Survey hints at new Rock Band 2 additions
Team Joystiq has learned through a few anonymous tips that EA with the help of Listen Research are conducting surveys for Rock Band 2. And with any pre-release video game survey, we get some insight to where the dev team is headed. The survey questions are said to target various topics including Rock Band 2 pricing, how many expansions one would be willing to buy and the likelihood of purchasing Rock Band over a game like Guitar Hero IV. But most noteworthy is rumor that some of the surveys mention certain feature additions including the World Tour being online with a music video creator and the ability to hire a staff. Also, a Battle of the Bands mode is mentioned where players go head to head against other rival bands in daily or weekly battles. Finally, some surveys are rumored to talk about a new drum trainer mode being added to the sequel, something we really, really, really need.

with those features i wouldn't mind buy a rock band 2 this year but the dlc would have to carry over or that would be a big slap in the face.

Not only that, but I would also want access to play the current songs in the new version (whether it is by free download if you have the original, or it rips them off the original disc...)

That is a big concern for me all the music i downloaded for the first needs to be copied over by a patch or something it doesn't have to have the features that rb2 will have but just as an extra for multi-player.

Not sure I need a Rock Band 2 just yet.

- DLC from RB would need to carry over to RB2.
- Instruments from RB one would have to able to be used in RB2.
- No introduction of some "new" instrument that really makes it so you "need" to get a full package again.
- RB2 sold by itself
The thing is though...I think RB is great..and a lot of fun. They could just continue doing some things through DLC and be just fine. But of course, making RB2 is just making more money and when it comes to EA, that is all they want!

didn't you guys post a story a while back saying that they weren't going to do a sequel, but instead support Rock Band through DLC ?

Like Harmonix says, it's about the music. So, I agree that every song needs to carry over. What I hated most about Guitar Hero was having to switch out discs to play my favorite songs. I'd be just fine sticking to downloads and not having to purchase a new disc. How about downloadable expansions? But, yes, as Deck mentioned, EA wants the cash.

First of all calm the down. It's just a survey. It's very likely that Rock Band 2 is coming out holiday '09.
A two year development cycle is reasonable don't you think? When do you want Harmonix to start doing research for Rock Band 2? A month before the game is supposed to come out?
Just take a deep breath and think about. If it wasn't for the internet you won't know about shit until it was already in the store. But when you do get early info you freak out and jump to conclusions.

off point but, that show is called "Family Fortunes" in the UK and was hosted by Les Dennis for ages.
(if you don't know who he is, your not missing anything, but he was in Extras and got butt naked in front of Gervais)
Boff @ May 16th 2008 4:41AM
He was tooling Amanda Holden at one point too. Before she did the dirty on him ;o)

Rock Band 2????? What about Rock Band 1 in the UK?

I think it would be awesome to add a new instrument to rock band 2 like, a keyboard or something so it could be more enjoyable because I mean the usb hub can hook up four instruments and you can plug in one more into the xbox. Plus another thing would be a mode where you can make your own music.
