Rumor: Countdown site for next Bungie announcement

The website features the text "Out of the Ashes.. Soon!" along with the text seen above and a countdown that ends on July 17, the last day of E3. Bungie fans will note that all the Ts on the website have been replaced with 7s. A quick WHOIS of the website information reveals that the website is registered to FOX FM in Burlington, North Carolina (which is on the opposite coast of Bungie's headquarters in Washington). After a bit of searching, FOX FM appears to be a defunct internet radio station. And that's exactly what we're prepared to call it. Unless the folks at Bungie (or their advertising partners) were crafty enough to register with a fake name and create an internet trail of very convincing evidence (we found several MySpace pages and a broken radio stream), we're calling this coincidence.
If there is a Bungie announcement (and there is a very real chance there will be), it will be during Microsoft's Press Briefing on Monday.

I hate countdowns. either make an announcement or don't. Don't announce your announcement.
Man, i hope it isnt a remake of marathon...

if you look up the Ign.com live wire E3 2008 program schedule it says on Wednesday that at 9:30am and 11:30am it is TBA or to be announced. and if you go to bungie's site there is a count down that ends on Wednesday. so maybe that TBA is bungie's announcement for E3.

If you take a look at this thread on the Bungie forums, it looks like the radio station site is fake but there are in in fact a few legitimate teaser sites out there.

Web site IP belongs to Yahoo's IP block and is running FreeBSD:
http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.1019foxfm.net
And the site didn't exist prior to Aug of 2007:

The code on this new page was also used in I Love Bees, the Halo 2 ARG.

That's pretty significant support for the Bungie theory, as if the 7s weren't enough.

And if you go to ilovebees.com the same message pops up on the homepage, but all the 7's are T's.
Kizzle @ Jul 8th 2008 3:09PM
First thing I did was compare that to the ilovebees.com page.
And that's exactly why it WOULDN'T be an official Bungie thing. They would not use the same thing twice like that.

I leaning more towards a fake made by extreme fans.

I dont want a Marathon sequel, because Halo and Marathon shared very similar storyline ideas. I want a brand new Bungie Idea

seeker and spider were computer programs from the i love bees ARG, the page title out of the ashes refers to phenix, the code name for all secret bungie projects (other than pimps at sea)

Well i live in melbourne, Australian and one of our local radio staions is Fox Fm and even more the radios number 101.9 (1019foxfm.net) but yer maybe its just a coincidence
aniki21 @ Jul 9th 2008 11:01AM
@Joe: Are you sure MS/Bungie wouldn't use Yahoo! SiteBuilder? That'd be a great way to throw people off - which is the entire point of ARGs.
Anyway, I got a shiver when I read "System Peril Distributed Reflex". Gave me a chance to go back over the ilovebees stuff and dig out The Widow's Tale.
Joe @ Jul 10th 2008 4:07PM
who knows, i highly doubt it because they didn't before. Also, how was this found? All the other bungie ARGs have had a solid trail from Bungie to the site.
