First glimpse of the Rock Band Stage Kit
If you recall, this past February a new (and still unannounced) Rock Band peripheral called the Stage Kit was spotted over on Gamestop's website. Back then, we were only given images of what the light and smoke peripheral's box looked like, but it was enough to warrant Stage Kit / WALL•E / police spot light comparisons. Now, Gamestop has since updated their Stage Kit pre-order page with a new picture of the peripherals including what looks to be a 360 controller / strobe light hybrid. Gamestop also pegged the (GASP!) $100 peripheral for an August 15th release, so gather what info you can from that.[Thanks, HazyCloud]

Anyone who actually buys this deserves to have it broken over their head.
Treima @ May 27th 2008 1:24AM
Much agreed. I love Rock Band, and even I wouldn't buy this.
I mean, exactly what is going through the head of someone who forks over $100 for this? "Great! I can be blinded and smoked to death so I can't see the screen, but who cares! It's a STAGE KIT!"
Kevin Gass @ May 26th 2008 5:27PM
Agreed^

If you're using this in "your room" while playing alone, then you're wrong.
However, to further compliment the hilarity of huge Rock Band blowout parties involving lots of people and drinks, then yeah, this would be pretty funny and lots of fun.
Grimm @ May 26th 2008 5:46PM
What..the..fuck..
corporateking @ May 26th 2008 5:47PM

Or trying to see how much Activision is willing to embarass themselves with the "me too" school of rhythm game design. Trust me, if this takes off, it WILL be in Guitar Hero V.
nizzy1115 @ May 26th 2008 5:54PM
Where is the Rock Band Fog Machine?
soccerdude21490 @ May 26th 2008 5:58PM
This is it.. just under a new name...
But yea, does anyone else's gamestop have a "preorder" box for this? Mine has a huge box next to Rock Band that has different details about it on it

Sora267 @ May 26th 2008 6:53PM

Deck @ May 26th 2008 10:33PM
You must be a fortune teller...and my fortune isn't looking so good.
Stink Snake @ May 26th 2008 6:51PM
If video games and strobe lights can cause seizures in some people I wonder what happens when you put them together?
Ryan @ May 26th 2008 6:52PM
Coming this fall, the Guitar Hero: World Tour stage! Measures 8 ft by 10 ft, is 2 ft tall and is made of awesomeness! Only losers rock out on floors! Only $499.99! (not compatible with Rock Band software, peripherals, or fans)

Seriously.
A fog-machine and one light.
Go to any party store and get the same things for (at least) half the price.
Come on Harmonix.

Ian Murray @ May 27th 2008 12:49PM
That's a small price to pay (pun intended).
pkwifi @ May 27th 2008 12:23AM
You can say that one more time :).

I swear I saw this forever ago. I even told a co-worker about it. Weird.
Adam @ May 27th 2008 6:32PM
Its not out yet? Game stop had the box at the store in Tempe... it may have just been a prop box but it looked official. Also, the price sticker on the box was 50 or 60, cant remember which...
JohnHeist @ May 30th 2008 8:56AM
That's a bit pricey for a strobe light and fog machine.
Musician's Friend (where I work) has some strobe lights for as little as $10, and fog machines pretty cheap too.
Fog Liquid can get kind of pricey though.
