Community Content: Docking Station Edition

Each week, X3F showcases the best in Halo 3 downloads with Community Content. To find out how to set up your Bungie.net account, click here. Submit your own ideas at: comcon [AT] xbox360fanboy [DOT] com

This week on Community Content we bring you a giant space ship in the sky! Again. While it might sound like the same thing, it's considerably different. In OberionTheGreat an attacking crew begins with normal weapons and a few extra vehicles and must infiltrate the docked ship in order to capture their flag and score one for the people of the planet.

Add to this a barrage of fusion cores (which I kept calling coils in the video, cuz I'm awesome) and a few hidden surprises and this one could turn out to be another icy trip into a space siege. Check it out and make sure to email your suggestions to COMCON [at] xbox360fanboy [dot] com.

Map: Avalanche (Legendary Map Pack Required)
Gametypes: Single-Flag CTF, Assault, Team Slayer

Players: 8-16

Details from the Creator (AceParty)
OberionTheGreat is a Forerunner ship with an engineering room. The ship bombards the map with fusion cores, the defenders start with a single Warthog, Scorpion tank and and a few other vehicles. I hope you will like it, it took 8 hours to make with the help of a friend. After testing it, we think it's really fun. We always wanted a map that felt original without a heavy exaggeration of weapons and vehicles.

X3F Says
If both sides take time to learn how the map is designed you will find it can be very rewarding. Like any map that adds a brand new element, it will take some getting used to but will be an enjoyable experience overall. We think this map works best with CTF, but some light tweaking could make this one of the better Assault maps. Imagine starting on land, infiltrating an area of the map to get the bomb and then having to break into the ship to plant it. Right now there is an element like this designed into the pre-existing map, but some tweaking might be needed for balance issues as the two teleportation entrances can be griefed-to-death and make any bombruns impossible/annoying to attempt.
