Castle Crashers is so done, you don't know how done it is

Remember that upcoming XBLA title from The Behemoth called Castle Crashers that everyone and their mother can't wait for? We know you do! According to artist Dan Paladin's on the official Behemoth blog, the anticipated XBLA game is finished. But, before you start marking your calendars keep in mind the game is still far from ready.
"It has to go through all the required hoops of certification/final testing & all that jazz before it will actually become available on the service [XBLA]," wrote Paladin. While Paladin also mentioned the team is excited the game is hitting "the world," he notes it still may be a number of months before we're hacking-and-slashing our way through the world.
Now we play the waiting game... aw, the waiting game sucks. Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos.

So late Summer release? Oh well.
webster1990 @ May 17th 2008 2:47PM
same here, i wonder what the hell happened to that game?
castle crashers still looks like fun though.

I have too many games as it is. Let a month of the summer pass and give me time to beat some of these.

I keep hearing about how great and "anticipated" this game is. Talk about something being overhyped. Unproven franchise. Don't know what all the hubub is over it. I'm thinking it will be average to sub par at best. For those Castle Crasher fans I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see what the big deal about this game is. Know one I know on Xbox Live have heard of it it or even talk about it.

The Genre, "Side scrolling Beat-em-up", is a much loved genre that is under-represented on the XBLA. And, for a reason I still don't understand, compared to shooters and puzzlers, we barely have any, even less if you count the ones with solid online play.
And as TORO points out, it sounds like one of the most complete XBLA titles yet. All the additional modes and characters sound like they're being made for an excellent 16/32 bit era mega-blockbuster, rather than an XBLA release.
Put that alongside the fact that The Behemoth made the much-loved Alien Hominid, and the fact that this follows the same style of humor, as well as an even higher level of animation quality, AND has 4 player online Multiplayer, offering Co-Op and Versus.... and... yeah, I'm sure you get the idea.

Nice Simpsons line, Xav... I use that one all the time. :)
TORO @ May 17th 2008 3:55PM
How could you not be excited for this game!? 4 player sidescrolling co-op, big worlds, weapon upgrades, element powers, comical story, etc.
I think this is one of the most complete XBLA games to date.

I love simple 4-player games.
Me and my friends have put a couple hours into defend your Castle, i can only imagine with this.
EmptyEnergy @ May 18th 2008 12:15PM
This game looks like a solid purchase. The devs seem to be focused on gameplay and co-op rather than just adding psychedelic colors blending it in with the already saturated XBLA market.
Seeing how this thread turned into a 'bash the X3F' staff, any word on Duke Nukem 3d updates?
ZenGaijin @ May 18th 2008 1:42PM
Bring it on Behemoth, I've been waiting for this game for what seems like along time.
I ready for 4-player sidescrolling beat'em up bliss.
Tom @ May 18th 2008 9:29PM
Aw yeah! This game might actually be better than Alien hominid!! (Gasp!)
I just hope that all the unlockable characters add something different, not just different colors of armor. But 4 player online is gonna be AWESOME!!!!!!
Chase @ May 19th 2008 8:08AM
I am so erect right now that, when I turn, I crash my castle into objects around the place.
