Rumor: GTA IV will return to San Andreas
Ah, sharp-eyed forums posters. Thank you all. Without your tireless efforts the internet's tubes would be quite empty. One of them over on the GTA Forums was messing around with the Rockstar Social Club and found an interesting item, a plane ticket. For Niko. To San Andreas.
While this of course means nothing concrete (it could simply be an homage) it could refer to the DLC, which mas been rumored to resemble entirely new cities. Unfortunately, unlike real-world airplane tickets, there is no departure date for us to pine over. So, San Andreas DLC? Maybe.

Oh dear god please let it be true!
That would be killer DLC.
Anticrawl @ May 9th 2008 4:43AM
I swear to god if it isn't the DLC and is the city for the next game I will never buy a Rockstar developed game again. I was a little weary about the return to Liberty City but the game makes up for it, if they rehash another city I will loose what very little respect I have for them.
mojonix @ May 9th 2008 11:48AM
Dumbest. Comment. Ever.
AoE @ May 9th 2008 2:01PM
Huh? Um... dude, you do realize that since 1997 every numbered GTA has been set in Liberty City... don't you? It's the tradition. I hate to tell you, but when GTA V comes out, it too will be set in Liberty City. ;)
Anticrawl @ May 9th 2008 4:07PM
Yes, I'm well aware of this, which is why I'm so upset for the rehash of cities. They need to recreate a different city in the world, it's getting tired.
c.Lake @ May 9th 2008 10:11PM
Dude, it probably takes them a long time to make a new city. Especially one that's as amazing as GTA4's Liberty City.
San Andreas is an already build model. If they updated it for DLC to new console(s), like say, for Christmas or something -- it won't be so bad. That way they can take their time and build a brand New city from scratch. That one's going to be sweet.
UNSCleric @ May 9th 2008 4:45AM
How is GTA IV a rehash? Was the nearly four years of development time and 1,000 dev team not enough evidence that they worked insanely hard on the game? They practically recreated a real city, this isn't some prettied-up version of GTA3.
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ May 9th 2008 10:27AM
but it is still essentially the same game as its always been. better graphics, more detailed city, better story? yes. but its still just GTA. only things that are really NEW are the cover system and the online multiplayer (even though the PSP had multiplayer). other than that, you still have missions with the same mold, go kill that guy, drive this guy over there, steal that car, win that race, etc.
i love GTA so its fine with me and "rehash" may be a bit of a strong word but that is the point of a sequel anyway.
Digitalspirit @ May 9th 2008 4:51AM
I can't really see the DLC being San Andreas, the map is huge, it's simply not feasible.
DSK UK @ May 9th 2008 5:04AM
It could be....it would just be a very big download that may reuse textures and sounds that are on the GTA IV disk.
Or they could just recreate one of the cities in San Andreas like los santos or las venturas (sorry dunno how you spell them)
Halwende @ May 9th 2008 5:09AM
I agree, I mean it took them ages to create Liberty City - imagine how much development would be needed to re-create San Andreas...
c. thomas @ May 9th 2008 9:45AM
But they could of very well already had the dlc in development. Well we don't know! They said hours, and the city is big but not that big.
Ray @ May 9th 2008 5:11AM
i say bring back vice city!!
Zeus.:God @ May 9th 2008 4:03PM
Vice City had to have been the worst GTA ever.
Ray @ May 9th 2008 4:20PM
a virtual miami the worst??!!
no that was the best gta ever (after gta4 of course). i hated san andres
but yeah, rockstar bring it back of us!!
Raheem @ May 9th 2008 5:41AM
I really didn't enjoy San Andreas :(
SadisticHam @ May 9th 2008 6:13AM
God no. I hated SA, it was crap compared to Vice and 3. Stupid irritating characters with stupid annoying script and terrible Radio.
Remake Vice City that was the high point IMO
ManicBomber @ May 9th 2008 8:15AM
I would have agreed, but honestly I think IV wins for "worst radio stations". I wish I could get an apology for this soundtrack.
DemonGSides @ May 9th 2008 10:10AM
You're both so wrong its painful. 3 was the worst, VC had great talk radio, SA had a great rap station, and so does 4.
Fools!
Killer @ May 9th 2008 6:31AM
Why is everyone whinning about San Andreas? If it is the DLC its not going to be a complete port of the old one...Rockstar isnt a company to re-harsh old things. If this was an EA game, then yes you should be worried.
MiKeY MoFo @ May 9th 2008 7:05AM
Niko should fly to New Zealand and bust some caps in Auckland!
webster1990 @ May 9th 2008 8:08AM
Interesting
but its Niko, not Nico.
Boff @ May 9th 2008 9:20AM
Yeah can't really see it being SA due to time & effort involved, not to mention the size of the resulting download.
But we can dream!
Actually, I'd be happy with a Vice City 'skin'. All the outfits and soundtrack please!
