Video: Alone in the Dark meets Benny Hill
Case in point, this video covers a sequence early in Alone in the Dark in which the game prompts you to break a car window so that you can open the door and steal it. The only problem is that the game's inventive yet wonky control scheme makes breaking that itty-bitty window about as difficult as taking down a Big Daddy.
Out of curiosity, how many of you out there are trudging through Alone in the Dark despite its faults?

Pretty good. And yes, i am still trudging through the game. Stuck at a point tho which makes absolutely no sense, then it froze :(. I might eventually play it again.

wow that was funny and very true :)

Just picked it up yesterday. Haven't started it yet, though. What are these faults you speak of?
harry @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:34PM
There are plenty, but you get used to it. It all depends on how you play, and how well you handle each situation really. Some things make no sense, but you eventually figure it out on your own.

I'm almost done with it, but I have no good reason as to why I'm still playing it. The game is awful. The scene where you're made to fight 10 "humanz" (
aeamek @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:47PM
the part where I said "lol ubisoft" got cut out of that. Whoops.
Anyway, that scene is maddening. Controls, FTL

Yup I am still suffering this mighty piece of shite. But as soon as its finished its getting traded in for something worth playing.

I really enjoyed AitD, and while the controls are pretty 'old skool', they aren't nearly as bad as some folk are saying. In the area shown in the video I just shot the window out - and that's the nice thing about this game, if something is too hard there is almost alway a 2nd way to compleate a task.

I'm with you, man! People exaggerate when they talk their crap. I really enjoy this game. It gets confusing from time to time (well, I am the kind of guy that tends to get confused easily). Gotta love guns though... =P

I would be doing some trudging but I don't have any money at the moment, just started a fulltime job as a web developer but wont get paid till the end of july, luckily all the good games GoW2, Fallout3, Fable2, some other things I forget... come out later this year, when I will be able to afford such niceties, as it happens I'll probably not get AitD for a while, but I still want to try it out.

I hate trolling vids like this... but all you have to do is shoot the window.
It would be like me trying to walk the ball into the net in FIFA because I couldn't find the shoot button, then setting it to Benny Hill music and going "LULZ DIS GAEM R SUX"
