Rumor: Rare game a sequel to a released 360 title

More rumors folks! This time it's in regards to that unannounced Rare game that's going to be hitting before year's end. According to a poster on NeoGAF who claims to be under NDA (a claim backed up by other posters' reactions to the info), the title is a sequel to a game of Rare's that has already been released on the 360. Logically, that narrows things down quite a bit. Is it Kameo? With Banjo Kazooie on the way? No. A Perfect Dark game? With Gears 2 on the way? No. Jetpac Re-Refueled? Hell No.

Given that this is a rumor, we could still be way off base, but we're gonna call this one as a Viva Pinata sequel. If it is, hopefully Microsoft will actually market it this time around, so people know about it and it actually sells.

I say it's a 50/50 throw up between Viva Pinata 2 and the next Perfect Dark game. I say this because the original VP pretty much tanked correct? I also don't see how it could really improve on the original gameplay so soon after the last game was released. It feels like a series that should only have one installment every 5 years or so.

I'm with this dude, if they made a fairly decent content pack for VP with new Pinatas, flowers and tools I'd be all over that too

Actually X3F I think your wrong. It's MUCH more likely to be a Perfect Dark sequal than Viva Pinata imho.

Why? Two reasons.

The first is that Viva Pinata came out in 06, whereas PDZ was a full year earlier in 05 - it's time for a new great FPS like PDZ again. Sure, its dated now (the aiming is poor, single player isn't as great as it was) but at the time it had some of the best, lag free multiplayer ever with a good single player to match. If they could speed up the gameplay a little, it would be great.

Secondly, Gears 2 coming out doesn't mean a new Perfect Dark can't come the same year. With all Sony's exclusive big hitters (minus Killzone 2 now) hitting this year, Microsoft need more big hitters in response - Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 were on the cards to release same year just mere days ago, remember?

I think it's more likely to be a new Perfect Dark. I hope so, as much as I enjoyed Viva Pinata. This year M$ need to worry about the BEST titles rather than attracting the child/casual market to counteract PS3.

Not to say you're wrong (who knows what'll happen), but I do find it funny that you mention the best titles versus the casual titles when PDZ was considered inferior to VP by many.

I'd rather see a HUGE kameo, like oblivion huge.
Or you might see a Perfect Dark that rivals the size of Resistance for MP stuff.

Doubt it though.

I want Kameo also! Kameo in my opinion is better than Perfect Dark and Viva Pinata. I loved Kameo.

VP was at around 500,000 shortly after the price cut, it didn't do too terribly on a system not know for games like this.

But I'd definitely pick it up if true, I loved the original.

The show is still on the air, so maybe there'd be a bit more interest this time around.

I think that a Kameo sequal could be possible. Banjo and Kameo are very different, BUT the team that makes Banjo makes Viva Jinata. So that alone makes me think Viva Pinata 2 won't get a sequal so fast.

I think it is either Kameo or Perfect Dark- and it has been 3 years (I am talking about holiday 08, when it will come out)- so it seems very possible.
