DICE cares, Bad Company updates inbound

Who would have thought that all your whining, groaning and moaning would actually inspire change in a video game? We guess only developers who're considered "cool" actually listen to their community, and in the case of Battlefield: Bad Company, the DICE crew is listening to community feedback and taking action.

Posting on the official Bad Company website, team DICE wanted to let everyone know that they're listening and are looking into all the Bad Company improvements the community has suggested. The first update being the addition of a Conquest game mode that will be included in "The Conquest Pack" which is currently in MS cert. After that's complete, DICE promises to look into issues surrounding things like auto balancing and stat exploits. Remember kids, DICE listens and DICE reacts all because DICE cares.

I'm glad I didn't invest in a crapshoot when I bought Bad Company. I'm also grateful that DICE is listening to its consumers. DICE doesn't deserve that awful prefix attached its name.

I think its great that there are some game companies out there who actually listen to the people who invest in their company!

I mean most will just go "Well thats it, the games out, we have their money, lets make something else!"

Instead by the sounds of it DICE actually take pride in their games! EA....Uhmmm not sure about that one! :-)

they really need to fix the spawn camping. On oasis someone can get in a take and just pick people off at the back of the base.

LOL dude you need a better squad then. 4 Demo squad RAPES in this game. AT mines everywhere, simulateous rpgs strikes. BOOM no more tanks lol.

god, the the glitching and autobalancing are pretty small problems in comparison to:

- squad system!!!!!!! who the hell thought it was a good idea to disallow people on the same team from talking to each other? they MUST implement an application for 3 squad leader positions, accepted based on rank. battlefield 2 had a commander, which was chosen in the same manner. squad leaders should be able to at LEAST talk to each other, in order to coordinate a decent team tactic. it is pathetic to see that in almost every game i enter, my team is full of fools who run off into the woods and snipe, non-communicating, and not even providing recon to the team (the name of the class!!)

-teamkill system. why the hell dont they allow forgiveness / punnishment for accidental / intentional teamkills. teamkillers get way too many chances, and honest players get so many points taken away for accidental mortar strikes on their teammates becaue they cant talk to the other squads to warn them of the impending attack. LAME

-ranking system is invented by morons. the first day i played the game i stayed up all night and already got up to first lieutenant (around 3000 points). the ranks need to be exponential, not linear!! the game came out 2 days ago and i already see many many generals littering the games. pathetic. it should take a year of playing to get that, not 2 days!! every single player has every single weapon, defeating the purpose of people focusing on a certain class. not to mention a cheater can get the highest rank of 37,000 points in a half hour. FIX THE RANKING SYSTEM

- dedicated servers run very nicely, but they frequently disconnect players and then dont fill them back up! how can it be so hard to matchmake squads of 1-4 into an empty game??? its obvious that their algorithm doesnt take rank into consideration because i played against 2 generals in my first game.

why do we have no choice as to who the other squads and players that we want to play with are?? pick a favorite map and send me into the random EA abyss. garbage. give us a server search or at least let us pair up 2 squads. take a hint from bungie you noobs, that is how you set up an online system.

- EA's site sucks, linking gamertags stat tracking and constant signing in every time you go to another page = horrible design

- veteran program is stupid, for battlefield 2 to qualify u have ot own all 3 expansion packs. glitch does not allow me to add my battlefield vietnam code either.

- infantry damage against helos is wayyyy too high. 1 MG can take out a chopper just as good as the AA gun! also...no parachutes, cant jump out of the helo = stupid. every other battlefield had it.

no dude spawn camping has been in all battlefield games and it is a part of the strategy of the game. if everyone goes out as a sniper and leaves their base undefended, this is what happens. its totally fair and can be defended off (obviously..you spawn there)

spawn camping is a good thing in battlefield because it allows a team to rightfully dominate the other when they suck. they shouldnt get any protection and cheap spawn placement because they are all noobs. end of story.

Will it be free? I like Live better than PSN, but the PSN update/pack will be 100% free. Will M$ charge while Sony gives it away??

That's good that they listen. I just want them to fix the problem where if you join with a squad sometimes you get split up. That defeats the whole purpose.

I'm happy that they listen but at the same time, the issues they list need to be addressed. Unfortunately, we're looking at another couple of months until Conquest is out before they look at these issues. Once they look at the issues and considering fixing or altering their behavior we're a couple of more months away at least. Best case scenario, we're looking at 6-8 months before even one or two of these issues are addressed and by then most people will be on to other games. If they fixed them up front it would have a longer following like GOW and COD4.

Um, how do you figure it will be a couple of months before we get the conquest mode? In the article it says it in MS cert right now. Should only be a couple of weeks. As far as the updates to fix the game it couple be a month or more but I am sure they are working on it now, since they are done w/ the conquest update.

i just wish they would make so I dont have to hit someone 150 times with an m 16 to kill them.

The Conquest game mode will be free because any game update is free. It's not DLC, it's an update. And they say so on the scrolling info bar when you're in the multiplayer menu.

I know this isn't completely on topic, but this game wasn't one that I was going to look into... until I downloaded the 1.5 GB demo that is! I havn't stopped playing the multiplayer since I downloaded it!! Good job DICE! EA.... no comment.

This game really is great, and I have no problems with it. I haven't experienced any of the problems listed, but even if I did it sure wouldn't break the game for me. I also must be super lucky because I've never been dropped from a game either. Maybe my connection rocks.
