Rock Band DLC: European tracks galore
It's a very special European edition of Rock Band DLC Friday today as our friends overseas will soon be experiencing all that Rock Band has to offer (and an expensive offer at that). So, Harmonix being the cool cats they are, has decided to offer up the tracks that were previously exclusive to Europe's edition of Rock Band. Without further wait, check the break for a complete list of all nine European songs that'll hit the XBLM next Tuesday, May 20th for 160 Microsoft points each. And yes, there will be Muse and Wes Wampas. Be happy.

I've heard of Blur, Muse, and Oasis. WTF?
UNSCleric @ May 16th 2008 2:45PM
Great, more shitty DLC. The only good song in the last month has been It Hurts by AvA.
zourskittles @ May 16th 2008 6:55PM
you have poor taste. sure i love AVA, favorite band. but to play that song on rock band was so freaking boring, no matter what i played as. and im sure your saying they suck just cause youve never heard of most of them anyways.
Studley @ May 16th 2008 2:48PM
WTF? These tracks are actually being released to XBLM before the game is even released in Europe (it's out on May 23rd in the UK). Worst. Exclusive. Content. Ever.
R0B3RT @ May 16th 2008 3:05PM
1 is missing?
SmokestormX @ May 16th 2008 4:06PM
So Europe's EXCLUSIVE tracks will actually of already been released and many people will have already have access and downloaded them as DLC.. making them not fucking exclusive whatsoever.
What they couldn't wait a month? , a week? , hell even a day .. no lets get these track before we even release it over there.
HazyCloud @ May 16th 2008 2:50PM
4 of the 9 songs ARE NOT in English. How in the hell are the vocals going to work?
R0B3RT @ May 16th 2008 3:04PM
zThat and there are 10 exclusive tracks 1 missing
Timur Tabi @ May 16th 2008 3:22PM
It's going to work great! I speak German. I'm looking forward to these tracks.
AoE @ May 16th 2008 3:30PM
The same way vocals work in English, lyrics scroll across the screen, singer has to match pitch, etc...
My guess is that probably the non-English tracks won't sell as well here, but why deny people who might really dig 'em? There are a lot of languages spoken here beside English.
HazyCloud @ May 16th 2008 3:54PM
I understand how the vocals work in RB, but thanks for the refresher.
I just listened to Heir kommt Alex and that is not going to be easy. My only point is hitting the pitch is easier if you know what you are singing.
sparki @ May 16th 2008 2:52PM
Great Vid choice to post.
@Harmonix,Mure Muse Plz.
madcowdzz @ May 16th 2008 2:58PM
Good, I was hoping the Toten Hosen song would make it to North America.
meledeo @ May 16th 2008 2:59PM
Is it just me or does "New Wave" by Pleymo sound like Limp Bizkit? (That's not necessarily a good thing.)
H-BlockX sounds pretty good.
therpham @ May 16th 2008 3:04PM
He! Hier kommt Alex! Vorhang auf für seine Horrorschau!
I'm going to have a ton of fun yelling German things in an imaginary band, but that's because I love yelling German things anyway. Plus, Hier Kommt Alex is awesome because it's from Ein Kleines Bißchen Horrorschau, which is an entire album based on A Clockwork Orange.
Tony L @ May 16th 2008 3:11PM
Yeah, Muse!
Zoot Suit Jedi @ May 16th 2008 3:26PM
More Muse please!
Bryan T @ May 16th 2008 3:22PM
is the muse Hysteria a cover of Def Leppard's Hysteria?
cranium @ May 16th 2008 4:55PM
no. the video for the song is 6th down in this post. It's an insanely awesome song and women will like you more if you listen to Muse. Also, you will make more money and be more epic.
Muse is unreal
cranium @ May 16th 2008 4:59PM
whoops. It's 6th down on Joystiq's post about this same story. On this post it's the only video shown up top. watch
Etchasketchist @ May 16th 2008 3:23PM
Awesome. Way to go Europeans. I'm happy for them.
Now if we could just find away to get some African Americans in to Rock Band, that'd be awesome.
Chris Littmann @ May 16th 2008 3:34PM
Agreed. I'd love to be able to play The Roots in particular or some Bloc Party or even N.E.R.D.
AoE @ May 16th 2008 3:38PM
Etchasketchist, I agree 100%, though my Jaw would hit the floor if they actually did so. I'd LOVE to see some Jimi Hendrix and Curtis Mayfield tracks at the very least...
