Bad Company connection troubles? Just restart!

Having a difficult time connecting to EA's Battlefield: Bad Company servers? Well kids, you aren't alone. EA has acknowledged the fact that some Xbox 360 Bad Company gamers are having troubles connecting to the game servers. Though, take comfort in the fact that they are "monitoring stats non-stop and are working with several partners to locate any possible flashpoints and eradicate any hostiles we encounter." Ha! And until they release a fix, EA recommends simply shutting off your Xbox for 20 minutes, then giving it an old fashioned restart. Good luck!

This may be the worst tip ever. Turn your 360 off for 20 minutes and then try to reconnect to the servers? What exactly does turning your 360 off for 20 minutes do? You still have the same exact IP, gamertag, etc. I'd love to know the technical side behind this tip.

Yeah... It's a wierd bug. I usually just restart the game and that seems to do the trick.

Shutting off the console for 20 minutes... please. How about putting in a different game that doesn't have a bug. That's what I also do when restarting Bad Company doesn't work.

20 minutes without gaming? Are they mad?

Obviously it is server load. Although simply quitting the game would have the same effect, they expect by telling people to bugger off for 20mins(expecting you would bugger off for longer) would reduce server load.

Everyone knows 17.8 minutes is the sweet spot ;o) it's to do with time zones and the curvature of the Earth.

It's pretty upsetting, I already almost didn't buy the game cause of the stupid five weapons deal! Now I'm pissed that 50% of the time it starts searching for a game then just kicks me back to the main menu. WTF
you pay $60 for a game then have to deal with this crap!

Hi guys, I foun a way to connect faster. just press the Xlogo go to friends /recent player look for player that u already played BFMC with and look for a joinable game. Once you joined the game the NETWORK ERROR UNALBLE TO JOIN. WONT HAPPEN AGAIN. at least not with me I had huge problems connecting once I did this. it never happened again.

...becasue the game is fun. It's usually why I play games. ;-)

The single player has been a real treat and the mutliplayer has been extremely addictive. The sound is also quite stunning.

COD4 was getting a little boring and repetitve for me. Bad Company really does have that "I'm in a war zone type feel to it". I can't wait until Call of Duty 6 (I mean the next COD created by Infinity Ward). I would really like to see what they could do with vehicles.

I've been having tons of fun with it. Really great game. That and the sound design is amazing. Here I thought CoD4's sound was the best. Not anymore..

How about fixing find all 5 while there at it. Not able to link my gamer tag for Sh!t. Deleted 2 accounts and still no luck.

I second that. I've had trouble this time and other times with EA's gamertag linking system with previous games(skate) and this one. I think because I've had an account with an old gamer tag it won't let me register a new one. I just get "system error. try again later" whenever I try to link them. Support links don't provide and useful help and there is no phone/e-mail customer that I can find so far. Kinda frustrating as more and more games might be using EA's gamertag linking in the future as they acquire more of the industry. In addition, I kinda paid for those 5 weapons and not being able to unlock more than 1 because of a technical glitch is kind of a hassle. I hope someone codes a redemption code generator or something, lol. Really love the game tho! i've been having a blast even without all the weapons.

As far as the connection issues, I've only had problems a few times. Try going into custom match and searching with open parameters rather than quick matching it. Seems to help.

I'm having the same problems. The veteran unlock is totally broken. If I try to say I have Battlefield: Bad company it says my gamertag isn't linked, but if I choose the demo it says I haven't played online... (both of which aren't true). I was able to enter in my BF2 info, but my Veteran counter still says 0. Also when I enter in my CD key for Battlefield 1942 it says my key is already in use (I've never given it out to anyone)!

AND

I pre-ordered the game and was suppose to get an unlock code for a sniper rifle, except EA sent out the wrong codes and I got a unlock for the Machine gun which I already had an unlock code for. I contacted Amazon support and they sent me a new code which again didn't unlock the sniper rifle... ugh...

