When you scan the new 360 releases this week, you may feel a sense of
déjà vu. "
Unreal Tournament III," you will say, "didn't that come out eight months ago?" Fear not, however, for your eyes do not deceive you. The Xbox 360 version of
Unreal Tournament III has finally released, bereft of user created content though it may be. Presenting us with another trip back in time is
Civilization Revolution, which has players building their ... civilizations from ancient times all the way into the space age. If you haven't given the demo a try, we suggest you do. It's good fun. Finally, we have
Beijing Olympics 2008. We're guessing that one involves a lot of button mashing and stick twirling. You'd best prepare for the calluses now.

I would buy UT3 right now if I had the green but still I am wondering if this is like the only game I would rather buy for the PS3 just because of the User created content, or maybe when I get my lappy I can just buy it for that. Still I love me some UT on the box and I think I my pick this up when the price falls alittle or maybe a rent.

UT3 is brilliant, been playing all weekend with my XBL buddies. Awesome engine, graphics, speed and action. As for mods, who cares? There's more than enough maps and mutators, all the patches and DLC is included and room for more in the future, it's all about the run and gun. Forget CoD4, old skool is where it's at!

Ok well if I spot anything strange in my neighbourhood Webster I'll give you a call. Until then I may have to go pick up UT3, everyone who has played it is raving on and on about as a must buy.

Definitely picking up UT3, despite X3F's complete disregard and lack of respect for the game. User created mods are so late 90's.

I just out researched you, bitch!

I cannot wait for Unreal even though most of my friends have no interest in it. I can just make some new friends though.

Love the sentiments!

Never played Civ before. Demo really sucked me in. Seems like the game could be a lot of fun.

Hello there,
I've had UTIII since last friday, played all the way till yesterday and I think I'm liking it.
First: the game is a beauty! If they would have showed this a year ago saying it would be a launchgame for xbox720 (or whatever they are gonna call the follow up to your favorite console), most of us would probably believed it. It is that good!
Not only extremely beautifull to look at (check out all the detail!!), but running very stable at ridiculously fast speeds. Impressive!
UE3 not only good for GEARS and some wannabe other FPS (by less fortunate developers), but also for very, very fast UT gameplay. Not have had a single hickup or seen lag in all of my sessions. Did I say Impressive allready?
If you dont have XB Live, you can play/practise with the bots (whose IQ/AI is selectable from 6/7 different difficulty-options) and still have a offline online-kinda multiplayer experience.
You can play splitscreen if u want/have friends around. I dont, although I got split personalities (no I don't)(Yes I do), so it may come in handy..
There are a whole lot of maps and characters right on the disc (its a dvd by the way, no BR, still it strangely holds everything you need).
No, there are no mods available. Me, personally I dont give a fcuk. I want maps that last, maps that are good, maps that shine in MP and still shine year(s) later. If there are coming out good user created maps on PC, that are showing their greatness (and shinyness) not only in the beginning, but months later still, then Epic can get these maps from the makers and make them available for download on XBLM. I dont wanna play hundreds of shitty designed boring maps just to search for a great one, while I could play in the mean time. Same for the mod skins. I dont give a fcuk. I cant see my own character anyways, so why would I go through all the fuss of getting Master Chief, Marcus of Gears, the Pope, Madonna whoever, just to impress some noobs who dont know where to get these skins?
I dont care, I just wanna play.
Only negative I can find: comparing to Quake 4 multiplayer it's a tiny bit slower (just tiny, still freakin fast) and all the weapons seems to be more powerfull in UTIII (too powerfull perhaps?), so you die much quicker. Armor doesnt seem to do a lot for your character and when you're hit you prefer to get another hit and die, instead of searching for healthpickups, because the first is quicker, so you get back in the game with fullhealth again (so you can kill other players again).
This makes the game feel like a race (on steroids) sometimes. The race for the most kills in a certain set timeframe, no matter how often you die.
This gives me sometimes sore, red eyes because there is no time to blink (it's a race remember) and after a couple of hours I really need a rest, while with Q4 I could go on for much longer.
Als worthy of mention is the fine CTF and Vehicle CTF modes, especially when you are with friends and you need a change of the fast race DM gameplay.
One other thing (before I bore you to death): you can meet up with friends on ranked matches, just like you could with GEARS in the beginning: search for Ranked DM, search for name of friend whos hosting. This will probably be changed with update (like GEARS), I rather would have liked that you could just invite friends in your ranked game. Worked with Q4, I dont c how you could/would cheat this way. Everybody wants to win with these kinda games.
So yeah I'm liking it, but still have some concerns for how long I will like it before I maybe go back to play some Quake (which probably will have zero games all the time going on cause everybody moved on to UTIII). For now, it's absolutely fantastic and I try limiting my games to ones with max 6/8 people instead of the frantic 16 player matches (where I die before I shoot most of the time, too crowded/no fun me thinks).
So, for all the people who thinking about maybe getting this game but arent really sure: try it out on rental of try and get the game for 30/35 euro's (25/30 pounds / 30/35dollars) and you have a game thats worthy of your time and money (even if you're not a HC UT fan)

Finally...but too bad I have about 4 or 5 unfinished games on my plate still...UT3 probably won't make my cut. Sorry. :(
