MS announces Australian Xbox 360 price cuts
Today, the Australian arm of Microsoft's Xbox 360 division announced pretty competitive Xbox 360 price cuts across the board. The price cuts affect not only the Pro console, but also the Arcade and Elite dropping the Xbox 360 Arcade to AU$349 (from AU$399), the Pro to AU$499 (from AU$579) and the Elite to AU$649 (from AU$729). This price cut move makes all versions of the Xbox 360 cheaper than the PS3 in the region and the Arcade console actually undercuts the Wii which is priced at AU$399. Nice!These Australian price cuts obviously beg the question of whether or not we'll see a global Xbox 360 hardware price cut in time for E3. And even though Microsoft's Australian team refuses to acknowledge any other territory price cuts, we have even more faith in the leaked fliers. Global hardware price cuts incoming, keep your eyes peeled.

Well if you believe all the rumours about stores dropping the 360 in Australia because it was under performing, then i guess this was a much needed price drop.
But i'm not Australian so i don't know all the facts.

how much does an elite cost down under?
they should drop all the diff versions so that they are at least the equivalent of 60$ under the price of a ps3 imo..
then you can get a game too:)
like in the uk elites cost £260 which is about 80$ less :)

One retailer here in New Zealand has advertised Xbox360 price cuts of nz$100 on all consoles (Arcade, Pro, Elite). Perhaps it will pass on to all markets?

They better cut the price of this poorly designed piece of hardware. Heck, even at that price tag I would not shell out $300 for a console that only lasts 3 months.

Their price cut is real stupid.... $150 for just one 20gb hdd?? crazy......... plus the Arcade has the newer boards while here in Australia the 20gb are all the old ones junk from America, I say Arcade is the only real 'cut'
