Guitar Hero: World Tour information blowout!

Seeing that we can't talk about all the World Tour details (if we did, this blog could be considered a feature article) we'll touch on the highlights. First and foremost IGN posted pictures and details about every instrument including confirmation that the World Tour guitar will feature the rumored touch pad. We also learn that World Tour takes customization to the next level, adding the ability to create your own band member AND customize your instruments as you see fit. We also learn about specifics regarding the game's recording functionality (sorry, no vocal recordings) and the fact that the career mode will modeled after Rock Band's progression. There's just too much info ... go read ... get learned and be surprised. Surprised that Activision may have actually come through with World Tour, pushing the genre to a whole new level.

Yawn, too many plastic instruments at my house already.
Lewis (GT: StoneRevolver) @ Jun 20th 2008 1:18PM
+1.
I Agree.
Including too many real ones as well.

How many people sent a tip for this in?
Bryan T @ Jun 20th 2008 1:33PM
While reading, I came across this:
World Tour features a new beginner difficulty that is even easier than easy.
Please Neversoft make it so that if I play through on Expert, I get the achievements for easy medium and hard.
Vcize @ Jun 20th 2008 2:26PM
Amen.
Paul @ Jun 20th 2008 1:42PM
good: gh3 instruments will work with with world tour....
bad: gh3 dlc will NOT work with world tour....
Paul @ Jun 20th 2008 1:42PM
wow a little too many with's in there.....sorry about that
Jolard @ Jun 20th 2008 1:51PM
I will buy this in a heartbeat if I can buy the game and play it with my current Rock Band controllers. HOWEVER, as I am absolutely sure it will not work that way, I bet I won't be buying it at all. I refuse to have two sets of instruments in my living room, (not to mention the cost) and I won't be giving up my DLC from Rock Band.
Viva La Champ @ Jun 20th 2008 1:54PM
God what a rockband rip off.
Ok let's see what they got from rock band here...
Drums-Check
Microphone-Check
Customizable character-Check
It's like the played rockband and realized "hey this is a great idea. let's use it"
I'm sure the people that made rock band aren't to happy with thisXP I already have the rock band set, and I don't plan on spending over $100 for another. Especially on a game that rips from another. The one thing I do like that they added would be the song creator, but that's it...I'm sure when Rockband 2 comes out they'll have a similar "song creator" feature...Come on guys let's come up with ideas on our own:/
Lewis (GT: StoneRevolver) @ Jun 20th 2008 2:08PM
What else are they gonna do? Let a good chance not sell a game go by? Shit, If your previous game sucked compared to Rock band, I'm sure as hell you do ANYTHING to make it better. The steps they took in World Tour is an obvious step forward. But Harmonix has the upper hand, considering RB2 comes out after World Tour.
And since they have MTV on their side (MTV = $$$)

w/e dude
i own rock band and guitar hero 3
i do believe i actually fall asleep while playing most of the songs in rock band.
they get so repetative..
im happy to see this game being released, i don't actually give a f*** that non of the rock band instruments work with it because i thought they all sucked in different ways, except the mic.
guitar hero's are made by a company that actually make very very good plastic ones.
also this game is really taking it to the next level with all the features of everything (except microphone). and will probably be much more worth it.
plus world tour has everlong.
just that fact alone is making me get it.
Brandon @ Aug 18th 2008 12:28PM
if you knew anything you would know that Neversoft has actually been doing character creators for several years. Ever play a Tony Hawk game? "Create-a-Skater"? Sounds familiar right? To add to that, the developers of Guitar Hero were thinking about adding drums to the game somehow before Guitar Hero 3 even came out. So why don't you do your research before you start talking about topics you have no idea about.
Vcize @ Jun 20th 2008 2:08PM
I really wasn't very excited over this game, and was fine with what we have already in terms of rhythm games to last me a while. But I'll be damned if that preview didn't get me excited. It looks like it's going to be awesome.
Delirium @ Jun 20th 2008 2:12PM
I'll probably only pick up the guitar (provided they don't force me to buy the bundle. Seeing as this is GUITAR HERO they better not). Also, if this is more like Rock Band they better not have made it suck. Guitar Hero is awesome because it implements several instruments along with he guitar. Anyone who's played career for RB Guitar knows it isn't as fun...
Vcize @ Jun 20th 2008 2:28PM
Indeed, I'm more interested in the guitar than anything else so I just hope they don't sacrifice the guitar play for the other stuff like RB did.
Matthew @ Jun 20th 2008 2:48PM
Those last two sentences make no sense.....
Vcize @ Jun 20th 2008 5:08PM
Matthew,
I think what he's saying is that since GH only has the guitar, it lets you play more of the music you hear in the song even if that sound isn't *actually* made by a guitar in real life, whereas in Rock Band if all you're playing is the guitar you end up just sitting there picking your nose for long stretches with an empty note chart while your imaginary bandmate bangs on the drums or base guitar.
linuxinfector @ Jun 20th 2008 2:38PM
I think everyone complains about world tour cuz they know how awesome it is, but they're stuck with their lame rock band, Ill deff get this
James @ Jun 20th 2008 3:11PM
Oh lord. Trolls are showing up on X3F now.
Amos @ Jun 20th 2008 4:09PM
well as someone who owns all the guitar hero series minus that crappy aerosmith stuff but who likes aerosmith anyways and rock band. I can say I am very excited rock bands attempt at a full featured music game was half assed at best just because they have lots of dlc does not make them the best look at the drums how many people have broken drum kits??? Broken guitars? Hell my rockband Guitar came broken but all of my guitar hero stuff still works like new. Guitar hero will just do it better in my opinion and after it launches youll see that my opinion and the masses are pretty much the same on this one RIP Rockband
Chase @ Jun 20th 2008 6:38PM
If I can't use my Rock Band instruments, or even the neat wireless Guitar Hero 3 guitar, I won't be getting this game. I won't buy another plastic musical instrument.
john paul @ Jun 20th 2008 6:41PM
Am i the only person who thinks GH:World Tour actually impressed?
tan @ Jun 21st 2008 5:08AM
nah i think its awesome.
webster1990 @ Jun 20th 2008 8:31PM
i might buy the guiatar, it looks pretty bitchin.
Plus the strum on the RB guitar is a bit...well...mushy, lol. I wonder if the touch pad buttons will work in the same way the buttons on the lower part of the RB guitar if you use it for RB, that's if it is even compatible with RB :/
jaychuck @ Jun 20th 2008 10:15PM
Also, according to this article, Michael Jackson's "Beat it" will be in this game. HOLY SHIIIIIIT!!!!!
precasthambone @ Jun 24th 2008 5:02AM
i am sick and tired of people saying gh4 is a rip off of rock band. newsflash...rock band is not an innovation whatsoever, all that was done was three games were made into one. karaoke revolution, guitar hero, and mtv drumscape. you people make me sick, i WILL be purchasing this game however, because gh is nothing but awesome
precasthambone @ Jun 24th 2008 5:04AM
it looks cool
