RBI Baseball to grand slam on XBLA
Most of us have fond memories of the sports games of a simpler time: making little Wayne's head bleed in NHLPA Hockey '93, proving Bo knows almost everything in Tecmo Super Bowl and the hit-n-run ambulance in Madden '92. With so many awesome experiences you'd think someone would bring back sports games to their glory on XBLA. Well, according to a listing on the ESRB website someone is.On Friday, the ESRB website added a listing for RBI Baseball by upstart developers Six Degrees Games. While the new development team does not list the game on their website, their job listing section notes the team is "inventing a new generation of vibrant, mass-market gaming applications for the internet," which lends weight to the game being an Arcade release.
While we're on the subject, here's a free tip to EA. Take the classic Madden and NHL source codes, add new teams and updated rosters, sprinkle in some online play, watch XBLA monies pour in.

Ha, that's pretty cool.
I just wish Xbox LIVE Arcade games go back to their original price of 400 points.
For good games, 800 points is ok, but nothing should be 1,200 or even 1,600.

i agree nothing should even be that high for xbox arcade

So which NHLPA is the head bleeding in?
You said 93 in the post and 94 under the youtube video.
I looked for it a couple years ago and never got a definite answer. I figure someone here has to know.

Well that was an error on my part but its because the scene in the movie is actually wrong.
There is fighting in NHLPA '93, which is the game they are playing, but they removed the fighting in NHL '94 which is the game they're talking about.
Head bleeding is in NHLPA Hockey '93 and NHL '94.

The bleeding was definatly in NHLPA 93, but only on the Sega version I believe.
I had the SNES version and this never ever happened in all my years playing the hell out of that game, I think it was because of Nintendo's squeeky clean image that they removed it. My buddy on the other hand had it on the genesis and this happened frequently.
I could be wrong though.

I'd love to see some classics like NHL Hockey, as long as they keep that awesome Genesis-style synthesized music in tact! Oh and a 400ms price point.

NHLPA Hockey '93 is one of my favorite games of all time.
NukeAssault @ May 25th 2008 4:39PM

that is pretty cool actually. but give me my Mutant League Football!! greatest football of all time!
Grimm @ May 25th 2008 7:08PM
Word to that man...they really should make a current gen version of that. Imagine 3d gore goodness of tackling dudes and cutting them in half and decapitating referees. Aahhh...those would be good times indeed.
Xav de Matos @ May 25th 2008 7:14PM
In an interview with 1UP's Sports Anomaly podcast EA Sports' own Peter Moore said a Mutant League Football remake is likely never going to happen.
Sorry kids!

that is pretty cool actually. but give me my Mutant League Football!! greatest football game of all time!
Bryan T @ May 25th 2008 6:24PM
Why don't we also add Mutant League Football to the list.
Man do I miss those old-school NHL games.
PS - Go wings!

Sweet, I played the hell out of this game way back when. Hopefully this has online play.
marlowned @ May 25th 2008 7:09PM
I love RBI baseball. I remember playing it on the NES way-back-when. You had to select your starting lineup without the player's names... just a blue screen with stats on it.
adam @ May 25th 2008 7:35PM
When sports games were actually good.Give me baseball stars 2 over any of them and then we are talking.
And tecmobowl
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 25th 2008 10:01PM
The sad thing is that RBI Baseball would instantly become the best baseball game on the 360.
sam @ May 26th 2008 5:16PM
Baseball Stars, please!

I kind of just wonder if they're "bringing this back" in any capacity or if it shares the name and nothing else. It's not like Tengen is making millions today.