Banana Kid @ May 16th 2008 3:29PM
..."as made famous by Blur"?
Oh, FUCK YOU, HARMONIX. That song is recent enough, there's no excuse for this.
AoE @ May 16th 2008 3:34PM
whoa, calm down buddy. when they say "as made famous by..." they mean it's performed by the house band, NOT the original performers. If they called it "Beetlebum - By the Harmonix House Band" would that un-wad your panties?
Banana Kid @ May 16th 2008 3:37PM
I know what it means. I'm pissed that it's a cover version and not the master track.
The song's from 1997. I seriously doubt that the masters don't exist any more. There is no excuse for this.
Zack11190 @ May 16th 2008 3:42PM
It's more than just "whether if they master tracks exist or not". There are a lot of license issues to go through and all that stuff.
And Rock Band needs master tracks for guitar, bass, vocals, and drums. It's possible that they don't have all of those separate.
AoE @ May 16th 2008 3:50PM
What Zack said, also please note that many of the "as made famous by ..." tracks come from EMI, the same label Beetlebum comes from. They were publishing under a small label called Food which got bought out by EMI, and later they went to Virgin (in the early 2000's i think?) so anyhow, from small label to big label to different big label, it's entirely possible that in the past 11 years something got lost.
Frank @ May 16th 2008 3:55PM
The biggest stumbling block is how the drums were recorded.
You will almost always have all of your guitars, bass, and vocals on seperate tracks during the recording process
There are a number of methods recording engineers use to record drums, based on the "feel" they wish to capture of the track. Unless each drum was close mic'd, and the overheads supremly seperate the stereo field of the cymbals it can make it almost impossible to work with. I do sound engineering in my spare time, and I've spent ALOT of time recording drums with a number of different mic techniques. Sometimes just two overheads and a mic on the kick drum because the particulair song works well with that configuration.
Don't hate on em, they do the best they can with what they're given.
Frank @ May 16th 2008 3:48PM
Good looks bringing over Hysteria by Muse, I was afraid they'd only get to enjoy that tune across the pond!
jackdurden @ May 16th 2008 3:58PM
YESSSSS!!!
I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY HYSTERIA AND ROCK N ROLL STAR!!!
Wait....my 360's still not back from being repaired.
FUDGE!!
Shadowman @ May 16th 2008 4:41PM
So America gets it before us again? Oh Harmonix you really do hate Europe. I guess this is in response to the fact everyone in the UK Collectively went "ITS HOW SODDING MUCH!?"
taco @ May 16th 2008 6:38PM
wow. just went through youtube to hear these songs, and man, what an awful bunch of junk. I would have hoped that maybe 1 or 2 would be worth it, but sadly, no.
Drew Carter @ May 16th 2008 10:30PM
I was hoping Harmonix would release some kick ass dlc this week to try and steal the thunder of the competition, but sadly no. We get another batch of horrible songs. Come on Harmonix!
quesadia @ May 16th 2008 11:56PM
can it be bill teim now? wow i cannot believe this faggotry is on rock band it seems my fears of this game are coming true. fall out boy now tokio lead singer trap hotel? dear Lord.
SadisticHam @ May 17th 2008 3:15AM
More reason not to buy RB in Europe.
Boff @ May 19th 2008 6:14AM
Harmonix are really starting to take the piss now.
Firstly, there's a massive delay between the product launching in the US and Europe.
Then there was the pricing debacle.
Now the US gets the Euro 'EXCLUSIVE' tracks before Europe?
Now correct me if I wrong but wouldn't that actually make the tracks US-exclusive for 3 days or whatever?
I'm so glad I gave up on this when the price was announced. Bring on GH4 I say.
inato @ May 19th 2008 10:23AM
I don't understand the people who are complaining about not knowing some of these bands. There seems to be idea amongst some that if it isn't a song released in the US, it isn't any good. I was stationed in Germany for several years and I heard a lot of good songs there that never come to the States. I don't speak German but I've always thought "Perfekte Welle" by Juli was a good pop song. It never got released in the States and I'm glad that I'll be able to pick it up on Rock Band.
Crazed Geek @ May 20th 2008 8:37PM
To people whining about the EXCLUSIVE nature of the songs, I want you to look back in time with me...
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/rock-band-and-the-uk-release-date-is
NOWHERE in there does it mention anything about exclusivity. Not anywhere.
