason is probably not lack of horsepower on the consoles, probably a lack of horsepower (and budget) at their own studios.
Trekster_Gamer @ May 7th 2008 3:08PM
The lack of horsepower was in the biggest userbase of underpowered PC's it turns out given the extreme lackluster sales for crysis. Sure the 360 and PS3 are much less powered than that of a new decked out pc costing 2 to 3 times as much, but there are millions and millions of PC's out there that have not been upgraded since before the 360 came out and they are the bottleneck....
I would guess the realize where the money and future of gaming is, consoles...

Lets hope there is more to it then killing Africans all night long!

You've got to love an office that doesn't care if their employees shave or not! Brilliant! LOL
