MK VS DCU: Flash, Power Girl, tie-in komic & more

Well it's been a strange project from day one, and while we were hoping that MK VS DCU wouldn't be market-tested and exploited to death, it looks like that simply won't be helped. A recent issue of the UK-based magazine X360 seems to confirm that the Flash, Robin (really?), Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Black Canary, Hawkman & Powergirl will all make appearances in the game. Also, the article does mention a possible two game deal, as well as DLC for the first game, hinting that they'd like you to buy even more content for this nuttiness.
Additionally, and perhaps not so surprisingly in retrospect, there was the news that the game will have a tie-in comic to go along with it. Apparently the storyline for it has been completed and contains some sort of gigantic, life changing twist. Comic fans we may be, but color us underwhelmed.

Every decent fighter has their version of Ken & Ryu
I'm guessing its gonna be Batman & Robin here.
hopefully with a Nightwing skin.

*cough* SELL OUT!! *cough* This game is going to seriously blow. Can you imagine Robin beating up Scorpion? T-Rating+out of place (and quite lame looking) characters+lame trailer=....suck

I don't why people are hating, to me this game looks awesome. We don't have enough current gen fighters yet and this one looks like it will be good. People need to be more open minded.

Because a lot of us have been MK fans from the beginning and this is just not MK anymore. No fatalities, dc comics? Epic Fail for the series.

@ psychohog
Well the lack of fatalities and a T rating does suck, this game still looks like it will be a lot of fun. Personally. I can't wait to kick the shit out of Superman (I've always always hated him) and play as the Flash (favorite DC hero).
Also, as a long time MK fan, I'm not really looking at this game as the first genuine MK game for the current generation. I think we will see that sometime next year with all our favorite fatalities and gore.
Now, I'm just going to enjoy the ride, see how this game comes out, and basically just relax a little in knowing that at least Midway is attempting to do something different. It's better than letting the series stagnate even more...
MK will return to normal, I can guarantee that.

Give me a Marvel vs. DC game then I'll think about it.
Peff @ Jun 21st 2008 11:08PM
Amen, marvel all the way baby
Johnny @ Jun 21st 2008 4:38PM
anygame featuring superman is blows.
its the superman curse.

It's pretty damn terrible. I cannot even discern if that's Barry, Wally, or Bart. Also, Jay should be an alternate costume.
Oh, and Sonya's jugs are now huge. Awesome.
Steve @ Jun 21st 2008 10:22PM
i assume its wally.
my question is which green lantern is it? personally.. just give me all of em... even if its just different skins... you could slightly variate what the ring generates.. like they each have their own style :)
oh.. and how come everyone else sees the pics ? did i miss something?
Duo @ Jun 21st 2008 10:23PM
Hal Jordan better be the Green Lantern in this one. No point in getting the game if he isn't.
SleepNeed @ Jun 21st 2008 10:53PM
This makes me miss the good old days of Mortal Kombat in arcades even more. I'm going to skip this one. After all MK minus Fatalities equals not Mortal Kombat.
Lord Bowser @ Jun 22nd 2008 8:40AM
I'll give it a shot, but I've already got low expectations.
Chad C @ Jun 22nd 2008 11:11AM
im not nocking the concept of this game one bit, in fact it actually sounds interesting to me.
what DOES bug me is the T (for teen) rating.
if its gonna be Mortal Kombat, it should be Mature rated. always has been always should be.....
mike @ Jun 22nd 2008 1:59PM
Has there ever been a T rated mortal kombat? (excluding the Gameboy and SNES Versions of MK2)
i wonder who they will have play robin's voice.

I don't understand the hate at all. I'm actually looking forward to this, but I'm a comic book fan first. I've never been that into MK, so to me it feels more like the MK characters are invading DC instead of vice versa.
YOJIMBOZ @ Jun 23rd 2008 1:43PM
I don't see why everyone wants to bash games like these. Even if it's not your thing, the fact that they are making games with two awesome properties is a good thing. If you want a Marvel vs. MK then it would probably make more sense to support this kind of merger so that they would continue to do the samething with other properties.
How about MK,DC,CAPCOM,MARVEL,SF game.
Or any other combination of series.
If everyone hates on this game then I think the people who want to see $ wouldn't be bothered with a different merger. Even if a different combo of series would be better to some of you. I think this game will be pretty sweet just to have these different characters go at it.
Klonner @ Sep 14th 2008 10:47AM
BTW, there will be fatalities for all villians and MK characters. The good guys from DCU will have brutalities, which they pummel the guys to almost death. So look forward to this game being as bloody as the rest of the MK franchise and with much better graphics and game play options. also, Catwoman is a villian in this, so can't wait to see what fatality she has in store. :)
