E308: id Software partners with EA [Update]

During the EA press conference, EA CEO John Ricatello introduced the newest partner to EA. Much like the agreement with Valve, which sees the publishing giant support the developer with retail releases and a worldwide reach, id Software was named as the newest member of the team.
Taking the stage, id Software co-founder John Carmack has revealed id Software has made a publishing agreement with EA. Expected to release under the EA logo is id's first-person shooter, Rage. However, some questions remain? Will id Software rejoin the ESA now that they have an agreement with Electronic Arts?
Remember, as stated in the conference this news only means there is a publishing agreement with EA. id Software was not purchased.

I'm sure they left Activision because Activision is in full on "exploit franchises" mode and id likes to be free to do what they want.
EA has a good partner in id...each id release is a milestone in gaming and technology.

They've done great with Valve, I welcome this. That Rage trailer was awesome BTW - Don't see how that game is even possible on 360 / PS3 / Current PCs...

NO! DAMN IT NO!!!!!! EA sucks balls, and now I'm not really looking forward to Rage, Wolfenstein, or Doom 4. id already allowed a crappy port of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars to hit the Xbox, and now this? I didn't think I'd ever be disappointed with id, but between these two bad moves, I'm a little more than just disappointed.

Assuming like all current id releases it is released on steam, I'll be buying it off steam so EA won't see a cent of my money.
