First footage of Duke Nukem Forever

The very first episode of The Jace Hall Show is now live, and it includes the impossible: footage of Duke Nukem Forever. The segment with 3D Realms begins at 2:33, and we can honestly say that we appreciate host Jace Hall for asking the team "What the f*uck is taking so long?" The real fun, however, begins at 4:18, when we actually get a tiny glimpse of the game in action. Fans of Duke Nukem 3D will notice plenty of things from the original game, including some of the classic weapons. Specifically, there is footage of the shrink ray including the ever important moment when Duke crushes his recently debigulated foe. Hall concludes by saying, "I saw it. They have been working. It's not a myth. You're going to be pleased."

Let's hope so.

i have to disagree i think the gameplay looks remarkably average and standard run and gun fare. To be frank on that (limited) showing, it looks nowhere near as good as est. FPS games such as Crysis, CoD4, HL2, bioshock etc. Admittedly its only a glimpse but i see nothing to write home about

Yeah, I don't know but from the little bit we saw in the video it looks very generic.....and other than Duke's voice there was nothing special here.

Still the video was really short so who knows the game might actually be cool, but as of right now its a BIG meh for me.

Crysis, beyond it's pretty trees, is awful mate. It's certainly not an established FPS either.

i dunno, i think any FPS can have crit levelled against it, Bioshock is largely linear, CoD is very linear, Doom 4 too dark etc etc. I think you have to judge each FPS on its merits and i think as a whole Crysis was an excellent game and introduced not only a great engine, but also good AI, story, and as a package was very good. COD4 was an excellent game, bioshock too. True in DN4E weve only seen a glimpse, whilst i hope it will be 'genre-defining' i cant help thinking when and IF it gets released its going to be another Daiktana (or however you spell that crap)

BTW - i played Bad company demo last night on XBLM - WOW - excellent game - NOW RELEASE FOR PC !!! :)

Yeah, it definitely looks like Prey 2. 3D Realms better pull out all of the stops in making it funny and politically incorrect, otherwise it will be a big flop.

If you follow the development cycle of this game you will see they changed engines once or twice, so they had to do a lot of rebuilding. I kinda feel bad for them as I cant fathom how much money has been poured into this game's development.

It looks very similar to Prey, but as long as its fun to play who really cares? I'm just curious if its as "mature" as DN3D.

For those looking back at DN3D with rose-tinted glasses: there was very little that game did that other first-person shooters didn't do before. The overall charm came from the game's attitude and humor, and not from any revolutionary engine enhancements. With that being said, what little of the game was shown in the video aboe definitely doesn't look bad. As long as this latest romp manages to capture everything that made DN3D great, it'll be an enjoyable ride no matter what it LOOKS like.

im definitly not excited about this game anymore... to little to late, i doubt that these guys can create a game that has a great story and great gun play. this game has to be held to a higher standard since these fools have been spending more then 10 years making it. if they release anything short of a groundbreaking genre redefining game then, well somebody should just punch them in the face. really hard. no, make that really, really hard !!
