GI unveils Rock Band 2 'Ion' drums and 7 new tracks

GI's Rock Band 2 news-fest unveils pictures of the game's new drum set as well as a limited edition "Ion" drum kit that comes complete with three additional cymbals (don't worry, the colors mirror those that are already on the pads) and can be used as an actual seven piece electric set. Though, the basic drums are no slouch, Harmonix added a metal reinforced foot pedal, expansion slots for cymbals, velocity sensitive pads and wireless connectivity. All upgrades we are happy to see and give two thumbs sign of the horns way up!
But that isn't all, we also get seven additional Rock Band 2 songs to add to our ever growing list of confirmed setlist tracks. Hit the break to view the new seven and prepare to scream with excitement if you're a fan of Billy Idol, RATM or Joan Jett.

jefffff @ Jul 11th 2008 3:23AM
So with these new confirmed songs, which of the 2 supposed lists are closer to being correct?
Josh @ Jul 11th 2008 6:35AM
...all of them are correct.
Charlie @ Jul 11th 2008 3:37AM
"Ion" is a manufacturer of inexpensive, basic electronic drum kits that Target and other similar stores sells. I must say though, the kit shown in the forum looks very nice, much nicer than Ion's usual fare.

I don't know why I keep checking these lists. They never put Good Stuff on these games. Only Stuff that is too well known.
Thrombo19 @ Jul 11th 2008 9:10AM
Wow, big surprise a game they want to sell to the masses is full of hits!
I want myself and all my friends to know almost every word to every song on the list. The closer they can do to that, the better this game is. Who wants to have people over drinking and having to learn the words and beat to the eigth song off the third Dire Straits album?
ya too cool for the room jack ass

I love people like you who think they are so awesome because they don't listen to mainstream music. Why would they put songs on the tracklist that nobody has really heard of? Maybe if they didn't want to make money.
Brave @ Jul 11th 2008 2:31PM
I love it when people listen to Mainstream shit and think is awesome.
There's more deserving bands out there that should be on these games.
Thrombo19 @ Jul 11th 2008 3:29PM
Hey sweet pea, I didn't say it was awesome. If Livin on a Prayer comes on the radio, I change the station. But if I am going to PRETEND play the guitar, or smack some plastic pads, or off-keyishly sing a song, I want it to be something I have heard a bunch of times.
And, if your so called deserving bands got on these games, and if they are as good as you are implying, and the game sells rediculously like it will, THEN your deserving band will get more famous. And get played on the radio more, and more, until no one likes it. Then your precious deserving band will be mainstream and you will have to hate it. But you loved it and thats how it got on the game, but now its famous so you hate it. But you loved it . . . and then your brain has to explode.
Or its on the disc and doesnt get famous, cuz it just stunk. Except for Radium Eyes. That song rules in its awfulness and no one can say different.
Brave @ Jul 11th 2008 3:35PM
No You.
They wouldn't become Famous.
Doesn't really matter anyway, because I can already play this stuff on the real guitar.
Stop wasting Time.
UNSCleric @ Jul 11th 2008 4:37AM
Dusty, you should be in bed, it's storming out!
Ben @ Jul 11th 2008 5:07AM
I was debating getting RB1, but now I'm definitely waiting for RB2
Kizzle @ Jul 11th 2008 10:19AM
Rock Band 1 is still definitely a worthy purchase...maybe wait until RB2 comes out so you can get the superior instruments, but don't skip RB1 just because it's older. The tracklist is outstanding.
Ben @ Jul 11th 2008 10:31AM
Yeah, I definitely want the wireless equipment. I heard a rumor floating around that RB1 songs will be free downloads if you purchase RB2. Hopefully there will be more clarification at E3.
Tucker @ Jul 11th 2008 12:56PM
Incorrect. The rumor is that OWNERS of RB1 will be able to import the RB1 tracks into RB2 for free. And that would be awesome.
Deezul @ Jul 11th 2008 1:08PM
Too bad you can't import the tracks on disc. Because then folks would import those tracks and sell the game.
Thrombo19 @ Jul 11th 2008 1:55PM
I would be real real excited if they come up with a way to import. Seems like they would be smart to require you to "re-verify" your tracks at random intervals though. Otherwise, 90 peeps could buy one RB1 disc and import and pass the disc on.
webster1990 @ Jul 11th 2008 5:08AM
I am wanting to buy an electronic drum set as it is, this would be perfect.
todd @ Jul 11th 2008 6:41AM
oh boy a set just like the guitar hero one... gotta keep up with the jones.
todd @ Jul 11th 2008 6:42AM
oh and Joan Jet is cool, rather see the runaways but...
Deezul @ Jul 11th 2008 8:47AM
Figures; just bought an electronic drum set off eBay for about $170 - I could have picked up RB2 and the cymbals for maybe $50 more. Guess I probably WILL be buying a complete Rock Band 2 Kit. Anyone need a wired drum set and guitar, come late September :-D
Neuromancer @ Jul 11th 2008 9:22AM
Steve Miller Band rocks!
Kizzle @ Jul 11th 2008 10:18AM
I guess that indicates those big leaked lists are accurate :(
Too bad, they were underwhelming.
jake18oly @ Jul 11th 2008 11:35AM
The new Ion drumset looks awesome. I might just have to pick one up to use as a electronic drumset as well.
Perno @ Jul 11th 2008 1:10PM
Anyone else catch the timed Xbox 360 exclusive blip in there? Is that old news?
hbk @ Jul 11th 2008 2:33PM
Yes bon jovi! Was hoping for you give love a bad name, livin' is great too though.
VPhoenix @ Jul 14th 2008 4:51PM
Expansion slots, you say?
I think we need more cowbell.
