Fix your mistake, rewind added to Madden 09

It's an interesting feature add, but we can't help but wonder how much it'll actually be used between multiplayer foes or how annoying it'll end up being.

I can guarantee that nobody who plays competitively will be using this feature. I can see where if you were just playing a friendly game with someone you know you might turn it on just for kicks and giggles, but it seems too gimmicky to be taken seriously.
Josh @ May 20th 2008 2:00AM
lol @ EVERYONE in this thread not reading the actual article where it says very clearly:
"They're not available during online games."
Mr Sauceman @ May 19th 2008 4:04PM
This feature sucks and so will this game - as usual.
Donovan @ May 19th 2008 4:08PM
EA's new sports tagline: "Even if it's not in the game, it's in the game?"
xenocidic @ May 19th 2008 10:17PM
"Mulligans - not just for golfer's anymore."
Bravo6 @ May 19th 2008 4:10PM
no thanks
andyg8180 @ May 19th 2008 4:13PM
will they make you pay extra for this? do i see another boycott coming?
oh... that feature sucks lol... no one does mulligans in foozeball... only in golf...
Jcarpio @ May 19th 2008 4:15PM
@andyg8180
Dang it you beat me to the mulligan term.. =)
Jcarpio @ May 19th 2008 4:13PM
i'm not seeing features that people actually want. Where is "improved tackling mechanics" or "improved animations because All-Pro's were better". Better yet, "realistic amount of turnovers in a game".
There are no mulligans in football, so why allow them in the game?
webster1990 @ May 19th 2008 4:14PM
Great Britain vs China!?!?
Dick @ May 19th 2008 4:52PM
Super Fail
Green Bay and Chicago
webster1990 @ May 19th 2008 5:44PM
be easy on me im english
but i admit, epic fail on my part
Dick @ May 20th 2008 10:53AM
True enough, you get a pass for being a Brit.
Fail withdrawn.
We'll call it an incomplete.
The True Gamer @ May 19th 2008 4:15PM
Now that's just plain stupid.
schwal @ May 19th 2008 4:17PM
At least they aren't charging you to cheat.
Chase @ May 19th 2008 4:20PM
That is a terrible feature to add.
Neuromancer @ May 19th 2008 4:30PM
I guess some bigwig at EA finally got around to playing Sands of Time and was just blown away.
Dick @ May 19th 2008 4:53PM
LOL
+3

