Rumor: Splinter Cell Conviction delayed way back into 2009-2010

According to CVG, the latest issue of Xbox World 360 reports that Ubisoft Montreal has gone "back to the drawing board" in regards to Conviction's development after realizing how outdated its gameplay mechanics really were in comparison to Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed. But for now, the long, long, long delay is just a rumor. Though, with Ubisoft's refusal to comment on said rumor, we can't help but begin to come to the sad realization that our Conviction must wait a few more years. Depressing ...

Hope they change the vs. mode to be more Chaos Theory-ish. I hated the changes they made in Double Agent.

This delay is probably so that they can give Sam a proper hair cut. Man looks like an emo yeti.

Way to go UBISoft First Double agent which looked promising became lackkuster. I actually enjoyed sigle player more than vs this time around.
If we all have to wait please bring back:
1. The old spy vs mercs just more balanced.
2. All my gadgets back for spys and mercs.
3. Use some of the old maps if possible.
4. Get rid of all glitching really makes the game annoyiing.
What made this game so fun was the trying to outwit your opponent not point and shoot.
This is my favorite game to play but its been many years since Chaos Theory. In fact that is what I want Chaos Theory with New Graphics.

Doesn't Ubisoft pay someone (or several people) to oversee the various projects and make sure they are all up to snuff in relation to each other? Or do they not have doors, windows, phones, and computers to communicate with each other?

I was gonna say that this was also another no-show in the spring showcase.

If this is true...then it is a disappointment. I am/was looking forward to this at some point in the mental grasp future.
Maybe though its just a rumor that will turn out false! But that could mean the game isn't up to snuff and that wouldn't be good either.

2009 or 2010 is pretty rediculous! Especially since they have two places (Ubisoft Montreal & Ubisoft Shanghai) to work on it. So while Double Agent was being released Montreal should have been working on Conviction. I hope if they do announce a delay they at least tell us what it's for.

It will only be sad if the delayed product is junk. If the end product is A+, then the wait is worth it.

I just died a bit inside.
Arnob @ May 20th 2008 9:38PM
aww, emo sam will probably get sadder at this news

Assassin's Creed sets the standard? I played the whole thing through and the old Splinter Cell mechanics were far superior to the stealth in AC. Give us a break - we want more Sam - Altair sucked...

Actually I think pandora is the better splintercell in the series, in chaos theory the mercs are to over powered that gay spin move is really stupid all the mercs had to do to not get jumped on is spin and the spies would die automatically, and that thing where you pull someone over the edge worked for like a day then no one would go near the ledges, and they really dont need the thing where if the merc is knocked down hes tazed when he gets up that screwed the game up so bad, im not condoning double jumping but find somthing else, maybe the spies go through the mercs like on double agent, the only thing I liked on that game by the way. other then the slickness of the the spies and how fluid they moved.

Not to cause problems or any thing but I think the frag dolls were hired because of there femal stature, I have played them before and they were not very good like, when I first bought splintercell chaos theory I had it 2 weeks before normal people someone on ebay stole it and sold it to me, not complaining though, any ways having the game so early I was able to play with the developers and magazine editors and the fragdolls when I first met them they seemed cool I had to teach them how to do stuff on chaos theory but I didnt mind, when I did that they wanted to face me in a real game no holding back on skills, I agreed and owned them, they immediatly left my room then i added them to my friend list, later I saw them playing halo 2 so I was like "maybe they will be a decent challenge" after all anyone who games knows how to play halo2 anyways I played them and totally owned them again then they made up excuses like I had lag and things like that, after saying that they left, then the next day I saw them on and my friend wanted to play them, just to say hes played a pro-gamer before then he owned them and they removed me off of there friend list, is this how all pro-gamers act?, its kind of juvenile if you ask me, I mean why does ubisoft even pay them?, they're not that skilled and they are just like all the gamers on halo, if you beat them they make excuses and get mad because they lost.

I got all excited when I heard about this game like a year and a half ago...I'm so sick of waiting. I'm just going to freeze myself until this game comes out.
