Photoshop Frankie, then you can haz Recon

If you're looking for new Halo 3 information, then this week's Bungie Weekly Update isn't for you because Frankie is still missing in action and isn't doing his job. Though, if you're looking for a new way to earn Recon armor AND a way to mock Frankie publicly, then this week's Bungie Weekly Update IS for you.

Bungie is holding a contest where they're challenging expert (and not so expert) Photoshoppers to take some old Frankie photos (ones where he actually has hair) and mess with him. The three categories for entry include Best Use of Frank's Image via an Existing Internet Meme, Best Utilization of Frank's Image in a Motivational Poster and Best Use of Frank's Image Inspired by a Major Motion Picture and the winner from each category will walk away with Recon. I dunno, but Bungie's still making people work for the Recon armor? Kinda sketchy, if you ask me. Halo 3 already lost a lot of it's luster and the fact that Bungie wants you to work for armor that really shoulda been there already? Eh. I'm perfectly willing to accept that I'm being a little tough on Bungie and maybe a bit unfair when it comes to Halo 3. But good lord. It's been 8 months since Halo 3 dropped.

Good christ, Bungie. Just give everyone the recon. Be a good incentive to bring the people back who've moved to COD4 or R6V2.

Are you on drugs or something? Tons of people still play Halo 3 and that will be the way till the next Halo. HECK, people still play Halo 2. Not loads, but still more than enough. Halo is far from dead. CoD4 will be played less than Halo 3 in the future, that's a guarentee. You think people who still don't play Halo would come back for Recon? Which EVERYONE would then be wearing? Uhhh nah. Recon is a blessed prize to the Halo community and it should stay that way - people who aern't playing Halo now have no need to come back. The Halo community is still bursting at the seams (and I have to say, the CoD4 community is filled with more idiots than Halo 3's BY FAR surprisingly)

And before disagreeing with that fact, just remember how popular Halo 2 was and how many "hardcore" players played it. Think of the MLG adoption of it as their main game (far and away over CoD4) - they wouldn't adopt it unless it was in high demand.

If Bungie gave everyone Recon armor, why in the world would people be "rushing back" to Halo? It wouldn't be special anymore, so no one would care.

Am I on drugs? Not hardly. I wasn't aware that that I had to be on a mind-altering substance to have a differing opinion than anyone else. In fact, I would think it would be the other way around, considering that most drugs make you act a certain way. I don't ever recall saying that Halo was dead. Not once. I said that it's lost it's luster, not it's fanbase. But I seriously doubt that Halo 3 will make a resurgence. You've got games such as Rainbow Six Vegas 2, COD4, GTA4...all of which have clearly more interesting gameplay. Sure, Halo 2 was adopted by MLG. That's all well and good, but so's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, which's trashed Halo 3 in the multiplayer listings multiple times.

Also; there's not going to be another Halo. Not like the three current games. That's already been announced. You're thinking Halo Wars, which isn't even in the same FPS vein. And actually? I quit Halo 3 because of the idiots in multiplayer. Call Of Duty 4 is known well over for it's lesser amounts of idiots in there. I, personally, have seen too many kids in Halo 3 screaming "F**K F**K VETOVETOVETOYOUDUMBN**GER" in too many playlists to really want to go back. It's asinine to have to deal with that all for some armor? Sure. There's the mute key. But we technically shouldn't HAVE to use a mute key if people were respectful about it, as opposed to just blurting random things in the comms and screaming racial slurs when they get defeated. I've encountered far less of that in COD4, which consistently beat Halo 3 in the multiplayer ranks multiple weeks in a row. All of that for a piece of armor? We should do special things for a piece of armor for a game that's really not much different than Halo 2 other than the weapons? Nah, dude. Sorry...doesn't fly like that. There is a reason that a LOT of people ditched Halo 3.

Sure. Recon is a blessed prize to the community, but how much of a community do you guys really have? Look back at the stats for Halo 3 in the multiplayer listings on XBL and how SOUNDLY it got defeated by COD4, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and now GTA 4. And then you tell me. Is Halo going to last as a game? Oh DEFINITELY. I'm not denying that. But it's not exactly the gem you're making it out to be. Sure, everyone would have recon armor. Isn't that the point of it anyways? For everyone to eventually get the recon armor? Why make us keep jumping through hoops for something like that?
