Rumor: A new Chief'less Halo announced at E3

According to a few gaming news sources, Microsoft may still have a few aces up their sleeves heading into next week's E3, meaning that we may actually be treated to some surprise Halo game announcement news after all.

After speaking with their inside insiders, CVG is reporting that they believe Microsoft will in fact announce a new Halo game next week that's said to not be a true Halo 4 seeing that Master Chief is said to not be featured in the game. This Halo E3 rumor mongering comes in the wake of Sarcastic Gamer's recent report, that their inside sources have also confirmed that a new Halo game will be announced at E3. Interesting stuff. Though, if a new Halo game is announced, we have a feeling it may have to do with Jackson's episodic Halo: Chronicles which hasn't received a formal on stage announcement yet. But if a totally new Halo game is announced ... that's cool too

Wouldn't this be Halo Wars? :-P

I'd be surprised to see another game in the main series at E3. Especially a Chief-less one. To me, it seems like the reason we're getting Halo Wars and Halo: Chronicles is so Bungie can take some time out from the franchise, and work on other games - while still keeping the fans happy with more Halo titles.

To not have the Chief in something similar to Halo 4, would be odd considering Halo 3 ended with the set-up for a subsequent title.

Well what ever it is it should be pretty cool I really like what they do with halo just hope its not like there trying to milk the halo franchise.....M$ no they wouldn't do that....would they??

I would think that it is in MS best interest to release a Halo 4 with or without Master Chief, leading into a Halo 5 where chief is in the alternate universe, just throwing the idea out there.

The true "Halo 4" will probably be a launch title for the Xbox 720 in 2010 or 2011.

the 360 is supposedly going to have a 7 year life. so since it was released in 2006. 2013 is probably closer to the next version of the xbox.

It can have a long life spend with another console coming out with it I mean look at the Ps2 and PS3 the PS2 didn't die as soon as the PS3 came out but with MS thats a different thing since the box basically did die as soon as 360 came out.

Make a decent attempt at it this time as well, Halo 3 was a major let down. You can only live off a name for so long and as far as I'm concerned they've already dont that.

This alternate universe in which the Chief is in is Flooded (get it) by mushrooms and turtles. Armed only with a plunger, he gets lazy and fat and grows a mustache. :D

Couldn't this be a prequal that has you playing as Sgt. Johnson. He did have a life in the military before the Spartans came along.

I'd like to see something similar to the Republic Commando game where there's a team of Spartans in battles leading up to what we've seen so far in the Halo series. Online co-op with 4 Spartans against all of the requisite Halo enemies in a campaign mode would be awesome.
