GTAIV Social Club's 100% Club contest extended
If your Grand Theft Auto IV playing habits have been ritualistic in nature lately, all in an effort to complete the game to earn a key to the city as part of the 100% Club contest, then we say keep up your hard work. There's still time to succeed.Rockstar's 100% Club contest, where anyone who beats GTAIV 100% earns membership into the 100% Club AND is sent a real key to Liberty City, has been extended! That's right, the contest was initially scheduled to have already ended, but Rockstar wants to make sure "everyone has a chance to get in on the action" and extended the contest until Monday, May 19th. So, get your GTAIV gaming on, complete the game 100% and earn your key to Liberty City!
[Thanks, Bryan T]

That dose it. I am taking next week off of work for GTA4 completion.
Syko360 @ May 9th 2008 12:44PM
I wonder why I am not allowed to enter the contest due to being a resident of Arizona...F'ing weak sauce if you ask me because I am at 89% right now. DAMNIT!!
xenocidic @ May 9th 2008 2:34PM
WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!!
ZEBRA NINER @ May 9th 2008 4:38PM
Wait... what? AZ residents aren't allowed to enter?
ZEBRA NINER @ May 9th 2008 4:46PM
Wow, what's that all about? It's not like we are some dirty Canadians or something. ;) haha!
What part of AZ are you in? I'm in El Mirage.
Syko360 @ May 9th 2008 5:26PM
NE Phoenix...Like 51 and Greenway pretty much. Ya this sucks and is the first time I have ever seen Arizona excluded from anything like this, which is why I find it so weird. Pisses me off too because I can easily reach 100% by the 19th! DOH!
ZeroCorpse @ May 9th 2008 6:25PM
Arizona is where all the reptillian shape-changers live, an Rockstar doesn't want to take a chance on letting a dirty Reptillian win.
Honestly, I don't know why AZ isn't allowed. That reason makes as much sense as anything else. It's weird to disallow a state from a contest entirely.
colin @ May 12th 2008 11:32PM
drive to the nearest state and open a p.o. box if you want it that bad.
jason @ May 9th 2008 12:58PM
did they do this because not that many people have gotten 100%?
Carnie @ May 9th 2008 2:17PM
Na my guess would be that they are extending it because games on both the 360 and PS3 have crashed...
Andrew @ May 9th 2008 4:17PM
I'm guessing they did this because the social club is having problems picking up on players stats. I beat the story 2 days ago and it still says that I haven't beaten it yet.
qbix @ May 9th 2008 1:04PM
I'm only at 11 percent because of finals and work, but I'll give this a shot. I'll have to take the cab everywhere now.
Andrew @ May 9th 2008 5:38PM
I wish you luck man. It's going to be tough. If you want the best possible shot at this pick up the strategy guide. It has detailed descriptions of all 200 pigeons and all the USJ's.
Bac0nator @ May 9th 2008 1:09PM
im at 55%. 10 days I should be able to get to 100%. Once the missions are done the rest is just search and destroy..
WHERE ARE YOU FLYING RATS!!!!
robert @ May 9th 2008 1:19PM
seems strange that they put so much time and effort into the city design and character interaction but then push for people to blast through the game as quick as possible and not take the time to appreciate the scenery along the way.
Fuck @ May 9th 2008 1:23PM
.
AoE @ May 9th 2008 1:39PM
Yay! No fucking around now... I'm at 51%.... looks like a long weekend ahead of me.
Teabag @ May 9th 2008 1:42PM
These kind of competitions are..unhealthy. There are some people, people who want to brag, don't have social lives, fanboys, who will do a marathon probably lasting days to reach the goal. Just to win some stupid thing. R* should have just made this a unlockable. Playing for hours and hours is itself unhealthy and then you have people playing for days, neglecting family and work.
Bac0nator @ May 9th 2008 1:48PM
Yeah, its called being a hardcore gamer.
Adorada @ May 9th 2008 1:50PM
This is great news, 70% done with all stunt jumps done with 31 hours in game. In 10 days, I will sure have 100%
Raheem @ May 9th 2008 1:50PM
R* Social is bullshit, nothing updates.
Bac0nator @ May 9th 2008 1:51PM
Hey guys, I read the contest rules and I cant find anything that says Canadians can enter. Can someone shed some light on this for me? im not gonna go hardcore unless I can actually qualify for the 100% contest.
Anthology @ May 9th 2008 1:55PM
I thought it was only for the first 10 people who completed 100%. Damn, ive been playing it through a 2nd time when i could have been going for 100%. oh well, i got enough keys on my chain.
Bac0nator @ May 9th 2008 1:56PM
Can CANADIANS ENTER?????
Tucker @ May 9th 2008 2:19PM
Maybe you should post a third time, just in case someone didn't see the two posts you already made five minutes apart from each other.

