XBLA Wednesday: Buku Sudoku and Warlords

Available for purchase off the XBLA for 800 Microsoft points is Merscom's Buku Sudoku, a puzzle word game featuring over 1,200 puzzles, online multiplayer, co-op and well ... lots of Sudoku puzzles. Over fifteen Sudoku books of puzzles ... or so we're told. The other half of this week's XBLA twofer is Stainless Games' 400 MS point Warlords, a remake of the classic Warlords but in prettified HD and four player Xbox Live support. Though, if you want to be all old-school, they've generously added a pixel-perfect remake of the classic. Browse the screenshots below and ponder an XBLA purchase.

I'm sure Warlords will be delisted in 6 months. Still, it's an old favorite of mine, so I'm likely to buy it. I hope the controls work well, because so far knob and trackball based games have not gone over so well on the service.

Most people remember Warlords from the Atari 2600, not the coin-op. I also can't see how you can play this without a paddle control - though Airburst plays well because the fortresses move around the screen.
Buku Sudoku has been on Windows for 2 years - it's a good adaptation of the game, so for those of you who just want to relax and do Sudoku, it's not a bad game. (Plus, it's $20 on PC, so this is half-price.)

PS. You forgot to mention that Buku Sudoku has different types of boards (ie. 4x4, etc.) and will have downloadable content (probably new skins.)

Hi, I'm with the publisher of Sudoku and the XBLA version is totally different than the PC game. We've added different types of multi-player, multiple control schemes, and most importantly, you can win a 40" 1080 Samsung HDTV by getting all 200 achievement points (http://bukusudoku360.com/?page_id=46)

What?
Could this be? Is this really true?
A 400 point Arcade game?
Jonah Falcon @ May 27th 2008 2:16PM
It's an arcade port. Arcade ports are always 400 MSP.

Why would you pay for sudoku when you can just go to http://websudoku.com/ and play for free. I guess I could see buying a DS sudoku game since you can take that with you on the bus, but if you are at home don't pay for sudoku.

Again, I'm biased but with Buku you get multi-player (co-op play, team battle and entirely new concept – an active duel where the player’s performance directly impacts his opponent’s puzzle) and the ability to use a range of controllers (big button pad, DVD, DDR mat, etc).
Oh, and did I forget to mention you can win a 40" 1080 Samsung TV by getting 200 out of 200 achievement points.
That's why you would spend $10 rather than play the free stuff.

Warlords.. Sweet.. I just found this cocktail arcade system and am almost done restoring it.. I will for sure grab this one up..
As far as how it would play with out a paddle.. It could be adapted to the analog, no prob..
