We've finally gotten our act together and are bringing you this very Friday edition of
Video Marketplace Weekly to get you in the mood for a weekend full of lazy XBVM movie rentals. Usually we talk a quick and dirty recap about what new movies became available this past week, but this time there really is no need. There isn't a need because one movie rental is all you should care about.
There Will Be Blood. This film is a masterpiece, a
Daniel Day Lewis epic and true actor's acting movie that will knock you down only to stand you back up and knock you over once again.
There Will Be Blood is a must see. And know that you're getting your downloading money's worth too, because the HD version clocks in at a ginormous 7.2GB in file size, where every MB is worth the wait. Go. Rent. Now.

this movie sucks, I dont know what the guy who wrote this is thinking, really really sucks, boring long , if you like a guy who has anger problems and lives in dirt then its for you.
bigmac375 @ May 30th 2008 6:11PM
it is actually an epic tale that follows a much appreciated non-mainstream storyline and has music so tense and foreboding, it will leave you wet and heaving.
Etchasketchist @ May 30th 2008 6:21PM
Paulie, though his critique is shallow and dismissive, happens to be accidentally correct on this one. P.T. Anderson is America's greatest living hack fraud director. Of all the directors in his generation, his ability to pass off cliche and banality as originality and depth is unsurpassed. Sophia Coppola and Wes Anderson are a distant second and third.

What are you talking about? Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and There Will be Blood are FANTASTIC movies! Also on the Wes Anderson issue, Rushmore, The Royal Tennenbaums, and Life Aquatic, are modern masterpieces. Etchasketch, your movie tastes a very far removed from mine...I'd hate to see your DVD collection.

Dont listen to Paulie, this is the best movie of last year. (No Country for Old Men is a close 2nd) Dont expect a ton of action, but the story and acting are incredible!
erivera3 @ May 31st 2008 10:24AM
I thought No Country for Old Men was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen in my life. If you can change my opinion by explaining why this should even pass for a movie please try and do so.
Tegolin @ May 30th 2008 7:16PM
Does it come with DLC of the last 10 minutes?
ryanp @ May 30th 2008 7:54PM
Hack fraud director??
What in God's name are you talking about, Etchasketchist?
Etchasketchist @ May 30th 2008 8:34PM
He desperately wishes he were Robert Altman but has none of Altman's humanism. He is great at casting, editing and production design. Terrible at writing, directing actors and steals tons of shots from other movies. None of his movies matter. They're all well made pieces of nothing.
ryanp @ May 30th 2008 8:58PM
While I disagree with the point, I don't think 'wishing you were Robert Altman' is a bad thing for any director to be striving for. He was certainly a "student" of Altman and was even the fill-in director on Prairie Home Companion in case Altman's health failed during shooting. I think each of PT Anderson's films are quite different from each other and that he's trying new and interesting things with each outing. Magnolia is amazing, as is Boogie Nights, as is There Will Be Blood. There are few directors (especially American directors) doing the types of projects that he picks. But I respect your opinion...
Either way, more people should seriously check this movie out. And the kids like Radiohead, right? Johnny Greenwood did the soundtrack...it's pretty amazing...

I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!!
such a great movie.
Dirtgoblin @ May 31st 2008 12:52AM
"There Will Be Blood" was hands down the best movie of 2007, the acting by Daniel Day Lewis is just plain amazing. Besides that point the whole epic story is a complete work of art. This isn't really my "kind" of movie, but I have to say that I enjoyed every moment of it and knew as soon as it was over that there has not been a movie this good for a couple of years.
Dirtgoblin @ May 31st 2008 12:54AM
And yes, @kp
I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE !!!
