Gears of War 2 features weapon specific executions [update]

Update: It was just brought to our attention that GSB's Spring Showcase video features previously unseen footage of another execution. Look for Marcus fist punching the snot out of a Locust at around 30 seconds in.

After digging through today's new Spring Showcase Gears of War 2 press kit, on what we initially thought to be an unsuccessful mission to find something new, we stumbled across an interesting feature reveal. Listed on the official GoW2 May 2008 fact sheet comes mention that the "overall tone of 'Gears of War 2' is more badass - replete with new weapon-specific executions, chain saw duels and shocking boss fights." Weapon specific executions? SUH-WEET! Maybe that's why the recently released gameplay video didn't show the option to curb stomp Locusts which lead us to think neck-snapping replaced the iconic foot to the back of head, head to the curb move. We can only imagine what other weapon specific executions will be included when Gears ships and what twisted execution the crew over at Epic will think up for the torque bow.

yeah there is a punching combo marcus does not sure what weapon he is holding but he mounts the locust and just puts down heavy hits to the face. Check the new gamerscore blog video and it shows what im talking about.

hmmm torque bow execution... shove it up their a$$ and fire one off? ... or down their throat?

executions sound great... but i really hope they bring executions/duals/cover all to multiplayer....

as the single player from part 1 was ok, albeit short, but the multiplayer lacked depth... if they make it with 12-16 player online, more weapons, more gamemodes, a ladder to aquiring rank in the cog, and as i said bring cover/duals/and exectutions to the multiplayer this might be the most badass game ever!

Have you actually looked at any Gears footage or played the first game? There is no fucking way in hell anything is going to run 12-16 characters on screen. The player limit isn't by choice it's because the system can't run it. Maybe if you had a $25,000 PC you could run it.

dont be an idiot if they can f*cking show ~100 locusts on screen doing things and giant brumacks and stuff theirs no reason they cant fit 12 COG soldiers on the screen. and graphics hvae 0 to do with online gameplay, they're not f*cking sending the entire character animation over the internet.

I have played gears ... and yes it looks amazing im just saying epic made unreal engine, theyve done some amazing things, its the same engine running UT3 so like i said my suggestions would rock multiplayer and skyrocket gears back to #1 easily way beyond even cod4.

gears set the mark high, but then cod4 set it higher, so i want gears2 to set it even higher! they cna do it, bringing the single player specialty moves to multiplayer and larger maps/games would be awesome.

Seeing as how UT3 managed to get that many people on screen at one time on the PS3 (and soon, the 360) it's not technically impossible for Gears. Honestly I don't care about the number of players, so much as I care about them fixing the oft-criticized "Net Code" that seems to be the sinking point of GOW1. Then again, I don't think there is anything that GOW2 could do at this point to pull me away from COD4...maybe give me an unlockable uber-snipe of doom like COD4? That would be amazing.
