Taking a page out of the
Call of Duty 4 manual of how to successfully launch a video game, Activision wants you to
choose the cover art of the upcoming
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows game. There are only two options to choose from and, as you can see above, the designs are similar but different in their own right. Currently, the design featuring Spider-Man with crossed "X" arms is in the lead, but we like the other design better. We don't know why we care, but we don't want that stupid crossed arms cover to win. So, even if you don't care about the game or the cover (sorta like us), still vote on the other design. Crossed arms are so lame, holding a city in the palm of your hand ... now that's l33t.

Out of the two, I would choose the 2nd one, the one on the right.
I would also change the background to something other than white, maybe a city behind Spiderman.
Hansel @ Jul 1st 2008 4:28PM
Hmm... They both look lame?
Miguel @ Jul 1st 2008 9:34PM
agreed. they both suck.
Benjamin09 @ Jul 1st 2008 10:25PM
AGREE! Who cares?
Etchasketchist @ Jul 1st 2008 4:31PM
Needs more webs. And more shadows.
Ben @ Jul 1st 2008 4:39PM
I don't really like either of the choices, but between the two I would have to go with the one on the left.
After watching the video about the game I would like to see the cover be Spider-Man with one half the red suit and the other the black suit since they say you can change between suits.
Bluemanrule @ Jul 1st 2008 4:43PM
Spidey holding the city has a more focused tone. I likes.
Bluemanrule @ Jul 1st 2008 4:42PM
Shouldn't a "Web of Shadows" game have more, um, shadows? Just a thought.
Jadis47 @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:40PM
Seriously. How is it you can design an entire game but flake out on the cover art? I've seen better Spiderman art on deviantart.com.
Ari Elon @ Jul 1st 2008 4:54PM
Having designed many box covers, I think these are both pathetic. Halo 3 will always be my crowning glory, but even most of my Sonic boxes turned out better. The illustration is crappy, The logo is to boring of a render and does not need the cheesy combination of a drop shadow AND a white glow, and lastly the masking is beyond bad.
Jayslacks @ Jul 1st 2008 5:23PM
Oh, god. Go blow yourself.
AoE @ Jul 1st 2008 8:40PM
Jayslacks! Have a little respect! I mean.. you just said that to THE designer of the box art for halo 3!!! Can you imagine enjoying that game even one iota if not for his box art?
Andrew @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:04AM
Lawl at the fact that you expect us to believe that you made the cover art for Halo 3.
dancingtosirens @ Jul 2nd 2008 9:58AM
Agreed with jayslacks.
Even if you're telling us the truth, go stroke your ego a little more somewhere else
Chase @ Jul 1st 2008 4:49PM
I just wanted to add that the Spider-Man in the promo art looks terrible. His eyes are off and his face is misshapen.
Demolition Elmo @ Jul 1st 2008 4:53PM
"Taking a page out of the Call of Duty 4 manual of how to successfully launch a video game..."
Letting potential customers pick the box art isn't going to sell a game. Getting good pre-release reviews, now THAT will successfully launch the game. CoD4 sold well because it was a good game, not because Acti decided to let us pick the cover image (well, the amount of zoom anyway). I wish game developers and publishers would get their act together and push more effort into making games better than these silly promotional polls. I'd put money on the table and say this game will be in the bargin bin by xmas, over 6 months on CoD4 is still on the main shelves of my local game stores....
Demolition Elmo @ Jul 1st 2008 4:54PM
BTW, I picked the left one.
bugatti23007 @ Jul 1st 2008 10:20PM
this is too easy the one on the right is better.
Dralthi @ Jul 1st 2008 5:23PM
I think both covers suck.
The title of the game is "Web of Shadows."
Not "Spidey's Big Adventure" (left pic) or "Spiderman X" (right pic).
I think there should be more webs and shadows on the screen... and perhaps a little more emphasis that Venom is actually in the game would help too.
Jayslacks @ Jul 1st 2008 5:23PM
The one that sucks or....the one that sucks.
Professor Lario @ Jul 1st 2008 5:27PM
Both look bad. The one on the right looks to be the worst of the two.
Donato @ Jul 1st 2008 6:07PM
sorry but....
they both suck
BlackFreefall @ Jul 1st 2008 6:14PM
The background is too plain. Is there a third option?
webster1990 @ Jul 1st 2008 6:20PM
They are both a bit poo tbh.
The first one looks like he is holding a snow globe.
Neither of them seem to give an impression of the storyline, a serious lack in webs, shadows and those venomy style black gunk webs seen in the trailer.
p.s. I had no idea Wolverine was going to be in the game, sweet.
VeHeMeNcE @ Jul 1st 2008 7:45PM
I think they both look terrible.
ryan @ Jul 1st 2008 7:56PM
Judging by the fact that it's a Spiderman game and is probably as bad as most comic book knock-off games it doesn't deserve good cover art. With that said I'd like to vote for both of them.
Gloqwi @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:33AM
Spiderman standing in a dark alley or him in a Master-Chief-like-on-the-Halo-3-cover position would be cool too, but instead of looking at the ark, he looks at the city.
Moshiko @ Jul 2nd 2008 2:13AM
I think the 2nd cover looks better..the 1st just don't do it..
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:45AM
Looks like they were put together by kids
hotdogsplinter @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:37PM
blow yourselves indeed.
the article didnt say give your opinion on how much better you can make it or how they can fix it on photoshop. they said pick one. and whos to say that they wont fix it later when the winner is picked? so whatever.
dont be a douche bag.
and by the way, i dig the one on the left.
drdre74 @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:59PM
wow they both suck monkey nutts!!
