Rumor: Possible COD5 box arts [update]

The rumors just keep coming readers! This next one is from the same source as all the rest, and has to do with the next installment in the Call Of Duty series. Just like the fourth installments various box arts, it seems that the fifth installment will have many different box arts before any single one is chosen to represent the game.
Also, as you may have noticed, none of the box arts have the number "5" on them anywhere. Instead, the game seems to have solely adopted the recently announced subtitle of World at War.

It's odd that you guys had this survey this morning and yet are only posting this once we all at Neogaf played detectives and I commented here. It's nice to cite your sources, even if you had them already, because you obviously didn't realize what you actually had. I brought Forza 3 being 2 discs to your attention in the comments, and no thank you.
::sighs:: Oh well.
Terrence Stasse @ Jun 15th 2008 5:21PM
Same as I posted in the other thread:
I've been a member on GAF for years, thanks.
We'll be getting everything up over the course of the day.
Mighty Healthy @ Jun 15th 2008 5:21PM
I think that at this point, it goes without saying that these rumors are looking very legit. Sorry Jeff.
As for the ploy of avoiding the already present stigma Call of Duty 5 has, you're absolutely on point.
ubermod @ Jun 15th 2008 5:31PM
Perhaps not calling it COD5 is a sop to Infinity Ward allowing them to produce the "proper" sequel and Treyarch to be handed the "update".
HE4VENSENT @ Jun 15th 2008 5:48PM
agreed.
Magic Whiskey @ Jun 15th 2008 7:57PM
Yes, that's what IGN seems to think as well. COD5 is saved for IW and next time.
modelvillage @ Jun 15th 2008 5:38PM
This is just another "big red one" or to put it another way something we have seen before.
JohnHeist @ Jun 15th 2008 5:51PM
I like the top right one, but now we have confirmation that it's WWII again it seems, judging by the uniforms and guns.
Lame.
Brian Fantana @ Jun 16th 2008 1:09AM
Top left is ,by far, the best.
But I'm all for another good, good being the key word, WWII game. To me, "modern" war games are a little boring. If I want to see "modern" war, I'll go to Youtube or CNN and watch it. WWII is THE war of all wars. And is more interesting in my opinion.
Brian Fantana @ Jun 16th 2008 1:10AM
Shit, sorry, I meant top left was the best. I was agreeing with you on that one.
Brian Fantana @ Jun 16th 2008 1:12AM
I give up. It's too late. Top right, top right. Fuck, this is embarrassing. Goodnight.
NoTomorrow @ Jun 15th 2008 5:53PM
It's supposed to be set in the Pacific theater, which would be a slight change in pace. I like the box art with the helmets on the rifles.
Dwag @ Jun 15th 2008 6:03PM
Wasn't it already known that this wasn't gonna be a True sequel to COD4 I mean Infinity Ward seems to be smart enough to know that going back in time was outdated and boring and that the presnt day is where all the action is at.
I hope this has 32 multiplayer online cause I'm getting sick of the usually not going above 20.
webster1990 @ Jun 15th 2008 6:12PM
i thought it was public knowledge that this one is called Call of Duty: World at War. It's been in magazines and mentioned on a few websites, i thought it had been mentioned here also
Ninzono @ Jun 15th 2008 6:48PM
You are correct, this is where i heard about it last week i think.
WTF are you guys on.....fair point the box art stuff is new.
P.S. I go with the helmet one (the 3rd preview at the top)
Vcize @ Jun 15th 2008 7:41PM
Top right (helmets on rifles) definitely wins.
sjs2626 @ Jun 15th 2008 8:02PM
that one reminds me slightly of Resistance: FoM, and Ninja Gaiden II, because of the rifles in the ground.
Templar @ Jun 15th 2008 8:07PM
I concur.
NoTomorrow @ Jun 15th 2008 8:59PM
Thank you. (for agreeing with my above post)
I think that one is definitely the best too.
Mr Cool @ Jun 16th 2008 8:20AM
I agree with the upper right box art. Truly dramatic.
Cian @ Jun 15th 2008 7:52PM
I'm really digging the one with the guns stuck in the ground with the helmets on top.
emirabal @ Jun 15th 2008 9:13PM
i like the third one
CDN Crockett @ Jun 16th 2008 8:37AM
Upper right or Lower Right
m0rb1d @ Jun 16th 2008 9:10AM
The 3rd cover on the top row right is the best cover. Even though this game is most likely going to suck, the least they can do is make the cover look pretty! The rest just look like magazine covers.
DjDATZ @ Jun 16th 2008 9:43AM
Riiiight. Cuz no1's gonna buy this game anyways...
m0rb1d @ Jun 16th 2008 11:37AM
I'm sure tons of idiots will buy this game. COD4 was one of the greatest FPS's I've ever played, but now that TreyArch is doing this one and taking it back to WWII, the game will suck! Seriously... if you really think this game will be better than COD4, your out of your mind dude.
DjDATZ @ Jun 16th 2008 12:05PM
COD4 was amazing. COD WOW is going to BLOW. Why? Because Treyarch is doing the development on it, AND it's going BACK to WWII... Haven't they realized that WWII has been whored enough already?
Professor Lario @ Jun 16th 2008 10:53AM
Third one - top right. : )
bugatti23007 @ Jun 16th 2008 10:55AM
I like the third cover its very unique & different from all war games.
dogmatheque @ Jun 17th 2008 3:42AM
It really looks like our casual war shooter package.
i guess the most interesting is the top right tho, but i assume marketing guy would say that you don't see the action and that it's too macabre.
The title placement is best on top, and the top center cover gives a positive attitude, you see leadership and numerous players at the same time.
The surroundings clearly appear different from other COD series and the slightly greenish cover emphasises that effect making you think about the jungle (thus suggesting a different atmosphere than usual). On the other hand, the sand grey/ocre makes you think too much about the desert, which might not be the point.
The two covers with the title in the middle, give less impact to action and the bottom right... well it has the taste of defeat.
Brain winner, top center.
