New EndWar beta leak features X3F shout-out [Update]

A few weeks ago we reported an EndWar beta tester leaked footage of the upcoming Tom Clancy RTS title -- non-disclosure agreement be damned. While reactions to our report of the leak were mixed, Ubisoft ended the controversy by putting the kibosh on the video. A little over an hour ago the same tester took it upon himself to upload a new clip of the beta -- which ends on July 7 -- taking our joking advice to "get a capture card, buddy."
While we don't condone the action or recommend that anyone leak footage of anything under NDA, we chuckled when our name came up. At least we know someone listens to the dog and pony show that is the Xbox 360 Fancast.
Also to give credit where it's due, it was our commander-in-chief (Rich) who threw out the capture card recommendation. Check out the footage above, before Ubisoft sends out the lawyer-ninjas.

I'm just supprised how tight-lipped the gamers are that were chosen. I know I don't want my ass getting sued. I've been playing it on occasion since day one of the beta.

Also so you guys know, Xav did nothing wrong by posting the video. He never signed the NDA and is under no obligation to keep from posting content related to the game. We however who are in the beta can't legally.

We actually didn't condone it on the show either. We talked about the news. This was the news at the time. Never mentioned him by name.

Exactly, anyone who thought for a second the NDA would not be broken is an idiot. Also, everyone making X3F sound like they are the only site to do this, you guys are tools. The only person you should be mad at if at all is the guy who made these videos. Even then the only thing i can see making you mad is that if you would have been loyal to the NDA where as this person who got it has not been loyal.

why post NDA breaking material its not news its rewarding the people that don't respect game company's and this is the main reason a lot of game company are so secretive.

I understand your point but there is a difference between supporting and informing.
If you have a concern that we asked for this in any way, please listen to the episode "Manspolosions" and fast forward to 46:30 of the show.
It's noteworthy that we aren't the only network to have reported on the original leak.

i got into the beta, played it for 20 mins...thought "hey this voice stuff is awesome!"
then realised i wasn't having fun
so deleted it off my HD
bought lego indiana jones off ebay yesterday...and my GOD its awesome XD

as "journalists" there should be some respect for the game company's and not post videos to reward people for breaking NDA's.
there is a difference if a few people know about it and post it on a forum, but to post it on a major website is unnecessary.
your informing people to break NDA's and they will be on your front page as news, that is all your doing.
If someone wants to be informed about a game they usually go to the official website for their information or should go there.

Someone needs to get down off their high-horse. It's not as if anyone is leaking the actual beta and X3F is telling everyone where to get it.
While it may not please Ubisoft to any great extent, I'd like to remind you that there is no such thing as bad press. For X number of people who didn't get into the beta, this might just be the little taste they need to stay interested in the title... which further down the road = $$$ for Ubisoft.

Tell me the last time you saw any of the major news outlets (CNN, MSNBC, FOX) respected anything by showing something called impartiality. Journalist are supposed to be impartial. These guys have most like realized that and made a blog where they can report on what they are partial to. That makes them more reliable than most other news outlets.

I've been testing for awhile now, and am not really liking the concept. It seems like too much micro management for me to really get into it. It's like command and conquer only more tedious, and those kinds of games just weren't made for a console.
Although I do like that you can use the headset to vocally give orders to your units as it does make it a little more bearable, but still.

Yeah end war sucks, the voice control doesn't beat mouse and keyboard. I played it for half an hour and never went back.
Just struck me as a very very dumbed down RTS.

May have been said before (too lazy to read other comments, sorry) but who's job is it to trawl the internet for stuff relating to NDA and stuff like that? I want their job, essentially it's go look at game fansites and forums and then report back on any naughtiness, but it still affords you some enjoyment. I could legitimately go on x3f in work and if anyone asks what I'm doing I could reply "working!". It'd be sweet.

I'm not saying anyone sucks, especially you guys! I'm also not taking a shot at anyone, that'd just be mean.
I'm referring to the job of the guy who goes and finds videos which break DNA and then makes sure they get taken down! I realise now that I may not have made it very clear, sorry, as I said it was early and I was tired, so brain not functioning very well. I was mostly referring to the update and the vid being taken down as opposed to the main body of the post.

I'm sure the argument's over by now, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in. Journalism is the act of finding and reporting news. Outside of games journalism (and inside), it is common for reporters to talk to sources and obtain information from leaks. This is a HUGE part of the job. It's NOT the job of the journalists to protect or disparage the people, companies, or events they report on. Normally, these sources may remain anonymous, protected by the journalists whom they give the information. In this case, the idiot source is identifying himself.
I cannot speak for the site, but I believe that X3F has no obligation to any people, companies, or events that they obtain information about. If they did, that would effectively make them an untrustworthy news source as one would never know who they're biased towards or against.
If a post about the leaked EndWar beta footage "isn't news", go read the next post, just like the newspaper.

I dont know why people care so much - they arnt breaking any rules, you should be happy they are reporting stuff like this, if you dont like it dont watch it.
Which company sends out beta to a bunch of randoms and asks them not to leak any of it anyway? There shouldnt be any NDA's when the public are randomly chosen - if they dont want leaks, do it privatly.
