Capcom utilizes eBay to decide on which classic games to bring back

Those guys over at Capcom are trailblazers. Not only have they set some sort of record for the amount of Xbox Live Arcade releases, but they also have pioneered the art of researching the profitability of said XBLA titles using ... eBay? That's right, Capcom's own Associate Product Manager John Diamonon admitted to the MTV Multiplayer that one of their tools for researching which classic titles to bring back is eBay, searching to gauge what the demand for older copies of the originals are at. "Sometimes we see games on eBay, and that's how you see what games people are willing to spend $80 on" says Diamonon, "we look there to assess the market value of a game."

It's an interesting yet mildly effective way to do game research, but we can't help but feel bad for poor Yahoo! Auctions and any developer who used their site to do video game research. RIP Yahoo! Auctions, RIP ...
