ZOMG! Online survey hints at Blu-ray Xbox 360

Take a look at the screenshot above that was taken from a recent MyPoints.com survey that has been making the internet rounds. The survey question simply asks which of the listed products the survey taker currently owns. Simple enough, but do you notice anything that just doesn't look right? No, we aren't talking about the Vornado Vacuum Cleaner (though it does sound suspicious), look one line below that. For whatever reason, this MyPoints.com survey lists an Xbox 360 with Blu Ray Disc Player as a survey option. An odd survey choice seeing that a Blu-ray Xbox 360 doesn't eveb exist. Does MyPoints.com know something we don't or did they just make a mistake? An even more import question to ask is whether these Blu-ray 360 rumors will ever come to an end.
[Thanks, Malik]

They're just fucked up, probably someone who has no idea about video games made the list and got confused.

I Agree.

Yea, it's an eff up.

Actually I bet they updated their data base when HD-DVD ended.. And had a script run that replaced any mention of HD-DVD w/ BluRay..
numbn8 @ Jun 13th 2008 11:22AM
Thats part of the qualification questions. If you don't check right item you don't allways qualify to take the survey. They ofter put fake items to weed out the people that click everything to qualify for surveys they shouldn't.
Neuromancer @ Jun 13th 2008 11:27AM
Ah could be that too.
Either way Dustin I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Mtr @ Jun 13th 2008 4:23PM

StLouisRibs7734 @ Jun 13th 2008 11:35AM
Maybe they meant PS3 with blu-ray... but maybe... PS3 w/o Blu-Ray?
DjDATZ @ Jun 13th 2008 11:46AM

LOL...what's up bud?
snipr14 @ Jun 13th 2008 11:53AM
it says xbox 360 WITH Blu-Ray Player. I think that its asking if you have an xbox 360+Blu-Ray player? If it was this, it would have made more sense to put and but i think thats what it is.

I do surveys all the time. Sometimes I'm given descriptions of real items that show up on the market, sometimes it's batteries that get recharged wirelessly that I'm still waiting for...
Phour ZwanZig @ Jun 14th 2008 1:17AM
Thing is though, if you do the research, you can find the info about that.. Wireless charging is and has been in development for a few years.. Ive always dreamt of that and when they get it down and after many revisions it will be great..

Microsoft whould put a poll up on Live asking if people want: a Blu-ray addon, Built-in Drive, Both or None.
That would make the most sense to see if there is a large enough market for it.
I'd want a external Blu-ray add-on drive - just makes the most sense.
Adam @ Jun 13th 2008 12:35PM
xbox isnt seeing bluray so forget it
Neuromancer @ Jun 13th 2008 1:39PM
I don't know, Balmer the Embalmer says Microsoft is looking into Blu Ray at least in terms of Windows support. It is possible someday the 360 may follow suit.

hplcman @ Jun 13th 2008 1:03PM
They probably meant to write "PS3 with a Blu-Ray Player". 'Cause that's what a PS3 comes with.
J-Fizzle @ Jun 13th 2008 1:07PM
I've had a 360 with Blu Ray since PS3 came out.
epobirs @ Jun 13th 2008 2:16PM
Considering that the survey is damaged by asking a question that cannot possibly be answered in the affirmative, this has to be a mistake.
This is akin to being asked if you are currently dead. If true, how could you answer?
Davis @ Jun 13th 2008 2:59PM
I know a thing or two about surveys. They want to make sure the survey takers are paying attention so they sometimes give an answer that can't possibly be. Once the survey taker chooses that answer then "I'm sorry but you are not qualified to take this survey" will pop up. I used to take these surveys all the time at wrinsider cuz they gave out free giftcards and stuff.
007craft @ Jun 13th 2008 5:59PM
What if you died at your computer desk and landed on your mouse button, hitting the "yes" im currently dead box? That would make it a truthful answer
SytheMaster @ Jun 13th 2008 6:20PM
LOL!
Chris the marketer @ Jun 15th 2008 11:01AM
yeah, as someone who has used these guys to do consumer research, I'm betting the question was Xbox 360 OR Blu Ray player (or XBox 360 or PS3 with blue ray player)
I mean, why field a survey about people owning something that doesn't exist. If they were hiding something, the survey would of let you rank Xbox 360 features including blu ray
JCA @ Jul 7th 2008 3:31PM
I know this is an old topic and no one will read this but I guarantee the 360 will have a Blu Ray player. I don't get the feeling that MS thinks "hey we have much better game exclusivity than the PS3."
What I'm implying is that MS will do whatever they can to level the playing field between the 2 consoles and not just rely on software. Releasing ONLY a Blu-Ray add on drive isn't enough. They have to release an integrated Blu Ray drive so that the 360 is equal or very close to PS3 in terms of cost/benefit.
