Bach denies Blu-ray Xbox 360 yet again
9:00AM pacific has come and gone and guess what kids? We still do not have a Blu-ray equipped Xbox 360 to announce, because it isn't real. So, that CrunchGear rumor was a total bust, who would have guessed? But we really didn't have to wait until this morning to be disappointed, because Microsoft's own Robbie Bach already dispelled (for the 39th time) any Blu-ray / Xbox 360 integration yesterday during an interview with SFGate. Again, Bach pretty much reiterated the fact that the Blu-ray format isn't something Microsoft is interested in adding to the 360 and doesn't think consumers really see value in it. Oh, and if you were excited about a Zune Phone (and really, who isn't?) don't hold your breath. Bach squashed that rumor too.[Via Engadget]

Before I get spammed for my error, I know it was from Clerks. My bad.

No one can upstage Jobs today.
3G iPhone... everybody wants.
Blu-ray 360... looking for a market.

What is the obsession with Blu-ray in the 360? They aren't using it for games, and they don't need to. Did switching discs on LO bother anyone?
The only time I've used my PS3 in the last 6 months was for Blu-ray movies. A whole two of them, and it wasn't worth it. Aside from the movies I collect, I'm refusing to buy Blu-ray until it's forced at this point.

Sounds like me, all it's really good for to me. I'm really disappointed about the Zune phone, I was dreaming for it.

Well I guess all I have to say is playstation here I come. I already have the 360 HD DVD add-on. I just want to get away from dvds and start fresh with a High Def format and I guess it won't be hd dvd any time soon

So his statement was along the lines of...
"We have no plans to improve any of our products, at all. We see no market for a Zune Phone because people love to carry two separate devices, and to be honest, we've never heard of Blu-Ray."

i was really hoping the rumor was true this time. my day is now ruined. i don't care for the zune phone, and much less for the 3G iPhone. what's so hard to release a blu-ray add-on like they did for hd dvd? it will be the cheapest player for those of us who don't want to pay >= $399. I want one for no less more than $199.

MS is saving blu-ray for the next xbox. It will give us a reason to upgrade sooner.

Bluray is a joke people are stupid get a decent upscale player over hdmi im telling you set your tv settings up right and you wont see a major difference.Bluray is umd and betamax its nopt going anywhere anytime soon. The only reason dvd took off like it did is because of the possibility it offered.People can download dvds and copy them they cant with bluray and it would take forever to download 25gb of data to burn and also dvd is cheaper.
The only reason people really jumped from vhs to dvd
Easy to aquire a burner for easy to copy movies download them vhs was bad because you were limited to what you could record either copy tapes that were already bought or what was on tv now you can just pirate movies online.
bluray is a niche market and will die like laser disc.
john paul @ Jun 9th 2008 3:51PM
I'm not caring for them until they reach a cheaper price point. For now I'm renting, its not like I'm going to watch each movie like 15 times.
X @ Jun 9th 2008 4:52PM
Bluray is never going to take off. It's just a format in between a major format change.
