E308: Final Fantasy XIII trailer [Update]
Tried of squinting at your monitor attempting to watch the Final Fantasy XIII trailer showcased at the Microsoft Press Conference? Team X3F has got your back. Unveiled again, and for the first time (explanation to follow), during the Square Enix press conference is the trailer in its entirety (that's the again part) but with the added bonus of a PS3 Exclusive ... In Japan banner at the end (that's the first time part).
As usual with most Square Enix games, it looks beautiful and is sure to be a hit when it lands on the Xbox 360. Whenever that is. Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the Xbox 360! Just thought we'd say it again.

I'm a PS3 fanboy, and in a way, I'm glad you guys are getting the game. If a game is truly great, then everyone should have the chance to play it. Obviously this doesn't extend to first and second-party games, which is unfortunate, but in any case, if I were a 360 owner, I'd be happy about this. Just as I am happy that I will get to play BioShock and Eternal Sonata on the PS3. I also think Konami will release MGS4 for you guys in the future as well, and I hope so, because some PS3 fanboys are freaking annoying about it, saying things like "MGS4 is impossible to port to 360." No, it's not.. and hopefully Konami shuts them up sometime in the future. Timed exclusivity is really the best way to go for third-parties, if not simultaneous releases, that way they get the most return on their investment. Developing costs a lot, and games should be made for gamers, irrespective of platform. Except the Wii shovelware - they can keep that crap.

It's really nice that FF13 is coming to the xbox 360 as well.Everyone gets to play a great game and when it comes out we can compare differences! ^_^

Well at least the tables are turned . Now the 360 will be geting the crappy port for once , and people will see the difference between what's possible on 360 , and what's possible on PS3 .

hmm i have a question..what about FF13 versus (if you don't know what that is. FF13 has 3 parts, this is one of the 3. 2 of them are consoles and one i believe is a cell phone game)? is that a PS3 exclusive or (praying to the xbox gods) that it will come to 360

Final Fantasy versus XIII is supposed to remain a PS3 exclusive. Of course right now I don't think I'd feel particularly inclined to trust Square Enix on matters regarding exclusivity, but there has been no announcement on the release of versus XIII on the 360.
At least having a PS3 I can import the Japanese version of XIII while everyone else waits for localization. I doubt that this will kill the PS3 or "put another nail in its coffin." It just means that there won't necessarily be a surge of PS3 sales when XIII comes out outside of Japan. Assuming a noticeable number of PS3 owners don't trade in their console (which would be a bit dumb, a number of games would have to be re-bought for the 360), then the PS3 just loses one of it's chances to pull ahead.
Out of curiosity, I don't suppose there's any information regarding when this decision was made and whether or not Microsoft played a major role in it, is there?

I own a PS3 and I still have little interest in this game. Finally seeing some flashes of gameplay make me a little more interested, but I'm still adverse to JRPGs.
However, the fact it's coming to Xbox 360 is still mind blowing.

Well, sonys definately got to be reeling a little from this...
I wonder if its going to be a PS3 exclusive in japan because Square-Enix dont think (know) that it wont sell well on the 360, despite the fact they are making 3 other RPGs that will come out on the 360 already...
(Star Ocean, Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, I think)

FFXIII will always be far superior on PS3 as:
a) it was developed from the outset on that platform. Supporting 360 is an afterthought.
b) Blu-ray disc is gonna be required, I don't fancy FFXIII shipping on 5x DVD's
c) PS3 version will be out in Europe/US long before the 360 version, as the release scheduled goes: PS3 Japan followed by PS3 translations, followed by 360 development.

b) Old excuse. Didn't bother me when playing Blue Dragon or Lost Oddysey. Also didn't bother me when playing FF games back on the PS1

@Scott. Reread the transcript.
They are releasing on PS3 in Japan, then PS3 Euro/US translations, THEN, AND ONLY THEN, ARE THEY STARTING ON THE 360 VERSION..
If it's a simultanious release, it's because Microsoft bunged them cash to hold the PS3 version back.

I'm glad FF is going to Xbox. Let's be fair S-E will get more money out of it and they will be inclined to put more back in when they come to creating the next game. Ultimately that means an even better FF next time round. This whole divide between Xbox and PS3 is crazy. I own a PS3 and I've seen the Xbox in action; they both have flaws in truth. The list of Xbox games is quality, and it's a gaming console. But nonetheless I almost felt inclined to get the PS3, it seems to be the original to me, the thoroughbred. Some like the Xbox flexibility, others prefer the muscle of the PS3, but either console is worth buying and regretably I think the Sony console will have some trouble next time round, unless they can pull something out of the bag.
