EA deadline for Take-Two offer ends tonight

Remember kids, EA's $25.74 per share deadline offer for Take-Two ends tonight at 11:59PM EDT. Originally offering $26 per share and a purchase price of $2 billion, EA had lowered its offer when Take-Two declined to sell in April. Currently trading closer to $27 a share, Take-Two Interactive has been in EA's sights for quite some time--so does anyone think this deadline will stop them from trying again?
EA says they want Take-Two, so are they really going to give up? What else could they do? Well, EA could always lower their offer to Take-Two again, just to scare them. It's like those old sitcoms where two people haggle over money and one gets progressively lower just to scare the other guy into submission. What we're saying is that EA is basically the gaming equivalent of Balki Bartokomous.
Some analysts think this whole thing will be hammered out over the weekend, but we'll have to wait and see.

EA is a cancer to the gaming industry.

Or Herpes
DjDATZ @ May 16th 2008 3:28PM
AIDS. They infect, and you can never get rid of them.
Davis @ May 17th 2008 2:01AM
That's basically the same as herpes. But also like herpes, EA will go away if only for a day or two before coming back in full force.

"EA says they want Take-Two, so are they really going to give up? What else could they do?"
EA could go to hell. That's an option, right?
Dick @ May 16th 2008 2:32PM
I mean, I really really really want to be rid of these danged herpes once and for all, and I really, really wanna bang Jessica Alba, but neither seems likely to occur at all (especially given the fact I have the Herp).
Just cuz you want it really really bad, don't mean you're getting a g-damned thing.
EA is like herpes.
They won't go away.
That and Paris Hilton, who sees something she wants and buys it/takes it because her money makes her think she can do whatever she wants.
And Paris Hilton has Herpes.
So there ya go, it all comes full circle.

Let the deadline pass!
Shareholders, Boardmembers, executives at Take Two -
Say Screw you to the NazEA party!

EA is the best. I'll sell them my shares for $25 right now. That's a great group of folks over there. ;)

Got to put my two cents in:
This is an honest question, not sarcastic, but what is so wrong with EA? I went and looked at their games list (to make sure I knew kind of what I was talking about), and I own many of those games, which I am sure you do too. Why are we so fast to rip down big corporations? Hey, I agree that it sucks that we can't have 2k games do NFL football till like 2099 or something like that, but I have played Madden '08, and it ain't bad!
Everyone hates so much on the internet, but goes out and buys the games, it is really weird!
AnOffday @ May 16th 2008 3:11PM
They don't believe in competition. They believe in just buying them out. And when they do, they basically can create the crappiest game they want, and it'll still sell since it's the only thing out there.
They also have a nasty little habit of charging people for things that no one else does, or charging us for content that was already on the disc.
mian @ May 16th 2008 3:32PM
It's called ambivalence. EA has some nice franchises. They also have a tendency to riddle them with game-crippling bugs and then not bother to fix them. Later, when asked about it, they respond "What are you going to do, buy Command and Conquer from another publisher?" This is followed by a half-squeal, half-cackle, and we respond with defeated silence.
We know they're right. We're not going to walk away. That doesn't mean we're going to pretend we enjoy taking it in the can.
mike shea @ May 17th 2008 2:47AM
dude, im not in the most soberiest of positions but I want to explain to you why EA is not a good corportation.
One, like most corporations they dont want to achive a good game, they look for money.
And if that means, cutting thier developers off (because theyve now become an assest) they will. They are rude to their developers and will squeeze for a buck.
Read all that shit online man.
Working for EA sucks, and if you work there, be prepared to be dropped on your ass if you slide
(look at EA Chicago)

I am so Happy! I do the dance of Joy!
Revray @ May 16th 2008 5:19PM
Thanks for the response, I appreciate not getting flamed. I was unaware of those practices simply because I do not ever buy anything extra, just the game. Probably need to do more hoework so I can understand the issue.
UNSCleric @ May 16th 2008 3:30PM
Why should one corporation own every game that comes out? The gaming industry is not Nazi Germany.
ZEBRA NINER @ May 16th 2008 3:35PM
That's right, Nazis are well known for the choke hold they had on gaming back in the 30's and 40's.
History repeats itself, right?
AnOffday @ May 16th 2008 4:36PM
Zebra: Go to Google and type in "define analogy."
It might help keep you from embarrassing yourself some where down the road.
ZEBRA NINER @ May 16th 2008 5:37PM
It was a joke. A little jokey-joke. Why are you always so negative? I thought we were friends. Go to Google and type in: "Broken Heart" and you'll see a picture of you breaking my heart.
Grimm @ May 16th 2008 5:32PM
This won't ever happen...if EA buys out Take-Two they won't be independent anymore. Take-Two easily makes enough revenue owning 2k Games and Rockstar. They really have no need for this especially since EA will take away their freedom to develop and publish what they want. EA is trying to jump into the big leagues by buying out a large publishing company but it won't ever happen.