I could quite easily cruise the streets of Liberty City in my pastel shirt and shoulder padded jacket listening to some 80's rock! Good times!!
h0tr0d cO @ May 9th 2008 9:32AM
There's a big billboard near the first safe-house in GTA IV advertising vacation packages to San Andreas....just thought I'd throw that out there.
D Boy Flex @ May 9th 2008 9:46AM
I could see this. I would see it for both consoles though. It could also be released at the same time as the exclusive DLC. Reason being that there is now a following to Saints Row and when does it come out? Well, lets just say that a DLC like this would blow Saints Row right out the water. This would be one way to crush the competition. I can hope it is true. Personally, I like GTA better, but still enjoyed SR and look forward to SR2. Not nearly as much as GTA4, but enough to put some time aside for Stillwater chaos. Seems like this would be good marketing. Hey, buy GTA and get 2 cities. Maybe it took four years cause they had so much more to develop, like additional cities!!!
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ May 9th 2008 9:57AM
I'd like the setting of GTA:SA, but the ghetto stuff in the game got really old. I can only take it in small doses. I'd love to see Nico goes San Andreas.
Frank @ May 9th 2008 10:06AM
I want it to be Boston, so Mayor Menino flips out and has a bumbling, fat attack.
I mean c'mon... it's a small city, and it's only a stones throw from New York, erm, I mean "Liberty City".
Chaunches @ May 9th 2008 10:19AM
Yeah i dont see San Andreas coming to DLC due to most people probally have 1gb of HDD space due to microsofts tiny little HDD and the 120's costing your ass.. its more doable on the wait for it.... PS3!
love my Xbox still tho
Zeus.:God @ May 9th 2008 4:04PM
I have 10.7GB left on my 20GB hard drive (13, really). I have no clue what you're talking about.
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ May 9th 2008 10:32AM
im just interested to see if the DLC can make me jealous of the 360 version. like if it was extra missions or something then i could care less, but being able to run around the wholes of San Andreas would make me jealous. i dont thing they would just throw you in another city though cause then you would probably have to add another story and that would be essentially another game and not an add on. i could see them opening up another island off the coast or something though but not the whole city of San Andreas.
Jenag @ May 9th 2008 11:50AM
Don't forget how many times Vice City is referenced in GTA IV. Theres commercials on the radio about it all the time, not to mention some of the stuff on the phone. For all we know it could be a brand new city and all these little tidbits(even using SA animations on the TV when showing las venturas) could just be homages to the other GTA's.
Huey2k2 @ May 9th 2008 12:06PM
As a man who doesn't enjoy Rap/Hip-hop and all that stuff, the GTA4 sound track is highly disappointing.
AoE @ May 9th 2008 2:09PM
Then Huey2k2, you're a man who also hasn't tried changing the radio station. You do realize that there's Philip Glass and Steve Reich on the soundtrack, right? If they're too cultured for you, maybe Jazz? There's also Count Basie, John Coltrane, etc. Or perhaps you prefer electro? how about Simian Mobile Disco, Nitzer Ebb, Boys Noize, and sebastiAN? Funk more your style? Then what about Fela Kuti, The Meters, Gil Scott-Heron? I haven't even touched on all the genres of music in the game either dude. Have you even play the game? Seen the box for it? Somehow I doubt it. Rap/Hip-hop my ass. How about you buy/rent the game and find out before you attempt to talk shit?
Huey2k2 @ May 9th 2008 2:37PM
Rent/Buy the game before I talk shit? I have the game, check out my gamertag, it's Huey2k2. The fact is the soundtrack of the game just doesn't appeal to my tastes in music, why is that so hard to believe?
I'm a metal head, always have been, there is a "rock" station in the game, but most of the music on it is crappy 80's stuff. There is a hardcore station, but I don't like punk/hardcore.
Maybe YOU need to stop talking shit.
Zeus.:God @ May 9th 2008 4:06PM
AoE, you're a fool.
Huey, I totally agree with you. Not only is there not much in the way of Rock/Metal, the talk shows are short and not as funny as they used to be. Not that it's a big deal or anything, they really have let that aspect slip.
Etchasketchist @ May 9th 2008 4:52PM
You should use this as an opportunity to learn to like rap, hip-hop, afro-beat, and jazz. Instead of turtling up into your little niche genre tribalism and saying everything else sucks, open your mind and ears a little and get enjoy some culture. Otherwise you're just a grouchy dork.
mark @ May 9th 2008 8:56PM
the custom soundtracks feature doesn't work?
milliondeadmartian @ May 9th 2008 6:20PM
I have no idea if I drempt this up or not but is the DLC city not likely to be Carser City or whatever the "secret city" from GTA III was called.
Musicman247 @ May 9th 2008 11:01PM
Nobody else saw the Departing time 10.15 on there?
Microsoft has been saying that the GTA IV DLC would be coming in Fall, and I would say October 15th would definitely be Fall.
What do you guys think?
Cj @ May 30th 2008 11:34PM
