Frank O'Connor leaves Bungie for more Halos

For Bungie fans one name has been synonymous with a Halo branded encyclopedia of knowledge and human complaint cushion. Frank O'Connor, content manager at Bungie Studios, has announced he is leaving his position and heading to Microsoft in order to work more closely on the Halo franchise.
In his final weekly update, Frankie thanks fans for their continued support and for not following up on various death threats made throughout the years. We'd like to believe that's a joke, but we're sure it isn't.
Frankie left fans with something they've grown to expect from Bungie's public face, a tease for the future. "I was busy working on a story for one of our next games, an experience that is destined to surprise, amaze and entertain like nothing we've ever made before." We know every Bungie fan is holding their breath for the next morsel of info that drops and can't wait to see what Bungie has in store for the future.
Take care Frankie, and don't be a stranger.

Halo made MS something close to half a billion dollars. Halo's story isn't dead. They'll milk it til its dead tho, don't worry

About time you guys do a story on this...it's the biggest story of 2008 so far.

I hope that we will get some real Halo games, I am all for new angles, but I would like the good old FPS to stick around in the franchise.

I wonder if this means that since he is leaving to work on the Halo franchise, that Bungie's next game won't be the rumored 3rd Person Shooter prequel to the Halo (1-3) story.

Wow... I think I just lost all reason to check Bungie. His weekly updates were the only things that brought me there to check in on anything, including stats or downloads. =\

Atleast we have lukems
Josh @ May 17th 2008 4:14PM
Lukems is good but Frankie, to me, -was- Bungie.net. On top of the Wings losing, Frankie leaving made this quite the bad day.
erivera3 @ May 18th 2008 12:50AM
yeah, it sucks to lose frankie, but at least he is still going to be focusing on the Halo universe and helping create bigger and better games!
I can't wait to see the next Halo game, after seeing the amazing advancements made in halo 3 I can only dream of how great future games will be!
brian @ May 19th 2008 4:49AM
Does anyone actually think this series has any room to move 'up-hill'? I certainly hope so.
Halo 3 could have been a lot better, though I love the game. The graphics have been flushed down the proverbial toilet in comparison to games of similar caliber.
Hobo Fight Club @ May 19th 2008 6:18AM
Since this sounds like the franchise is strong enough as a brand to not be associated with a single developer, this news brings me hope that there will be a centralized Halo website. Bungie.net was fine but I was hoping that Halo Wars and any future Halo games would have extensive stat tracking and community features similar to those found in Halo 3. Having it all on one site would create a stronger community around Halo and make it much easier on gamers.
