Video: This is Gears of War 2

Even earlier then promised, here she be in all her glory! Embedded above is the just released (literally minutes old) and very first in-game footage of Epic's Gears of War 2 thanks to the fine folks over at GameVideos. We don't want to spoil the video experience for you, so we advise just jumping in head first. But if you have to know, there's bunch of sexy gameplay, some story talk, chainsaw duels, hostages and neck snapping ... FREAKIN' DELICIOUS. Click play, take it in, discuss and commence your drooling mechanisms. We'll have time for analysis later.

Remember, there is only ONE exclusive GoW2 video being released tonight and this is it. Both Gametrailers TV and the XBLM will be debuting this same trailer today at 2:00AM eastern.

GoW is a very very very overrated game. It was WAY too short and the story line is horrible. Gameplay was fun, but thats about it. It didn't last very long, hopefully GoW2 is longer and has a better story line. The whole hostage thing seems like a gimmick. Most of the time in these games you are just guns blazing. And chainsaw battles? Really, who cares?

Just saying. I will definitely be buying GoW2, just saying, it isn't as amazing a game as it is led on to be. It is kind of like Heavenly Sword for PS3, except not as bad. PS3 owners talk it up big time but it is meh. Same thing for GoW. I have both systems and I bought my 360 because of how much everyone talked up GoW. Found myself truly dissapointed. Thankfully BioShock came along.

Well I think you're in the minority as far as "Gears one being a disappointment" was concerned....

I'll be the first to admit there were several things they could have done better, especially story-wise, but I played the hell out of Gears... and loved every minute of it.

I don't think it was a dissapointment, just dissapointing. All I am saying is that it is way overrated, not that it is the worst game EVAR. Set the bar graphically as far as I can concerned, which then got eclipsed by uncharted, which will not get eclipsed likely by GoW2 or Killzone 2, both of which look amazing. Also MGS4s environments look fantastic. Bioshock was great also.

The game was a let down for me as well cause I had a couple of my friends talking to me like it was the best game of all time, and then I got it and absolutely HATED the multiplayer. Not respawning is not an option for me in multiplayer.

I loved single player though, probably more than Halo 3, I just hope they make it so you can customize your respawn options.

what are you talking about? i don't remember running around spraying everything in sight when i played the first gears, especially on insane. i remember taking cover and making every shot count. this new locust shield thing seems like it's going to make it easier to maneuver around maps inbetween cover without getting eaten up by enemy fire. gtfo with your idiocy.

I was actually sucked in by the first Gears game. It was short, but I must have played through the campaign at least 3 times because it was so compelling. To each his own, I guess.

Gears 2 is too overhyped. People are going to be disappointed in the game because everyone keeps saying how great it is. The graphics hardly look any better than the original Gears. The gameplay looks fun as hell, but the graphics sure don't match Uncharted.

Valr i had a ps3 that i won in a raffle.I had uncharted that came with it along with resistance.I sold it as soon as i seen how bad the ps3 really was.The sad part about all this is anyone with a brain knows the 360 is far superior in every aspect.Why does it bother you so much?

I don't need to buy a 360, that's what friends are for. He comes to my house to play PS3, I go to his for 360. I've played Halo 3's campaign, it licked nuts. The original Halo had a better storyline. Maybe if you read my comment more clearly, you'd notice I wasn't bashing the 360 at all. I'll restate what I said since you have trouble reading.

Halo 3's graphics were amazing, but the story sucked.

Gears 2 graphics look O.K., not the BEST I'VE EVER SEEN OMFGWTTFTFTF, and the gameplay looks fun. It'll definitely sell good, but I doubt it'd be one of the greatest FPS, it just looks too much like the first with added extra chimes and whistles.

I have a pioneer elite so i doubt it was my tv i had the white levels set and had it over hdmi.I simply stated theat almost every ps3 game especially uncharteds lighting is overdone it makes anything and everything over glossy look athe rocks they look like plastic a good example is motorstorm as well.

