BioShock will splash onto the PS3 [update 2]

Update 2: Okay, we admit it ... it's true. BioShock is headed to the PS3.

Update: This rumor is beginning to be more factual then not, with news that next month's EGM will also be revealing the PS3 version of BioShock. And it's reportedly scheduled to release around Christmas '08. Interesting ...

A warning to 360 fanboys who pride themselves on being selfish and protective over their 360 exclusive titles. We have rumor news that will not sit well with you.

CVG is reporting that next month's issue of UK PSM3 promises an in-depth look at (deep breath kids) BioShock for the PS3. ZOMG! Shocker! According to early magazine reports, the PS3 version of BioShock is said to be superior to the currently Xbox 360 exclusive version, packed with all previously released DLC and improved visuals. While you wipe your selfish fanboys tears, take comfort that this news is still firmly planted in the rumor garden and know that even if it does turn out to be true, you being the 360 fanboy that you already experienced the world of Rapture last year. Now, buck up.

LOL...WOW...we get the fact that Haze is a PS3 exclusive thrown in our faces as a "take that" but Metacritic has it pegged at a 56/100!! HA you can keep your shit!

Haze turns out exactly like Lair...LOL a COMPLETE failure.

PS3 owners stopped caring about Haze months ago so i don't know why xbox fanboys are so excited that the game is less than average. You guys talk about Haze more than PS3 fanboys do.

No, XBox "fanboys" talk about it more NOW because all PS3 zombies did for months leading up to the release was tell everyone how it was a Halo killer. Now of course they shut up, since the game is a piece of shit.

Just like they did with Lair, they now go back to weep into their pillow and pray the NEXT big release doesn't disappoint them like almost all of their other big exclusives.

this is actually a reply to kizzle... just because you are on a site called fanboy doesnt mean you have to show how much of a fanboy loser you are.

nobody ever called haze a halo killer, nobody ever even hyped it up all that much. the only hype it got was when it was announced to be an exclusive because that got all the fanboys raging. but nobody actually really cared about it deep down. we all knew it was gonna be just a mediocre game with a possibly interesting gimmick.

oh and about bioshock... not suprising at all, but at the same time who cares... most people that wanted to play it, have already played it. when a game comes out a year later on another system it might as well have stayed an exclusive. when oblivion came out for ps3 it didnt have any hype anymore.

I bought a PS3 late last year for the Blu Ray player. I haven't purchase a single game for it but I did borrow and play Uncharted, Rachet & Clank, and Warhawk. I might be picking up MGS4 and new the Final Fantasy. But so far no exclusives have gotten my moola...

I've been thinking about getting one as well for the Blu-Ray. I've got over 60 HDdvds. I have all the ones I want so my Hi-Def DVD library is lacking some new content. Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming out this month actually. Looks promising although i've read that the online multi-player isn't that great.

The highest rated PS3 exclusives are Rachet and Clank at 89/100 and Uncharted at 88/100.

The highest rated 360 exclusive used to be BioShock...but that's not an exclusive anymore...but other than that you have Halo 3 and Gears of War (console exclusive) at 94/100, Mass Effect at 91/100 and Forza Motorsport 2 at 90/100.

i have no problems with PS3 getting sloppy seconds. I've had my fill with bioshock and it was mediocre gameplay wise with great graphics audio and a lame ending boss.

it could've benefited from more Metroid/Resident Evil puzzles. but it was an interesting single play through.

i really hope they spice some things up for Bioshock 2.

also, is it just me or is playing a FPS game on a PS3 like REALLY uncomfortable?

I don't mind sharing "exclusive" titles. This game was awesome. Haven't really played it since I beat it. So I could really care less is the PS3 gets a copy. Even with the enhanced visuals. Just don't make a Haze game for the 360 PLEASE!!!

Thats fine, Bioshock was a lot more fun to play with max-out video settings and full anti-aliasing on the PC anyways. I'm sure the PS3 port is going to look just as bad as it did on the 360.

