Nice job on this post.
They're missing some obvious things that would have appeased those people who scream out "I don't know half of the DLC songs!" on the negative Rock Band forums... but it's a good set, I'd say. There are ome things I wish were in there, but there's always future weeks.
Gemini Ace @ Jul 1st 2008 10:16AM
Behind Blue Eyes is my favorite.
Deezul @ Jul 1st 2008 10:28AM
If "Pinball Wizard" and "Won't get Fooled Again" aren't included, it ain't the BEST of the Who, Harmonix/EA!
HazyCloud @ Jul 1st 2008 10:46AM
"Won't Get Fooled Again" is already included on the retail disc. Fail.
Deezul @ Jul 1st 2008 10:48AM
Doh! But I stand by the "Pinball Wizard" comment.
Thrombo19 @ Jul 1st 2008 11:07AM
Agreed that I am sad about the pinball wizard part, since I am not a giant Who kid (only know the other songs from CSI's :) )
And def epic fail on whining about a song already on the disc :)
HazyCloud @ Jul 1st 2008 11:28AM
Judging by the Rockband forums, Pinball Wizard is a highly requested song. I'm actually surprised it isn't in there. Sorry, I had to give you a hard time.
krusty @ Jul 1st 2008 10:58AM
makes you wonder who chooses these tracks, obviously not people familiar with the classics.
How can you have a Who package without Pinball Wizard, Substitute (Live @ Leeds version of course), A Quick One While he's Away, I can See for miles, 5:15...
... and for F**KS SAKE WHERE THE HELL IS 'I CANT EXPLAIN'???
Mathieu Bonin @ Jul 1st 2008 11:21AM
Well if you refer to the original article announcing the Who pack, it's said that members of the Who participated in choosing the songs. so, hm.
bicranium @ Jul 1st 2008 11:57AM
Yeah, they couldn't find some of the masters. Everything had pointed to them having lost Side 1 of Who's Next? but they have Baba O'Riley so I guess not. Still awesome to get more Who.
Andrew @ Jul 1st 2008 12:51PM
Well pretty much got owned. The band picked out the songs lol.
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jul 1st 2008 1:10PM
Yeah, they definitely should have gotten someone more familiar with these songs than Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend for this task.
Paul @ Jul 1st 2008 1:27PM
yeah even though baba o'riley, who are you, and behind blue eyes are 3 of the 4 most downloaded songs itunes with the other being won't get fooled again (already on rock band). but i'm sure your one opinion is "better" than the millions of people who like the other songs more than the ones you mentioned.
gameblows @ Jul 1st 2008 1:40PM
"Well pretty much got owned. The band picked out the songs lol."
Really? Entwistle and Moon picked them out too? Explain how plz, Einstein.
knoler @ Jul 1st 2008 11:36AM
Some great tracks here!
My only real complaint is that I'd much rather have seen ANY track from their newest album instead of Real Good Looking Boy, which was a one-off for a best of disc they did two or three years ago.
I'd be interested to learn what source the live recordings are coming from. I wasn't that excited about the prospect of My Generation until I learned it was a live version. The version on Live at Leeds is epic -- it's a 10+ minute medley -- and would be amazingly fun to play in the game.
I'm happy to see any Quadrophenia on the setlist, since it's my favorite Who album, but hopefully we'll see some more (The Real Me, Punk & The Godfather, 5:15) down the road...
jake18oly @ Jul 1st 2008 1:10PM
It sounds like I am in the minority but I am very excited for these songs to be released. I love the Who and I assume that these aren't the only songs that are going to be made availalbe as DLC from them. I will be purchasing many of these songs and will also look forward to future Who songs that will be released.
Xav de Matos @ Jul 1st 2008 2:47PM
Dude I love The Who, and Baba O'Riely is one of my favorite tracks! So I'm still grabbing this.
Weyoun42 @ Jul 1st 2008 2:02PM
As a guy who has every Who album and even paid to see the half-a-Who remaining live two years ago, I'm excited. Are there tracks that are missing? Sure. Hopefully this won't be the last DLC for The Who, though. You gotta hold back a few big guns if you want people to download pack two, right? But, honestly, as a guitarist, Eminence Front and Who Are You are worth the price of admission right there. And, you can't go wrong with Behind Blue Eyes. Saving up for this one.