Kz2 looking the best out of the ps3 titles it even lacks with its textures on distant objects and the guns once again a sony issue look like plastic.

The fact is the ps3 gpu is lacking compared to the 360 and it shows in its titles and the cell not now or in the next 4 years is gonna change that.The cell is not a gpu and even if it was used for graphics then the game due to bottleknecking issues will lack elsewhere ai etc.

The only glossy rocks are the ones near rivers/waterfall. Most of the other rocks have moss and vines over them, not very glossy.

No, actually, I'll tell you why. I was excited about a Gears 2 video so I jumped over here to view it.

I never stated that I had thought Uncharted was the best looking game. I had just said Uncharted looked better than Gears 2 from this video. But I'll compare Gears 2 with another game, then. The Gears 2 scenery doesn't look as great as Oblivion's. There isn't much that stands out. As for the models and armor textures, guns, etc, they look almost exactly like the first Gears game.

Finally, some decent scenery. Don't get me wrong, GoW 1 kicked major ass, but the constant grey everything kinda got old after a while. Trees kick ass! Looks like the town is inspired by the kind of architecture you usually see in WW2 shooters. I like it. This is looking beyond awesome. Reminds me why I liked the first one so much. Think I'll pop it in this weekend...

Several reactions during the video:
1. - New Rifle seems like a nice addition, more accurate, single shots... Gears 1 lacked a good medium range weapon
2. - Did he just use that Locust as a human shield!?!?
3. - Nice Brute spiker Marcus is weilding... (new weap #2)
4. - The slow-mo brumak bullets to the face kill was a nice touch.
5. - Please God, don't let this game get delayed...
6. - That frame rate seemed ROCK solid... as in even more solid than the first Gears

November can't get here fast enough it seems.

The new Lancer rifles fire seems a lot more accurate seems like the lance will be a better mid range weapon.

The single shot rifle seems damn effective and I hope enough shots to the head will result in one of Gears ooooh so over the top headshots.

The new down animation seems to convey alot more hopelessness. Maybe we will get to see some more curbstomp animations.

I do hope that they play up the victory sawing of the chainsaw duel because once Marcus wins its kinda lackluster. Just straight through him no screaming in agony or anything.

Those graphics are supreme i think this will definetly be the best looking game for 08 and 09 easy.Look at how the textures and lighting are so robust and the trees look insane.Did see all those fucking locust on the screen running wholly shit and a solid looking framerate.I dont know how cliffy does it but why cant every developer do what he does.

It sucks that ps3 only owners will miss out on such a title.

I really liked the first game but If I hadn't read so many online previews and interviews I would have been completely lost. The game never explained story points as basic as what the locust were or why they were attacking. I know the game has a much more fleshed out backstory and i would like to see more of it in game.

I really liked the fist gears but it wore thin after a while. Always doing the same things. Always running for the weapons in multiplayer matches.
After seeing this video, Im pretty impressed. This doesnt look like a direct sequel. More like Gears to the next level; lots of new ideas, new stuff, new kinds of levels....

I think this game will probably be a bigger hit than the first gears games ,,,

I didn't like the weapon pick up sytem in the first, how you were shown where you were when you picked up a weapon. Although it did make it different from other games, which is what made it unique.

Looks pretty darn good. I will be picking this up. I think this game will sell some systems, the detail was incredible, and framerate looked really smooth.

To all the people who wrote that "gears is overrated" are freaking insane. Yes the first was short but Gears is 1000x's better then Halo and almost every other shooter out ever! COD 4 is my 2nd fav. shooter. Stop hatting and enjoy this amazing game. And to all the PS3 owners get of xbxo 360 fanboy and stay on your page. I own a PS3 and it sucks! You know, other people can have different opinions. Just because GoW isn't their bag doesn't mean you need to insult them. I loved GoW while it lasted, but it just wore thin after a while. GoW2 looks really awesome though! Hopefully they'll make it so that it's switched up enough and then I'd definitely buy it!