No

NukeAssault @ May 9th 2008 2:20PM
76% but i doubt ill be able to get to 100.
saylorsgang @ May 9th 2008 2:38PM
Im stuck at 15%, I'm just bored already
wickedpheonix @ May 9th 2008 2:40PM
Hmmm... I could probably get it done, really only have to do stunts, pigeons, criminals, and friends, prob 20-25 hours of play altogether.... so if only I could link my gamertag to my R* social club account :( for some reason it's not working... and I'm really not surprised, for god's sake the entire site is in Flash what did they expect to happen? :P
Kyle @ May 9th 2008 2:50PM
i am not attempting 100%, it would be nice but, idk im more into the whole screwing around in gta ritual, than completing 100%
jdkay20 @ May 9th 2008 2:55PM
yes I was wishing that it would be extended. I should have 100% in the next couple of days. right now I'm at 90%.
NeoJedi Knight @ May 9th 2008 2:55PM
Does anyone know why us Canadians can't qualify for this contest? I wouldn't mind recieving this prize...
Andrew @ May 9th 2008 4:21PM
It's strange that they'll ship it across the Atlantic, but not the Canadian border...
Kiltman67 @ May 9th 2008 3:08PM
Might be fun to try, but I've got too much going on in the next week to get it done.
On the subject of the Social Club, is anybody else finding their ZiTs aren't appearing on the site? I've been doing it a lot in the game, popped onto the site and no sign of them, particularly annoying since your phone only seems to store the most recent ZiTs text.
atlnative @ May 9th 2008 4:12PM
I've had the same problem, the zits don't update and the Liberty City Marathon always shows 0% across the board.
Andrew @ May 9th 2008 4:23PM
You've linked your gamertag correct? I am able to get all my Zits and all of my marathon stats. The only thing that's not working is it keeps on telling me that I haven't completed the story when I have.
Kiltman67 @ May 9th 2008 4:52PM
Yeah I have. The site recognises that I've played GTA4, just doesn't have my ZiTs
Bootleg Zani @ May 9th 2008 4:33PM
I can't even get Social Club working. I registered my account on the day it opened and it is activated. I linked my XBL Gamertag which I know works cause I can login into Xbox.com. It refuses letting me access the GTA section even though I have met all the criteria they have set out in the FAQ. I even tried to ZIT tag songs to see if that would help but nothing as of yet.
Bootleg Zani @ May 9th 2008 4:35PM
Turns out Rockstar responded to my email.
"This is due to slow data processing on our part and we apologize. We are actively working to bring our server speeds up so that your data will be displayed in a more timely matter. Please, do not try to re-link your account each time you come back to the Social Club if your stats do not update as this only slows the Process.
Cheers,
The Rockstar Games Social Club"

I thought briefly about doing this (and I am pretty far along in the game, by my count) but then I decided I'm having too much fun just enjoying all the things I can do in Liberty City.
I stopped doing the main story to go on the Most Wanted vigilante missions for a while, and then there's the fun of just watching TV and seeing comedy club shows. Trying to kill all the pigeons is an interesting task that I want to do without cheating. And it's great to just stop and watch the city and it's people exist-- They're amazing sometimes, in their autonomy.
For example, one time I was driving around, and I stopped at a light. I mean, I was actually obeying the traffic signals on this occasion! So my car comes to a stop, and out of nowhere a car comes whipping around mine, and screeches to halt in front of me, Blocking me from going forward. Some dude jumps out of the car, rushes up to mine, and hauls me out of it, throwing me into oncoming traffic.
I get hit by an oncoming van, and knocked to the ground, quite injured, at my assailant's feet. I try to get back up and he punches me in the back of the head, twice. Suddenly, the guy who hit me with his van comes running up and pops me with his handgun as I'm stumbling, trying to get to my feet.
Dead.
I still have no idea WHY the first guy came after me. I can only assume that in my leisurely drive, I accidentally scraped his vehicle or scared him or something, and he made it a priority to chase after me. The weird thing is I never knew he was coming. I never saw anyone behind me. I never had any inkling that I was being chased until he showed up and attacked me.
I wasn't on a mission. It was just a rainy afternoon in Liberty City. I was on my way to buy a bulletproof vest, actually. I honestly don't remember hitting anybody with my car, but something made this guy want to kick my ass.
This kind of thing makes Liberty City seem a lot more alive than San Andreas did.
Boff @ May 12th 2008 7:43AM
Indeed. I won't be getting 100% any time soon as I prefer to progress at my leisure and enjoy the ambience of Liberty City!
GTA has always been one of those games that I get easily distracted doing random things that have no affect on the story at all.
I managed to get the chopper to the bottom of the chimney stack (southern part of 3rd island) and out again without touching the sides. I was even humming the Airwolf theme!!
Ross @ May 18th 2008 10:37PM
Yeah I would assume it's the social club issues. I love how I beat this game 100% like 5-6 days ago and my completion on the page only states 89%, and when I read the contest rules, I can't win anyway because I happen to currently be living in Maryland. Pretty lucky. I wish I could figure out why. There's a list of like five states and five countries and Canada that can't win. I read about Canada's reason, but everyone else I have not a clue. I was thinking about changing my gamertag's info to a family member's address in an unvoided state.
Brad P @ May 19th 2008 3:21AM
i have a 100% game progress but it does not give me the 100% on social club. i am really starting to get annoyed.
