Lorne Lanning confirms he's on the new Oddworld
Recently confirmed by the head of Maxis and now effectively double-confirmed, the new Oddworld game will have involvement from the series' original creator. Previously thought to have left the World of Odd for aspirations in CG movie making, Lanning and his studio, Oddworld Inhabitants, are returning to the universe of their namesake with the next-gen Oddworld. While that game will still be under wraps for some time, it's good to know that the original creators are involved, even if they do have their hands full.

So are we talking current-gen? People still keep throwing this next-gen title on the current systems.

Sorry, next-gen in comparison to the last game.

Only ever played the first one but really enjoyed it. The graphics really stood out at the time, not to mention the unique gameplay.

"Ok!"

Yeah the first game was great, I didn't care for the others though. It kind of went too over the top after that.

I don't quite get the Maxis / Oddworld Inhabitants relation. I thought one of the reasons Lanning decided to switch focus away from video game development was because of EA's poor marketing of Stranger's Wrath (among other reasons)? Seems Odd that they would team up with an EA again, unless I'm looking at it completely wrong.
Whatever the case, I've been hoping for a new Oddworld for a long time. Maybe in time they could even resurrect The Brutal Ballad Of Fangus Klot and Hand of Odd!

By all accounts, the EA of today is a different beast. It's possible he was talked around by newer management folks.
