With so many leaks already reported, the first official Microsoft Gamers Day news is starting to drop. One of the first, and perhaps most anticipated, bit is the debut trailer for Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. The video focuses primarily on the game's vehicle creation tool. Several vehicles are shown, from massive land vehicles to missile-firing air vehicles, all of which appear to be made of mix-and-match parts. Some platforming is also shown, but vehicles definitely seem to be the star of the show. Oh, and the end of the video is more or less an outright declaration of superiority over Nintendo's Mario. Watch it. Now.
Update: GameVideos edited the Mario headshot. We've replaced the video with the unedited version from YouTube.
I agree. Looks like Rare killed off Banjo with this game adding in vehicles and what not.
It's not Banjo, never will be, they should just get rid of the vehicles and focus ONLY on platforming and puzzles and not adding things in just to make it "extreme" for the Xbots. Then again, the Xbots wouldn't like this game anyway 'cause it's too cartoony for them.
There's clearly platforming in it, I'd not be worried about that. Rare has addressed that directly and both this video and screenshots show other things to do aside from driving around.
Yeah, this video and the screenshots have made me a little worried for this one. I don't want to be driving vehicles around -- I want to jump around with a bird and bear looking for little notes.
Where are all the good platformers lately? I had to buy a Wii to play Mario and get my jumping/exploring fix.
I know Rare has spoken out and assured us that there's platforming in the game, but this trailer doesn't help that cause. Other than the characters, the music, and the random appearance of a jigsaw piece, the trailer showed nothing that resembles the BK games.
I'll have to see a lot more to make me want it at $60.
Looks like they took a bunch of different game play elements and threw them in a blender and crap came out.
The visuals look nice but I'm going to need to see a lot more platforming elements if they are trying to convince us that this game is a Mario killer with that little stab at the end of the trailer.
I think this game is actually a regular 3-d platformer and the vehicules are made of the stuff you collect... instead of coins, rings, gems, you wil collect parts to make cars planes and boats
your able to put what you collect to use.How is this a bad idea its a step forward in platforming.Instead of useless coins and jewels you get to build shit that makes your quest that much easier to complete.
Apparently there are 1600 parts to collect throughout the entire game. You use those parts to build your own custom vehicles and play through the levels to complete or reach stuff that you couldn't have otherwise.
This article was better at explaining what you do in the game then the trailer does:
Oh I so can not wait. Everything that Banjo Kazooie was back in the N64 glory days with so much more expanded onto it. Cartoony sound effects, cartoony gameplay, collecting jiggys, facing off against grunty, making vehicles, the cartoony humor. I was a die hard fan of the two games back then and would still play them, but sadly can't cause I no longer have them =(. Oh those were the days. I can't wait!
That trailer blew my mind when I first watched it. So much crazy stuff there that no other game offers. Bravo to Rare for taking a bold step - hopefully they can take it home.
What the crap is this? The vehicle part of the game looks fucking retarded, what the hell were they thinking? God forbid they made a fucking platformer on the 360, how many of those are there? ARE THERE ANY?!
Those of you that are bragging about the game not being a platformer, you are either very antsy or are just a brainless fanboy. The game isn't out yet, the first video we have seen, the company has stated that the game is a platformer so shut up.
Also in my opinion I think the game looks great and the platforming part will have you collecting parts for possible vehicles. Thats better then collecting rings or coins just to stay a live or get a higher number.
Hmm....lets see, perfect dark on N64 sweet....PD on 360...NO! Banjo on N64 nice..impression so far from this video for Banjo on the 360...NO!. I will cut Rare some slack when they start making good games again. Hows about taking a stab at a new Killer Instinct.....cause this isn't cutting it.
They said this will be a platformer... Also, I doubt you gotta use vehicles all the time... I obviously see walkways down there lol. Also... the customization is so advanced no other game has done this before. (Except for maybe Little BIG Planet).
everyone is freaking out over snippets of footage, just relax and settle down. they were probably just showcasing the new stuff in the game...think of it as a platformer where you control vehicles instead of just thinking it'll be a vehicle/mini game bonanza, it makes it go down much much easier.
I have to say, my nostalgia kicked in when I saw this, and I find myself missing the old Banjo, and also wishing this looked more like it. This doesn't look like a Banjo game at all.
On the other hand, I REALLY like the idea of the game. I find myself wishing the same exact game was made without Banjo Kazooie, and then a new BK game more similar to the old ones would come out.
Regardless, I think I'll be buying this game, though probably not at $60. I'll wait 'til the price drops
I am a huge Banjo-Kazooie fan, and I hope this is not the main objective of the game right here. I will already say they ruined the graphics of the characters, face it the old graphics were better than those. I am glad that they will have some of the old characters return. I really wish that I could get this game but I am not going to buy a game system for one game.

Stupid Game Trailers not working for me.
Probably for the best anyway. The video game industry penis wagging stuff needs to go away now.

I agree Tony.
Otherwise how would you get the parts to build the vehicles ?
People need to calm down. Let this company breathe a little. This game is going to kick ass and take names.
marlos @ May 13th 2008 12:33PM
this made me want to play rachet and clank again...
Mike Sylvester @ May 13th 2008 12:37PM
I can see a few places where the rumored MS-Remote could work.
PerfectStrategy @ May 13th 2008 12:38PM
Wow this game looks like it will be incredible. The vehicle stuff is amazing, it will make the game so much more fun.
The 360 Mario and Mario Kart killer.

Ysleiro @ May 13th 2008 3:04PM
My dude when you release Gears Of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Crackdown and Forza all in the span of one year.
It's YOUR freaking year.
Alexisonfire @ May 13th 2008 3:29PM
Gears of War came out in 2006. Everything else came out in 2007.
And about who won what year, completely opinion based. Its just not possible for everyone to like one game.
