Coming out swinging, the
Guitar Hero segment claims 85+ tracks right on the disc. As for the downloadable content there'll be an REM track pack with 3 songs, plus the megaton news that Van Halen and the Eagles are exclusive to
Guitar Hero, and that Metallica's newest album will hit on both the XBLM and retail at the same time. Plus they're launching something they're calling GH Tunes, which will allow for users to upload and share the music they've created with the in-game creator.

I've never been first, YES!

I'll pass, the best part was when the guy paused after saying Guitar Hero like he expected the entire theater to break out in applause.

Ok, Metallica's newest album will probably also be their worst. I was hoping Guitar Hero would have some groundbreaking news but these announcements were very lackluster! Thank god RB2 will be compatible with RB1 songs and instruments. And they have better songs to boot! Too bad I was miss out on the glorious REM 3 pack. :(

Oh, look, GH has bands that peaked 10 years ago for exclusives.
tekman94 @ Jul 15th 2008 8:47PM
......and you have a problem with that. The 70's, 80's, and 90's were when songs had amazing guitar riffs and drum solo's and etc. Rap music on Guitar Hero would make no sense at all.

No, I'm saying these are bands that are STILL making music, but SHOULD have STOPPED in the 80s. Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, still putting out hits. When Sammy Hager left VH, it went downhill. Metallica has left a bad taste is folks mouth since the Napster case. Plus, people want Metallica Black, not the new stuff.

Not as good as Chinese Democracy or GNR

GH Tunes: will be just a bunch of lame, no vocal, covers of all the songs that people want, that aren't in GH. Like AC/DC, Led Zep, The Beatles.
RB2 - Metallica "Battery" pwns GH and the whole new Metallica album.
VH/GH exclusive makes me a sad panda :(
That said, if someone makes drums compatible with both games...then I will buy GHWT and new drums.

The people that think the new Metallica album will be bad must not have heard anything from it or about it. It's being called the missing link between Justice and the Black Album. Of course, guitar solos are back and there is a full instrumental song ala Orion.
Anyway, time to get on topic. The interesting thing about the new Death Magnetic being available on CD as well as GH at the same time is that Death Magnetic comes out a full month BEFORE World Tour. I've heard rumors that it will be playable on GH3 until Word Tour comes out. Anybody else heard any more on that?