But at least I haven't had trouble connecting to the multiplayer server yet.

god i love this game, but i fing HATE EA

i could go on for 20 minutes explaining all of the annoying problems that could easily be fixed, but EA will never do it because they are lazy money grubbing aholes

- squad system!!!!!!! who the hell thought it was a good idea to disallow people on the same team from talking to each other? they MUST implement an application for 3 squad leader positions, accepted based on rank. battlefield 2 had a commander, which was chosen in the same manner. squad leaders should be able to at LEAST talk to each other, in order to coordinate a decent team tactic. it is pathetic to see that in almost every game i enter, my team is full of fools who run off into the woods and snipe, non-communicating, and not even providing recon to the team (the name of the class!!)

- glitchers!! leaderboard is already ruined with jerks who flip cars and farm thousands of points in a single match. these people BETTER get banned / removed from the leaderboards without affecting everyone else. easy fix also...dont give points to someone who is repairing / healing damage not caused by the enemy.

-teamkill system. why the hell dont they allow forgiveness / punnishment for accidental / intentional teamkills. teamkillers get way too many chances, and honest players get so many points taken away for accidental mortar strikes on their teammates becaue they cant talk to the other squads to warn them of the impending attack. LAME

-ranking system is invented by morons. the first day i played the game i stayed up all night and already got up to first lieutenant (around 3000 points). the ranks need to be exponential, not linear!! the game came out 2 days ago and i already see many many generals littering the games. pathetic. it should take a year of playing to get that, not 2 days!! every single player has every single weapon, defeating the purpose of people focusing on a certain class. not to mention a cheater can get the highest rank of 37,000 points in a half hour. FIX THE RANKING SYSTEM

- dedicated servers run very nicely, but they frequently disconnect players and then dont fill them back up! how can it be so hard to matchmake squads of 1-4 into an empty game??? its obvious that their algorithm doesnt take rank into consideration because i played against 2 generals in my first game.

why do we have no choice as to who the other squads and players that we want to play with are?? pick a favorite map and send me into the random EA abyss. garbage. give us a server search or at least let us pair up 2 squads. take a hint from bungie you noobs, that is how you set up an online system.

- EA's site sucks, linking gamertags stat tracking and constant signing in every time you go to another page = horrible design

- veteran program is stupid, for battlefield 2 to qualify u have ot own all 3 expansion packs. glitch does not allow me to add my battlefield vietnam code either.

- infantry damage against helos is wayyyy too high. 1 MG can take out a chopper just as good as the AA gun! also...no parachutes, cant jump out of the helo = stupid. every other battlefield had it.

Good Points... I too love this game but you've pretty much nailed all the uber annoying points.

I think half of the game would fix itself if they had at least one strait-up death match game type. So many people in Gold Rush don't want any part of the teamwork oriented game play and just want to kill people. You get in these incredibly lopsided games between teams that use good tactics to achieve a goal and teams just looking to kill others to gain points.
Half of them don’t realize you score more points when you are close to your squad or close to the objective when defending. (i.e. the game trys to reward you for good team play.)

You hit the points on the head my .02$ is, I forma squad we join a game and then it gets split up into other squads, or even other team. How lame is that? I really hate the stat padders that does need to be addressed. We had one game where there were 5 guys all at 11k or more for points! Needless to say the rest of lost as we were grossly out numbered in attacking.

Actually, you can just go into the system menu and reset or test your internet connection. Then jump back into the game and everything should work fine. It worked for every system in our apartment and our neighbors so it should fix any connection problem in the game.

Forget waiting 20 minutes.....

I waited about 10 SECONDS before I booted my system back up.

I was able to get into online games after that.

for those who's sniper code doesn't work...I had the same issue. I mailed EA (at their support link on the back of the manual) and said that I didn't recieve my code for my unlock. I was sent a response within a day with a new code for me to use...no questions asked. So now I have all 5 unlocks, pretty simple.

At first I thought this game was going to be terrible, but I gave it a try anyway, as I was getting bored with everything else. Well I really enjoy this game and the Multiplayer has been super addictive. I have about 20 hours logged already and I must be one of the lucky ones because I haven't had any connection problems since I started playing on day 1 when it came out. Haven't been dropped and I get in with my squads just fine every time. I'm sure there are problems, but I guess I'm lucky.

i feel like the connection problems mainly occur when trying to use a squad and play with friends. oh, dont worry...you will see the problems sooner or later, my friend. and you will want to shoot someone from ea