What is exclusive these days? I mean really. Not everything stays exclusive. Companies like money. I was kinda hoping it would stay on X360, but its not like a huge major deal to me.

exclusives are the most important thing one platform can have over the other.. as with 99% games being multiplatform this generation, exclusives are what attracts an investment in a console.

Sadly Microsoft dont hold as much value in them than sony and nintendo.. which is why the 360 has hardly any exclusive, certainly no system seller exclusives (bar halo 3..which can be considered "timed"), because Microsoft prefer the small change from the revenue of porting to the pc market. Instead of keeping 360 titles actually exclusive and having the only way people can play the games be by investing in the console. Just as mgs4, killzone 2, resistance 2, uncharted ect will attract people to the ps3 now, and in 3yrs time..as it'll be the only place you can play them.

It'll be interesting to see the countless posts on websites from ps3 owners gloating how they now have it..even though when they thought it was an actualy 360 console exclusive they claimed it to be rubbish.

I can't really understand why this would bother anyone. It's a good game, the PS3 version has been rumored since before the 360 version hit and this is coming several months later (that alone makes the graphics updates almost necessary). Including the DLC isn't a big deal either considering I believe all of that was free.

As far as I'm concerned this is just good news because more people will get to play it. Same as if it came out the same day.

This is a Unreal Engine 3 game - and we all know how great that runs on the PS3. Epic are probably the only people to get it running steadily.

Great game, although I would of preferred they just concentrated on the sequel.

I have a PS3 only and not being able to get Bioshock on it was a HUGE disappointment for me. Knowing that it's a meeter of time before it comes out on my system is very nice. I totally think the PS3 and 360 are both great systems in their own ways, and am sad that we, as gamers, feel the need to argue with each other over such paltry and insignificant things as which system is really better or who gets to play which games first. Can't we ALL just take a step back, pat each other on the backs and say, "Congratulations on getting to play Bioshock!" or, "I can't wait to hear how the GTAIV 360 exclusive DLC is turns out!!"

Well I know every time someone makes the statement that PS3 will have the higher visuals that hasn't been the case, Uh The Orange Box, Turok, Devil May Cry, and I'm sure it will require a nice 5gb Install so PS3 owners can get even fatter making sandwichs for the 1/2 hour the game takes to install to save 5 seconds. Then you will have to contend with BioShock looking really, really dark since the PS3 has a pallet of about 5 colors involving Brown and 4 shades of Black. I sold my PS3 since I was able to play Bioshock a year ago before the PS3 will get it and I would much rather put a game in and play right away vs' installing and sucking up the hard drive for a game system. I'm sorry but it's sad that a great game like BioShock has to lower itself to the level of the PS3 and its whopping 256mb of seperate video and processing ram. I can almost bet you know that it will have frame rate issues and it's funny that a system that is to be known for its HD has problems running anything with a steady frame rate at anything over 720p. I really give up, back to my Elite with the Falcon and BenQ drive and never ever back to a Sony Delaystation. Of course the Sony Fanboys have all said BioShock sucked but now they are loving it until it comes out and looks and runs worse than the 360 so they will again blame it on a conspiracy of lazy developers and not blame Sony for making a unfriendly system to develope for.

Of course the PC version will look better if you max out all the settings because you not really confined to a set of parameters like a console.

Shame Microsoft couldn't keep it an exclusive to Xbox. You know what? I'm willing to bet we will see Mass Effect will one day be on PS3 too, it seems to be a trend with Xbox 360 games right now. I'm not bitter because i would love Bioshock to become more succesful. I would be bitter if they end up getting exclusive content, cause to me that would be a slap in the first to all the fans that supported the game when it first came out.

Anyway, its a shame for Microsoft. Titles like Final Fantasy, although are third party and could come to 360 never will, yet games on 360 seemingly have no problem going multi-platform.