Jcarpio @ May 19th 2008 4:32PM
Maybe EA should get that Take2 buyout done sooner.
Then hand over all sports game development to Visual Concepts.
anthonyjh @ May 19th 2008 7:08PM
*sniff* I miss my 2k football.
Shady @ May 19th 2008 4:35PM
Gotta side with Jcarpio on this one, they could improve the main features especially the rediculous amount of turnovers, but why add a feature nobody will use? Well, unfortunatly "It's in the game"
Shawn Lebert @ May 19th 2008 4:55PM
So, in other words, you can now cheat.
Jcarpio @ May 19th 2008 4:58PM
Is it just me or does anyone else think this feature will lead to more fights when played locally?
Shawn Lebert @ May 19th 2008 5:03PM
Yeah, you make the winning touchdown. "What a great come back!" Nope, your friend has a rewind. This is gayer than Bernie from GTAIV.
IncredibleBulk92 @ May 19th 2008 5:23PM
Fix your mistake with Madden? Don't they usually call that a receipt?
ZING!
Gloqwi @ May 19th 2008 5:46PM
I doubt it's going to be used on online multiplayer.
JimyD @ May 19th 2008 6:19PM
Who the hell gave the green light on this feature? So you are playing against a friend and he doesn't like the fact you just lit him up with a 80 yard TD pass, he can now do a "rewind" and play it over! Who in their right mind is ever going to agree to use such a dumb feature before they start a game?
BowserUSC @ May 19th 2008 6:46PM
I wonder if the computer can do it too.
BowserUSC @ May 19th 2008 6:46PM
If EA is no longer interested in making an NFL sponsored football simulation, then let someone else do it. If I wanted to play an arcade game i would play something like blitz, but honestly, I want the only NFL sponsored football game to actually play like real football.
Tungsten Plug @ May 19th 2008 7:12PM
Number 1. Mulligans are already in Tiger Woods, but now they have moved them to Madden which is just Gay!
Number 2. This is a stupid idea. What is its real use? It must be to cheat, so why don't they call this Madden: The Bill Belichick edition. EA only makes good Golf and Hockey Games.
Etchasketchist @ May 19th 2008 8:49PM
I think its best use would be for someone playing single player to try out different plays or passing options. Like a "practice" feature for in-game situations.
Bucfann @ May 19th 2008 7:19PM
This has got to be the dumbest thing Ive ever heard of. I will not be buying Madden this year. I rented it last year. I use to look forward to it, each and every year, but since Madden 04 or 05, EA has ruined Madden. I cant remember which one it was, but 04 or 05 was awesome.
ChewyDogg @ May 19th 2008 7:29PM
So many haters...
It's an optional feature, you don't have to use it. Whats wrong with having the choice?
Josh @ May 20th 2008 1:53AM
Wasted development time on all the features people actually want improved.
Derka @ May 19th 2008 8:02PM
I wish they actually focus on making actual tackle and ball contact physics, instead of this stuff.
When the players magically fly and air tackle someone, its just really stupid. Same as the ball, it turns sideways in mid air to fit in the reciever's hands.
Anyone know of ther game shown awhile back that was supposed to fix this? I can't remember the name of it.
zlionsfan @ May 20th 2008 11:45AM
You might be thinking of All-Pro Football 2K8; if that's the case, yes, things like tackling were supposed to be more realistic, but the game as a whole was perhaps a bit below people's expectations.
Etchasketchist @ May 19th 2008 8:48PM
I understand the knee jerk lols and scorn that this feature is getting, but as I think about it, it sounds like it could be helpful for people to learn the game and try out different strategies and techniques. Just playing single player, it'd be a useful tool. I can imagine trying out different plays on a goal line stand to see what works so I can set my audibles and what not. It's not a big thing, but whatever, it's got its uses.
Tungsten Plug @ May 19th 2008 10:41PM
well then I will enable Mulligans online in Tiger woods. If I don't get a hole in one I will swing until I do....Everyone will be using this shit! that is exactly what it is...SHIT!
Etchasketchist @ May 19th 2008 11:25PM
Er, okay whatever. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be enabled online, or both players have to agree to it. It's an option. My guess is that, in fact, nobody will use it online because its cheap. I was talking about using it in the single player game, where it's y'know, optionally useful or whaterver. No big deal Mr. Maddenpants.
Trent @ May 19th 2008 10:20PM
I like it now i can beat my dad. He usualy beats me 56 -14 in a 5min. quarter game.
Brian Fantana @ May 20th 2008 1:21AM
I really didn't think this game could go any further downhill than it has until I read this. What a terrible feature.
SoulPatch @ May 20th 2008 2:15AM
Everyone has to remember that most people don't play all the time, or play competitively. They only play for fun and games by themselves or with a few friends. This feature will be great for people who are new to the series, or just isn't into it as much as some of you. You can obviously turn it off, so it's not the end of the world. If you don't like, just turn it off. Or is that too hard for some of you?
Larry @ May 20th 2008 10:37AM
That is why they have different difficulty levels or why the spun out the arcadey street series for the casuals. This is just a dumb feature that should have never been put into the game.
Chris @ May 20th 2008 9:35AM
I've been buying Madden every year for the past five years now. I love the series to death.
That being said, this is the dumbest thing that I've ever seen EA Sports do with Madden. I will not be using this feature at all: online or Franchise Mode.
Tungsten Plug @ May 22nd 2008 11:27PM
@ Etchasketchist:
Shut the Fuck up! I fucking hate Madden, but I hate to see the best football game of all time be turned into shit. No one can play any other football game cause EA bought the rights to the players names, so therefor if your gonna play football play it right. That use to mean play madden. Now there is another unrealistic football game out there. I like to see soprts games get more in depth with things such as graphics, plays...etc. Not Cheap ass tools that no one is gonna use anyway.
svenhoek @ Jun 9th 2008 12:00PM
WTF is this? Instead of focusing on the HORRIBLE pass game, the terrible physics, fixing the ridiculous missed balls and the cheating computer, they give us "rewind" This is shit.
WTF, NFL if you care about the dignity of your sport, FUCKING FIRE EA!
